Posted: 12 Aug 2021 02:23 PM PDT After initiating a trade in with Apple for an estimated value of $1,550, I sent a pristine, fully functional 2019 Apple MacBook Pro with no damage to the Apple Return Center in Pennsylvania on August 3rd 2021. The laptop was received the next day. On Friday , August 6 I received notice that my trade in value had changed to zero because of a damaged screen, I requested that Apple send the laptop back. I received the laptop back on Wednesday, August 10th in the original, internal packaging, which was undamaged (SoFedEx didn't damage the box). The laptop had a large dent in the corner, the case was bent and the screen was cracked. There was still dust on the spot where the laptop clearly hit the floor. I send in a perfectly good computer and got back junk because Apple damaged it beyond repair. Apple broke my computer and is trying to blame me. I'd like to contact the return center and or file a BBB complaint but Apple is so anonymous. How to procede? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 12 Aug 2021 09:35 PM PDT My iPhone X was out of memory space, so as I usually do I connected it to my laptop to pass them over, but then I noticed it would give me errors every time I tried to import the images. I went to check and all the pictures were blurry and after a few instants a message would appear that the file is either corrupted or not supported. I checked my gallery and everything was completely fine, so I turned on my other pc, installed iTunes in it and tried there. Same thing. Now I'm stuck with 59 gigas of images on my phone and I have no idea what to do. Both my PCs are not Macs [link] [comments]  |

It seems like an obvious feature to have, what with there already being sorting features for live, portrait, etc. photos that I figured there must be some way to do it. Any answers are appreciated! | iPhone 12 Pro Not Getting Service Where Old 7 Plus Reliably Did Posted: 12 Aug 2021 09:00 PM PDT Hi all, I just made a long-awaited upgrade to my iPhone 7 Plus, which I'd had since it was released but had finally cracked the screen. I went with the iPhone 12 Pro, set it up at the store, and went home, only to find out when I got there that the new phone was no longer getting service. Important detail: I live in a forest service cabin in a very spotty service area. Equally important: my old iPhone 7 Plus picked up reliable phone and SMS service there all the time. (Same carrier, Verizon.) Understandably I was pretty disappointed—the new phone got nothing, "No Service," despite all my attempts to fiddle it back to life. I tried switching from "5G On" to "Auto" to "LTE," turning it off and on, airplane mode and back, and every other change I could think of, to no benefit. The new phone gets decent service in town, but I'm confused why it won't pick up the admittedly faint signal that I know exists at my place. My question is, what might be causing this? Could it really be that my old five year old clunker picks up a better signal than this brand new one? If so, why might that be—better hardware, better placement? I have no idea, but I'd love to get to the bottom of this. If there's a quick fix out there I'd be grateful to hear it, but my own googling hasn't found much, and even less related to my specific situation. I'm thinking of just going back and having them switch my number back to the old one, which I still have. But what a bummer. Appreciate any insight y'all might have, and thanks. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 12 Aug 2021 05:17 PM PDT I had accidentally got my iPhone 8 wet for a second time during the summer and it never turned on again. Until recently, I hadn't thought to charge it or attempt to fix it. However, yesterday I charged it overnight and today the home button worked (which doesn't work unless the phone is on right?) although the screen remained black. Is there any hope for my phone being fixed now or is there anything I can do to fix the screen? [link] [comments]  |
| Mac login screen halfway through update? Posted: 12 Aug 2021 05:05 PM PDT Does anybody else have this issue? I've had two macs prior, but this is the first of them to do this. It's an M1 MacBook Air, 16gb, 2TB. With every update, it goes to the black screen with the apple logo and the progress bar. Finishes about half of the update. Reboots to the login screen, but is frozen and won't let you input your credentials, needs to be restarted, then reboots to the login screen and actually does let you enter your credentials, then when you enter them, it goes back to the black update screen and finishes and lives happily ever after. I've never had this with any other Mac, but it's really weird, and it does it for every update now. Any ideas? [link] [comments]  |

