I've noticed that selecting non-contiguous text using the Command key in TextEdit (which I use constantly) no longer works. Is there a way to enable it? | macOS toggle certain applications light/dark mode Posted: 30 Aug 2021 10:38 PM PDT Do you have any recommendations for macOS applications that can toggle light/dark mode for certain applications. I personally prefer dark mode for most applications but when it comes to reading, I like light mode. The default mac apps don't have built in dark/light mode toggles. What would be the best way to address this. I have heard of some terminal commands. A couple I have heard of are Gray and Nightowl. I am a little skeptical of Nightowl however as free closed source applications are usually too good to be true (aka malware). [link] [comments]  | ||

Based on all the things I'm reading, I'm strongly considering skipping Big Sur. Should I just update to Catalina for now? Is Catalina even much better? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Reverting from Big Sur to Catalina Mac Pro 6,1 Posted: 30 Aug 2021 02:10 PM PDT Hi everyone, I installed a new 1TB SSD into my MacPro 6,1. I did a clean install of Big Sur and then clocked that the OS wasn't supported by some hardware that we are using (a Pro Tools HDX card chassis). I wiped the SSD and reinstalled Catalina, which was the OS that we were successfully running before the upgrade, then used the Migration Assistant to restore from a CCC backup stored on an external SSD. I can see my new SSD on my desktop as well as it's hidden AFPS "data" volume in disk utility, but I can also see the "data" volume from the Big Sur install as well as a mounted AFPS volume called "update". The Big Sur data volume and the Update volume are also icons on my desktop, not just in disk utility. My question to you is: did I install Catalina incorrectly? Should I delete the Big Sur "data" volume and "update" volume from disk utility? Obviously they keep remounting as soon as the computer is rebooted. Posted: 30 Aug 2021 07:08 AM PDT I heard that Apple will stop releasing Majove security updates by the end of this year. I've been using Mojave ever since its release and been loving it so far. So, if I decided to still stick with Mojave, will there be any incoming problems in terms of security or performance? I'm in no way a tech savy nor a macOS expert, so any advice is appreciated! I have seen several reddit post on how the older macbook seem to lag, having slow response or bad performance after upgrading so I'm quite hesitant to do so.
