Apple - If you’re reading this then know that Apple Support in India is absolutely abysmal. Posted: 01 May 2021 02:28 AM PDT Sorry for the post but I needed to rant. I've lived and purchased Apple products in multiple countries (Canada, UAE, India) and Apple Support in India is hands down the absolute worst. To start things off, Apple has appointed third-party authorized distributors and service providers who fall under the Apple umbrella but are governed independently by their own set of rules. This results in policies that vary from distributor to distributor. Apple India has no return policy at all so if you buy something you don't like then you're screwed. Apple has no physical presence in India and don't have any control over the polices, or lack thereof, of these third-party distributors and service providers which means that the level of service drops considerably. The reason I'm making this post - Couple weeks ago I purchased the AirPods Pro from an Authorized Distributor. Great product and love it so far but I encountered an issue. The lid of the APPs is physically scraping against the right AirPod which is obviously leading to it being scratched. I called Apple Support and they said that it sounds like a manufacturing defect and that I should go to an Authorized Service Provider and have it checked out. When I went there, the Apple representative refused to process my request because apparently I'm not closing the case right. Now, I don't like to flip the case open and flip it back to close it and produce a loud smack. I like to open and close it carefully and slowly because that's just me but the representative's reply was "you're not closing it correctly and the functionality is not being compromised so I can't process this further." Really? The lid is scraping the right AirPod when I close the lid. Isn't that part of functionality? Anyway, after feeling embarrassed, I left. A couple days ago I started noticing that my left APP wouldn't always activate Transparency mode or ANC when I placed it in my ear. I'd get the error "Place both AirPods in ears to activate Noise Cancellation" even though they were both in my ears. This wouldn't happen all the time but happened enough for me to realize that it might be an issue. I also noticed that I could replicate the issue depending on how I positioned the left AirPod in my ear. If I'd place the left AirPod in my ear with the stem facing my mouth then it would work 10/10 times but if I placed it with the same facing downwards then I could replicate the issue consistently. I took them back to the Service Provider and explained my situation. The representative took it to the back and after 10 minutes came back and told me that the diagnostics came back fine and that he updated the firmware. Well, I had already updated to the latest firmware before bringing them in! I then saw that the AirPods were in his ears (EWW!) as a means for him to test them and he said they were fine. I didn't want to argue with them because I found it to be futile since they're absolutely bad at what they do. I decided that it's probably the shape of my left ear that's causing the issue and just agreed with the representative. At this point I was really annoyed that he put them in his ears, especially with how bad the Covid situation is here and insisted that they properly sanitize the APPs before handing them back. I eventually walked out. This Apple experience for me has been completely disappointing, to say the least. These Authorized Resellers/ Service Providers are a very bad look for Apple because of how shitty their customer service is. If anyone plans on buying an Apple product in India then think twice before doing so because I'd anything goes wrong then you're going to have to deal with these imbeciles. For comparison, I've purchased Apple products from other countries and I've been treated like a king when I deal with customer service. For example, I purchased an iPhone 6 Plus in Canada and managed to drop it which resulted in a hairline fracture on the screen. The phone was fine and I carried on with my life. Eventually, the earpiece started giving me problems after a month and Apple was kind enough to replace the entire unit and give me a new one. This is what you expect from Apple and this is exactly what they delivered. Thankfully I've got a 2 years warranty on my APPs and I won't be in India for very long so I won't have to deal with these frauds ever again. Rant over. [link] [comments] |
