If Apple Music on macOS is REALLY the iPadOS app... Posted: 07 Nov 2020 01:09 PM PST why can I only add smart playlists on macOS? I even tried using the keyboard shortcut (CMD+Option+N), which also doesn't work. Apple claims that the macOS Music app is the same as on iPadOS, and was one of the first apps they "ported" to macOS using their own frameworks. Now obviously the syncing and related functionality is in Finder, so I wouldn't expect that on iOS. But Smart Playlists?? Why not? I'm genuinely curious if this is either 1) Apple is focused on other things and such functionality is not a priority, or 2) there's something on iOS / iPadOS limiting the capabilities. If you have any insight, please share :) Don't get me started on Cross Fade playback.... lol [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Nov 2020 03:00 PM PST Apple could fix the issue of monitors not being detected after sleeping. It's been happening since 2015-2016, and still no real fix has been made, besides people unplugging/replugging the hubs. What is this windows vista? [link] [comments]

Can't connect to AirPods since 19H15 update on Catalina Posted: 07 Nov 2020 02:20 PM PST So I can't even connect to my AirPods since the latest 19H15 one. I tried resetting it, it isn't detected unless I re-add it from my iPhone. Yay. [link] [comments]

I think the new icons in Big Sur are making it harder to work with macOS Posted: 07 Nov 2020 07:06 AM PST I know it has been discussed a lot, but I want to talk about it objectively one more time. They claim they have introduced these new rectangular icons for the sake of consistency, I think this consistency is important for operating systems of small screen devices (iOS) where the screen is small and if each icon has its own shape and size then the screens that show lots of icons together (e.g. home screens) will be crowded and annoying. So I think it is justified to not only use rectangular icons for iOS own icons, but enforce third party applications to also use rectangular icons. But for the macOS with lots of real estate I think we do not need to worry about crowded screens with icons of different shapes. Actually it will be more harmful than useful if we enforce consistency of the shape for application icons, because it will make it harder to find icons in the big screen. For example in macOS 10 when I held command and pressed tab I could easily find Safari icon in few milliseconds, my eye just had to find the big blue circle with white elements on it, now it is very confusing, after few weeks I still can't find it quickly as its shape and color is the same as App Store icon, Finder icon and Mail icon (shape: rectangle, main color: blue, secondary color: white) it is hard to find icons in the big screen if they don't have their own shape identity. Excel extern data queries on macOS Posted: 07 Nov 2020 04:26 AM PST I recently bought a MacBook Pro to pretend slick. I soon realized that this is not my excel lol. Anyways, my problem is that I have to create many .iqy files (is there a better solution?) to make extern data queries. Somehow there is a limit of 12 queries. Trying to include more makes an error message appear. So what is to do? I need at least 24 extern data queries in one sheet. If there is no solution, what else can I do? Is winebottler the way to go and start excel for windows? I don't want a virtual machine knowing that it takes huge amount of power und battery. Thanks folks! [link] [comments]
