Can you exclude a device from Homekit geofencing (the child's iPad)? Home cameras wont activate when leaving house.

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 03:38 AM PDT

My wife and I have an iPhone 13, my son an iPad + iPhone 6, which always stays at home. He is in the family group (we all share icloud 2tb account).

If the three of us are absent, but the iPad is at home, the Eufy cameras are not activated via apple geofencing. Is there a workaround that works?

It all worked fine before my son got a new iPad for 2 months ago. Now the cameras wont activate anymore, even tho i have disabled location services etc on the new iPad.

Note: I have disabled location services from my sons ipad and iphone, and only me and my wife are a member of the "home app".

Our home hub is an Apple 4K TV.

    What am i missing here?

Is there a better alternative to the iPhone keyboard?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2021 10:44 PM PDT

before I got my iPhone 12 Pro, I had been using a pretty good Huawei Phone for about 7 years. During those 7 years I used see a lot of memes and my friends (apple users) complaining about the autocorrect, I never had as much of a problem as they did. it was usually a once in a while thing for me .

But ever since I switched over, both me and my friends have noticed a drastic increase in the amount of typos I make. the iPhone Keyboard was just horrible and 3 months later it still is. So it's not even a time thing it's just really bad, from thy autocorrect, the controls, the layout.

And I'm certain I'm not the only one so I was wondering if you guys have any good alternatives apps for a keyboard.

How do I make messenger calls get through Focus mode?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 04:05 AM PDT

Hello. Here's an issue about iOS 15 Focus mode: I prefer using focus mode when I am studying or resting so as not to allow any distracting factors, but I still want to allow calls via Telegram since this is the app I frequently use for calling people. Since a large number of notifications on my phone comes from Telegram as well, just allowing telegram notifications isn't the best option because focus mode wouldn't make much sense then.

So, does anyone know of any way to solve the issue, maybe you faced it yourself?

    Thanks in advance!

    App updates

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 01:30 AM PDT

It's literally been years since my iPhone has ever done an automatic app update, even though I have the option turned on. Tried toggling off and on, rebooting, etc. Everytime I open the App Store I have 70 odd app updates to do manually. Very frustrating. Is there a solution?

Safari opens all links in a new tab

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 07:05 AM PDT

I've noticed that with ios15, everytime I click a new link in Safari, it auto opens to a new tab. It does this in both Tab Bar and Single Tab settings. For example. I open an email about a package being shipped, so I tap the link to take me to the atore's web page, new tab. Store page doesn't show tracking so I tap the UPS link, new tab.

I usually prefer to have one or two tabs open at once, but now I can quickly have multiple open just because I opened a link. I haven't been able to find a setting to turn this off after searching through the phone settings, and on Google. Is this just a new feature that I can't turn off, or is there a way to keep everything on one tab?

    [iOS 15.0.2] Focus mode notifications

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 03:17 AM PDT

    Hi all,

first of all my apologies if this isn't the right place or formatting for asking such a question.

I have set up some focus modes on my iPhone, but ran into a bit of an issue. For work, for example, I would like to silence notifications from WhatsApp (still see them on the lock screen when I slide up for quick access and not missing any, but not getting distracted by them), but I would like to receive them normally from To Do (so I know it's time to move on). Is it possible to differentiate between apps when it comes to silencing notifications? I assume not as it's not mentioned in any of the settings in the focus tab, but maybe there is a workaround with shortcuts anyone knows about?

    Many thanks in advance

Internet Connectivity Issues with iOS 15

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 06:41 AM PDT

Has anyone else seen a significant issues in cellular internet service since updating to iOS 15? I used to have rock-solid communications throughout the city in which I live, including the commute to work. Now, not only does my internet connection drop regularly on my commute, making on-the-go teleconferences almost impossible, but even sitting at home or in the office I will often lose internet connectivity as well. It's often in the same areas that I'm driving where I lose internet connectivity, leading me to believe that it may be related to cell-tower handoffs.

Note that the "bars" display never seems to be affected, usually showing at least three bars throughout. Also, if I go to airplane mode, then back to cell-service ON, it seems to clear the problem. It's almost as if I'm losing my IP lease or some such.

I've updated Carrier Settings and restarted my phone several times. I've not (yet) Reset Network Settings. I'm running iOS 15.0.2 on a iPhone XS Max, using T-Mobile.

I'm hoping others have seen this problem and have solutions they can share.

Pretty sure iOS 15 updates only goal was to get U2 auto playing in my truck again

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:45 AM PDT

I can't remove it. Soon as I turn on my truck it starts playing U2. If I disable Bluetooth first it's fine, but as soon as I turn it back on….U2. I wanna throw away my phone

Alarm volume turned down really low.

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:38 AM PDT

I don't know how to turn it up. I went to sound & haptics and turned it all the way up and it was really loud. I don't have change with buttons turned on. Still it's so quiet it doesn't wake me up at all. How do I fix this?

Twitter links open in safari not the app

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 04:00 AM PDT

First and foremost, I'd like to state that prior to opening this topic, I thoroughly searched Google but found no answers.

