| Posted: 04 Mar 2021 11:24 PM PST okay to start off please do not think I am insane. So i was recording a speech for my class using my dslr but i dont have a mic so i was using my phone for audio. I started with voice memos but the quality was trash so i just decided to use the camera and take a video so i can splice the audio later. so the phones back camera was face down so black screen. i recorded everything awesome. when i went to go check the video on the iphone, it said the video was 38 minutes long. that was impossible. now please dont think i am crazy but the speech cut out after about 30 seconds, and the rest of the video just sounded like a monster and just a bunch of creepy noises. spotify was off netflix off everything, idk how that got recorded and dont know how it took a video for 38 minutes when I was only recording for about 6. please help if this has happened to anyone else, or yall know why this happened! | Different used disc space for same number of files on IPhone and Win10 Posted: 05 Mar 2021 12:05 AM PST Hi, I am using a very old IPhone which is quite full (~64k of photos, screenshots and videos). When I normally backup all the accessable files (photos, screenshots and videos), I usually do this by simply connecting the phone via USB to my PC and manually transfer the files (I know, there are other ways to do it but I will not use iTunes, iCloud or 3rd party tool). As a result I always see a difference in used "disc space" on both sides. The IPhone itself uses 50.3GB, while the PC uses 39.3GB for all files (the file count on both sides is the same). What is the explanation for this? My first throught where the different files sytems APFS and NTFS. Is this correct, can some one explan how images are store on IPhone and why there is such an gape? (When I let Windows Explorer calculate the total size of all accessable files on the iPhone, it also matches my copied bytes, but not when I display it to myself in the iPhone. The file types are only images (jpg, png) and videos (mov, mp4)). tl;nr: ~64k files on IPhone are using 50.3GB and on Win 39.3GB. Why? thanks and sorry for my bad english [link] [comments]  |

Last night I had my iphone 12 update from 14.2 to 14.4 and everything was going good (done on itunes VIA MACBOOK AIR) Untill the last I'd say 10 percent when it shows the loading bar on the phone screen and it should be finishing up the update to restart. However it appeared to get stuck on there so I left it all night. Waking up saw that it was still stuck so I unplugged it from the MAC did a hard reboot and it boots up straight to recovery mode everytime. Ive tried DFU mode regular recover mode etc to try to even erase it and reset the phone start from scratch but as soon as itunes starts restoring the phone it gives me a error such as " unable to restore iphone (2009)" and ive tried multiple PC's and USB's. Again to reiterate the phone turns on it just doesnt boot past recovery mode and itunes shows up but it doesnt show any of the info such as S/N phone number etc i assume because its courrpt. | Broken screw hold iphone 6 plus with touch disease Posted: 04 Mar 2021 09:23 PM PST I managed to temporarily fix my iphone 6 plus using the sim card trick seen on YouTube but knocked my fixed phone off the dresser in the middle of the night and upon opening it up to refix it noticed that the screw receptical on the bottom right of the screen shield had broken loose. Is there anyway to fix this without soldering? I tried gorilla glue and it seemed to hold but touch screen is totally unresponsive even by squeezing the phone. Also if i cant use the touch screen will a iphone flash drive recover my pictures and voice memos? [link] [comments]  |

| Can I charge an iPhone 5 battery after I've removed it from the phone? Posted: 04 Mar 2021 02:47 PM PST Hand-me-down Malaysian iPhone 5 (or maybe 5S, I don't remember) that no longer charges. Already diagnosed as a broken U2 IC, so I'm not going to run through all the symptoms here. I already have a replacement on the way and am not invested in trying to fix it, since it sounds like it would be expensive- but if I'm wrong, go ahead and tell me! I would like to get back into my iPhone one more time though, to move some files off, switch whatsapp account to my current phone number, etc. I just need the battery charged up oooonnnnee moooore tiiiiiime... If I pull the battery out of my phone, is there someway I can charge it directly? Connect some cables to the battery, or maybe Amazon has some cheap hardware for this? I'm sure there's a ton of tutorials for this out there already, but my google search results are dominated by articles about how to diagnose iPhone battery issues and I can't find said tutorials. :( Thanks in advance! It has also been very slow lately. All I do on it is text and call my parents and a few friends, email teachers, and scan .pdfs for school, browse Instagram and Safari/DuckDuckGo, set alarms and events on calendar and clock, and listen to Spotify. | Posted: 04 Mar 2021 04:00 PM PST For the past week, I've been having problems with my messages. I get notifications from everybody except ONE person. It's super annoying. I don't have do not disturb enabled, nor is it set for that one specific person. Along with not receiving the notifications, it acts as though I have already opened the message, so I never even see the little indicating number that I even have something in my inbox. I've tried restarting my phone at least 15 times and it hasn't fixed the problem. Has anyone else dealt with this?? How can i fix it? I feel like I've tried everything. Posted: 04 Mar 2021 02:56 PM PST It gives me an error message that I can't download said iOS because I am not connected to the internet yet I am connected to the wifi I even bought more cloud storage just to back everything up and make sure storage wasn't an issue Resetting the network settings doesn't seem to work. I'm particularly interested in how I could manage my music files, I need to be able to transfer my mp3 files from my current phone to the iPhone when I get it. | Help me figure out if my iPhone 11 Pro screen is genuine Posted: 04 Mar 2021 01:09 PM PST I bought a used iPhone 11 Pro and have noticed some brightness flickering. It maybe happens once every twenty minutes and lasts for a second or two. I had a look in the display settings to see if I could tweak something to fix it and noticed that the "True tone" setting was missing. This got me worried that the display isn't genuine, but when looking in Settings (General -> About) for the "Important display message"-text I couldn't find it. Is it possible that true tone is missing with the original display? Is it possible that the display has been replaced with a non-genuine one without the "Important display message" appearing? Are there any other methods of checking if it's genuine? I have two weeks to return the phone and if it's not genuine I'll send it back immediately. [link] [comments]  |

I understand that I need to wipe/reboot it but my problem is i dont know how. For context, my volume up button is permanently broken, its just been like that for a while so idk how to manually reset it. | iPhone 12 - Gap on right-hand side of back panel. Is this normal? Posted: 04 Mar 2021 03:50 AM PST I recently purchased a brand new iPhone 12. It's a great phone really enjoying it, but I did notice early on that on the back of the phone, the glass panel doesn't appear to be centred with a very small gap on the right side. The left side is almost perfectly flush with the frame. I didn't mind this at first but after a week, the right side of the phone has started to collect dust and particles in the gap on the back panel. I have also now had a proper look and you can actually see something behind the panel through the gap, which looks like either some connectors for the side buttons or perhaps even the glue holding the back panel on. I've had an iPhone 7 before which had a uniform gap all the way round the screen which caused no issues in the long term, however, you could not see any 'internals' through it and it was consistent all the way round. So my question is, is this normal or should I flag it to Apple? I am still in my return period but the phone is perfect otherwise (no screen issues etc.) and so I would not want to replace this unless it is a defect. Does anyone else have this gap on the back? Update: I spoke to another Apple support person this evening and sent over better pictures. He said it does not look normal to him and he thinks the seal is not sitting right, he has asked me to return the device for a refund given I'm within the 14 day return period.
