| Apple TV 4K -> Sonos Beam -> AirPods 3 - no Atmos option? Posted: 24 Dec 2021 10:19 PM PST Just got a pair of AirPods 3 and was excited to test out Atmos on my AppleTV 4K. I have a first gen Sonos Beam connected over ARC to my LG B7 OLED. When I try to enable Atmos with the AirPods connecting the setting is not there. If audio is output to the Beam only, it is - although not selectable presumably because the first gen Beam doesn't support Atmos. I've drilled through all of the settings on the TV and AppleTV and can't find anything off. Any suggestions? I'm not expecting it to replace a full Atmos setup but it would be great to use after the kids and wife are asleep. [link] [comments] | ||

| Why some movies are grainy despite it shows Dolby Vision on the ATV? Posted: 25 Dec 2021 12:41 AM PST I was watching the Witcher and the picture quality is amazing. Then i watched the new movie on Netflix Don't Look Up but the picture was a bit grainy, i checked on the info section on the ATV and it shows 4K Dolby Vision. Same thing with the AppleTV+ series The Shrink Next Door, it was a bit grainy, unlike Foundation (for example), both shows 4K Dolby Vision on the info menu. Is it because it was filmed differently? Like the source format is different? Or am I missing something on my video settings? [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 25 Dec 2021 01:50 AM PST Hi, If I am playing a radio station through Apple Music (TuneIn) and stream this to my Apple TV (HomePod as speaker) Or if I stream something else over my HomePod/AppleTV. My girlfriend also get the controller for Apple TV on her lock screen. When she is turning up her volume for a video on her own iPhone, she is controlling the music through the Apple TV which not make any sense… Anyone who knows how to turn this off? | Posted: 24 Dec 2021 10:53 PM PST So I got the subtitles on for one episode. I went into accessability and changed font to yellow, it's selected and checked. Everywhere I look suggests an option to select subtitles on, however there is no such option in my TV app. I had to tell Alexa to turn on subtitles to get them to activate for one episode. Can anyone tell me there is a real setting for on/off subtitles somewhere? [link] [comments] | ||

I had to set it up this way because my Apple TV started glitching with Dolby vision when it went through my receiver. And yes, my receiver is capable. When i try to airplay any kind of movie, i just get sound from tv but no video. Many TV applications from my country do the same… it worked for me just one time with some really special .mpg4 video format or something like that.. Photogallery and other stuff works just fine. To me it appears that Apple TV handles SDR content much better and gives you more control. I'm asking because the A90J only has 2, 2.1 HDMI ports. The new Apple TV suggest a 2.1. I have a PS5 and XBOXs hooked to a 4K, 120hz 2@1 switcher. I'm left with using the old 4K Apple TV on the 2.0 hdmi or just running Google TV. I'm also deeply invested in the Apple Eco system. I'm pretty disappointed Apple would remove a core feature of the remote. Does anyone know if there are any third party remotes that work with AppleTV and support motion control?
