    Emby App URL?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 09:37 PM PST

Hi, Does anyone using the Emby app know the secret URL format the app requires to find the server? In a browser I use https://emby.domain.com, in other apps I use https://emby.domain.com and have to blank out the default port field.

So far I've tried: https://emby.domain.com:443 and https://emby.domain.com and emby.domain.com:443 with no luck.

    Any pointers?

    SD Movies With 4K Tag

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 01:41 PM PST

I have several SD movies in my library that all show up in the 4K HDR tab and have a 4K label in the Apple TV app. This really threw me off because I was wondering why the picture quality looked so bad when it showed it as a 4K movie. After I bought another copy of the movie in HD and saw how much better it was, I realized the original movie must have been in SD.

Is there any way to see what quality the movies in your library will stream in without having to stream each movie and figure it out yourself? I don't know why Apple would put titles you bought in SD under the 4K HDR tab.

tvOS 14.4 update bricked my Apple TV 4K

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 07:09 PM PST

Last night before I went to bed I ran the software update for my AppleTV from tvOS 14.3 to 14.4. This morning when I went to watch TV, it is flashing two times and then pause. There's nothing coming up on the TV, no video signal. Trying to restart with the remote doesn't work I don't think the remote is connecting to the AppleTV. I unplugged the device for more than a minute and plugged it back in but no change. Does anyone have any other suggestions what to do? I live in Thailand so taking it to an Apple store is not an option. Thank you.

    Apple TV remote controls volume

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 10:29 AM PST

    Bit of an odd query:

A while back, maybe 6 weeks, I'm sure my Apple TV remote would control my amp's volume without it needing to be in the same room, presumably via WiFi.

More recently, something changed, and it's now only possible to use it like a normal remote, ie pointing at the amp.

Did I imagine this? Or has anyone else experienced it?

I'd love to return to the first scenario, as it was great to stand in the kitchen and change the volume!

Netflix crashes the second I open it

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 07:20 AM PST

Just got an Apple TV, and all the apps are working fine so far except Netflix. Every time I try to open it up it instantly crashes, I've deleted it, redownloaded it, unplugged the power, plugged it back in, but it still crashes. Anyone else got this issue?

Edit: after reading comments I took advice to update the AppleTV and it was effective, just FYI for anyone else having a similar issue looking for a solution.

Starting Apple TV+ free trial without a payment method.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 06:23 AM PST

    Hey guys,

I'm over 18 and got 1 year of Apple TV+ for free with my mac purchase. I don't have a valid credit or debit card to connect to my Apple ID; can I start my subscription with an iTunes gift card balance? I think this method works for Apple Music and iCloud storage.

Compared to on Netflix, Atmos Track on Apple TV+ seem to be mostly window dressing ... underwhelming on most of their content