| Importing images from old devices Posted: 12 Aug 2021 05:46 PM PDT I've been trying to import images off of my old iPod Touch (Running iOS 4.3.3) and an old iPod Nano (Running software version 1.1.3). When plugging them into my Macbook they appear but I cannot seem to locate images. I am able to access some through the photos app but the majority of them do not seem to appear. | Pictures appeared on my phone which I didn’t take. Posted: 12 Aug 2021 05:29 PM PDT I was told this would be a good place to put this to try and get the answer I am looking for. Suspicious Live Photo's appeared on my phone. I was scrolling through my photos at the end of my day, just so I could look back at what I had done, and I found two photos, both of which were live, and appeared to be of someone's rear end. Not just cheeks, but a close up of the hole, and I definitely didn't take them. They appear to be taken on my bed, and we're taken at 7pm, when I was sitting on my bed with my parents. The last one has movement, and it appears someone's body flips out of the way of the camera, as though someone else was taking them, and got caught by the owner of the hole. I am male, and am under 17, but over 13 (I'd rather not specify exactly) I also checked, and they weren't sent to me. I looked for settings to try turning off airdrop, but looks like Apple has decided I can't do that. Is there any solution to this? It's infuriating that every time I want to share a meme with her I have to be extra careful not to send it to my gd landlord. This is absolutely something I could see being an "dESigN cHOiCe" by Apple, but I don't know for sure, and if I end up making the mistake at this point I'd just switch to a phone that won't force anxiety on me when I try to use the device I paid a grand for. | Iphone parental settings and screen time lock down Posted: 12 Aug 2021 08:08 PM PDT Hello, I am trying to find a way to lock down my three teenagers iphones. I'm an IT dude so technology is easy for me but I'm running into a brick wall with this. So all the phones and kids have their own apple IDs and they have iphones and watches. If I reset their apple passwords and change the screen time passcode they can simply just click forgot password and it'll be sent to them and they can reset the password and undo the screen time passcode to install whatever apps they want or uninstall the parental app I'm going to install. I read that third party apps are out unless you jail break the devices but I don't see a jailbreak for iphone 11 and 12 running the latest iOS version. So I'm reaching out to see if anyone has any ideas as I am running out of them. I HATE apple. If this was an Android I would have already locked it down. [link] [comments]  |

| Car bluetooth adapter and maximum volume woes Posted: 12 Aug 2021 06:54 PM PDT For years I've used a bluetooth to aux car adapter in my 2010 van. The adapter plugs into a power outlet, and has a cable that runs to a ground loop noise isolator. A second cable runs from the isolator to the AUX input. And for ages it worked great. But at some point (iOS 14?) the max volume I could get it to pump out dropped quite a bit. I thought it was my adapter, so I bought a new one but still had the same issue. I need to have the phone, the adapter, and the car volumes all maxed out to reach "sing along without having to hear myself" levels. Plugging in directly to AUX via the lightning port gives much more volume, which makes me think something changed in how iOS handles bluetooth output? I'm using an iPhone 12 right now but also had this issue on my iPhone X. I don't have any of the Headphone Safety features turned on. The adapter is listed as "Car Stereo" in the bluetooth settings panel. So am I crazy, or did something change with regard to BT audio levels? And is there something I can do about it? I don't mind buying a new unit if there is one out there that has a higher volume output. [link] [comments]  |
| Airpod Pro case button won't work Posted: 12 Aug 2021 06:26 PM PDT Hey folks, this riddle concerns some AirPod Pros and an iPhone 8 recently updated to iOS 14.7.1. The initial issue: The case suddenly stopped working with my Qi charger. I'd plunk it down on the pad and get nothing -- no light on case or charging pad indicating a connection. Charging with a cable continued (and continues) to work just fine. In trying to solve this minor annoyance, I tried resetting the case by holding the button on the back, but nothing happened -- no amber light, not even a white light, I mean literally nothing. In trying to fix THAT issue, I followed all the standard advice and: -hit "forget this device" from bluetooth menu -Reset network settings + restart -Updated to the latest iOS -Thoroughly cleaned all Airpod charging contacts (even though the case light briefly shows green when I insert either Airpod individually, indicating that it's successfully contacting them. Ditto with charging cable) None of this worked. When I open the lid, my phone sees that there are airpods nearby and asks if I want to connect. I press yes, but when it tells me to hold down the button on the airpods case, nothing happens. Again, no white lights nor amber lights, no lights of any kind. The case and airpods themselves were all 100% charged when I lost contact, so to speak, and can still be charged with the cable. Have had no battery issues at all prior to this either, so I'm confident that the problem is NOT that the case is dead etc. Any thoughts? Is the button itself just broken?? Currently stuck with a totally working yet totally bricked pair of AirPods that I can't connect to anything.... thanks in advance for any help you can offer! [link] [comments]  |