When I try to open a link in Twitter, such as a YouTube link, it takes me to Safari. I'd like Twitter or the iPhone to open that link in the YouTube app.... or Instagram or Facebook. I require a solid solution.

Switching from iPhone SE 2020 to iPhone 13 Pro. Help finding a video that teaches all the hand gestures I need to know now

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 03:02 AM PDT

Edit before posting: This post is legit I just woke up and wake and baked so it's a little "fleeting". Sorry. Enjoy

My wife and I went from our iPhone 6s to the iPhone SE, then to the iPhone SE 2020 which are all phones with a physical home button still and fingerprint reader. Welp, we both ordered iPhone 13 Pro's and we've never learned the new gestures that you need to know due to lack of a home button.

It is time for a total overhaul anyway. I've been using the same wallpaper, same app icon setup, same general settings for as long as I can remember. I still don't use widgets. I can't handle not having everything in folders in alphabetical order. From back in the day when you didn't have folders and now I try to make everything I have be on the first screen in folders so I never had to scroll to the next screen. OMG I've become an iPhone Boomer (is that a thing?).

So we ordered new iPhone 13 Pros (only 128g cause holy crap we don't need that much space), new cases, new charging stands and airtags. We each have series 6 Apple Watch's and We have two Apple TV 4k's (last model and the new one) so it's not like we're totally out of it.

Oh and for some reason Carplay sucks now. But anyway, could someone link a great video on what I need to watch to catch up on what I need to know? Remember back in the day when you would watch "tips and tricks" videos? Does that still work for the new iPhones? Like are there tips and tricks that are different than other models?

Anyway, please, for the love of my old arse please help me learn. Now off to eat oatmeal and scream at anyone who steps on my lawn

Disabling "Show Apple Music" in the Music app settings only working for a few hours, then self enables again. Infuriating (iOS 15.1)

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 02:17 AM PDT

I use the Music app but don't have a subscription. Therefore I don't need the extra menus; which can be neatly removed from the settings. Since upgrading to iOS 15, this setting has been flipping its own switch every day or so, forcing me to go back and disable it again.

I used to have an offer for 6 months of AM. I thought this might be the problem so I accepted the offer and unsubscribed immediately. But nope… it's back.

    Any help? :(

Is there a way to get rid of this calendar? Is it a default? I don't remember subscribing to it. I can un-check it but it reverts back to being checked/shown.

New to iOS, is it windows-friendly?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2021 06:28 PM PDT

I'm thinking about getting my first iPhone and got a couple questions about the operating system as I'm not familiar with it at all

Does iOS work well with Windows 10 in terms of file transferring (both ways)? Is it any harder than on android?

Also, how are the files stored internally? I've heard that there is no true folder tree, everything is put in one place. I like to group my photos and other types of media together to export them easier. The folders being only visual for certain apps would seem like a lot of work to do later

I'm also curious how Google apps work on iOS. On my android phone there is a 2FA option to confirm new login attempts to my google account by tapping a popup notification. Is something like this also available on iOS?

Thank you in advance, any help would mean a lot to me

Google Meet issues on iPad Air 4

    Posted: 01 Nov 2021 09:00 PM PDT

So recently, I've gotten into tutoring students in mathematics and as a result I've started using Google Meet on my iPad in combination with JamBoard, where I use my apple pencil to write equations and explain them via meet.

However, for the past week or 2 I've been facing this weird issue/bug where Google Meet kicks me out of my meeting and won't let me rejoin the call no matter how many times I click the rejoin button, and only lets me rejoin after restarting my iPad.

It's not something I can't work with, but it gets really annoying after a while.

Any suggestions to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

So I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I was curious if anyone knows if you can set a contact for a phone number that always has the same 4 first numbers? Ie: 15432537491 15439876789

Would both be under the same contact?

Did apple remove the Find My when in power reserve feature?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2021 06:28 PM PDT

In the iOS 15 beta Apple added Find My functionality to iPhones that had run out of power. It was a really good feature but now in the release build of 15.0, 15.0.1, and 15.1 it's missing. Does anyone know what happened?

iOS 15.1 bug and iPhone 12 overheating issue (help)

    Posted: 01 Nov 2021 02:41 PM PDT

Hello! I've had this phone since June and I immediately noticed there was a overheating issue when I ran bigger/heavier apps so I just stopped using them and only opened them on my iPad where there was no issue whatsoever. But yesterday I was on a WhatsApp call for like 10 minutes and my phone was pretty much burning hot like never before. I had a few other apps open so I closed them all but the temperature didn't get any better. Went online to see how I could fix it and ended up resetting all the phones settings. Temperature went down (finished WhatsApp call), let it sit for awhile then picked it back up (installed iOS 15.1) to put my wallpaper back on and stuff, and noticed my Lock Screen icons (flashlight and camera) were significantly smaller, so were WhatsApp contact pictures and names. Even my keyboard letters look smaller and I've tried display > text size but everything seems the same.. I've looked at a bunch of tutorials but they all tell me to do the same thing and this is really bothering me because I feel like I have to squint at everything I'm reading and if I try to make the text size bigger then it feels like too much - there's no in between like before. Does anyone know any way to fix this or is it just a bug? Thank you for taking the time to read all this.
