Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:17 PM PST My mind tends to be all over the place these days with too many ideas, and I'm looking for a way to sort them out either via drawing out mindmaps or lists with a combination of images/text /videos /web links/audio. If timelines could be added even better! I'm quite comfortable with drawing and would like an app that's easy and intuitive to use. Paid apps recommendation are welcome too! [link] [comments]
Anybody else started using their MacBook significantly less after getting an iPad? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 04:16 PM PDT I've been using the Air 4 since launch and just realized how rarely I use my macbook now. The only time I use my macbook is for programming. For everything else i just subconsciously pick up my iPad. [link] [comments]

New Apple Pencil 1 suddenly stopped working Posted: 01 Nov 2020 11:17 AM PST Hi everyone! The title says it all. I just bought the Apple Pencil 1 & an iPad (8th generation) on October 23rd. I was able to doodle just fine on Procreate until about 3 days ago. At first the lines started to skip, so I took off the screen protector and it worked great until yesterday, when the pencil started to act up again. Now it's not working at all. 9 out of 10 times, when i make a line with the pencil, nothing appears on the screen. But when I draw with my finger, it works. So this made me think the problem is the pencil and not the ipad itself. Tried swiping the screen & tapping various apps using the pencil as well - it's not working. I've tried the following with no luck:
Nothing worked and I'm feeling sad :( I just bought the thing after years of wanting it. I also want to doodle so badly rn lol I'm planning to brace the outside world tomorrow to go to the Apple store where I bought the pencil and ask them about it, but I thought I'd ask here as well. Anyone else has encountered this problem before? Thanks so much in advance! ♥️ [link] [comments]
Does anyone else DJ, or make podcasts with their iPad? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:58 AM PST So here's the thing; I used to have a radio show, way back in the less pandemicky days of 2008 in an actual, honest-to-goodness studio, and I loved it. Fast forward to now, a friend of mine is about to launch an internet station and has offered me a weekly slot. Of course I jumped at the chance. I'll be doing it from home by logging into the Icecast server. Thing is, I'm a massive tart for doing everything from my iPad. So that's become my mission. Here's where I currently am... The bulk of the presenting will be done from DJay2. Not DJay Pro, the shiny new version with multiple decks and all the bells and whistles, because the newer version doesn't work with the second part of my process: AudioBus. The old version of DJay does, and it's a vital and annoying omission, quite frankly. For those who are unfamiliar, AudioBus is a neat little app that predates AUv3 plugins, which allows you to take audio from several sources, combines them, then sends them on to a receiving app. In my case, it's the third link in my chain: Izicast. A simple app that can connect to my station's Icecast server and send the resultant audio. Another hurdle is that DJay doesn't support USB microphones (so far as I can tell). Which is another place that AudioBus comes in. I've set it up so that DJay shares an input with my mic. Then all I need to do is slide Audiobus over DJay and mute/fade the mic as needed. The final piece of the puzzle is the part I'm currently a bit stuck on... If I want a music bed to talk over, I can currently only do it in one of two ways: Either play the bed as a track with the volume dipped, taking up one of my two precious decks, or install it as a sample that can be fired off with one touch. To avoid having to juggle the music in the decks, I'm taking the second option, but those pads have no way of stopping them until the audio has run out. So a five minute piece will run for five minutes until it stops. I can mute the volume, but the volume is then muted for all of the samples, so jingles and idents will also be muted. Ultimately I'll figure out a workaround as I go along, but if that's the only real issue I'm coming up against, then I can't really complain, can I? What I'd like is a sample pad that works with audiobus, that I can mute when it's not in use, but so far I've not found what I'm looking for. And yes, all of this would be relatively simple on even my elderly 2011 MacBook, but where would be the fun in that, eh? So yeah, does anyone else do anything like this with their iPad? I have to say, it doesn't seem like it, because I've had to do a LOT of searching for answers over the past few days, and there doesn't seem to be much out there to help. Which makes it quite satisfying that I think I've managed to put together a decent solution. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:44 AM PST Hi all, So firstly, if this belongs on an art subreddit, let me know. I really want to get into art, but I have infamously shaky hands. Ive been using Procreate, but I really struggle to get smooth straight lines. Ive tried doing some of the drills to improve it, but haven't had much luck sadly. I am interested in mainly doing Anime-style art for fun because I'm. Massive nerd. Ive been thinking Vector art seems like something that would fit my goals well if I understand it correctly (I may not). Now the actually relevant part for this Sub:

iPad Air for editing photos and videos Posted: 01 Nov 2020 04:57 AM PST Hello, I am thinking about getting the 2020 iPad Air as a replacement for a laptop to consume media on longer train rides etc., and to occasionally do amateur video/photo editing. From what I've googled, it seems like the device should be good enough for that. What I kinda don't get is - how does the workflow with transfering videos/photos from an iPhone work with iPad OS? Do they sync over iCloud (including RAWs shot with e.g. Halide), or is there some way to share them directly between the two devices without using data (since I do not have unlimited data plan)? Also, if I will want to edit scans of photos shot on an SLR, do I need to save them into the Photos app? Can I have them on some cloud storage? So far, iPhone is my only Apple device, and I usually just transfered my stuff into PC via USB cable, and edited in Affinity Photo/Resolve, so I have no idea with the workflows between two Apple devices. If anyone could explain the process, I'd be eternaly grateful! [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2020 09:35 AM PST What can you do on an older ipad to improve its performance/ general speed. Don't worry if you can't its just that I have a few older iPads that I want to sell and I want to get as much money as I can out of them [link] [comments]
Best accessories for iPad (studying) Posted: 01 Nov 2020 09:26 AM PST Hi, so I am contemplating getting a wireless keyboard for my iPad pro 11 to use it for studying. The one apple make looked great until I saw the price so that's a no go. I've seen 2 which look quite nice so just looking on here to see if people recommend them or if there's a much better one I've not seen. My top two currently are: Logitech K380 Wireless Mulit-device keyboard OMOTON Ultra-slim Blietooth Keyboard I like the slant the Logitech keyboard has so that it means the keyboard isn't flat against the surface, but I also like the back-lit look of the OMOTON keyboard. Are either of these clearly superior over the other or is one noticeably louder? Also, would anyone recommend a wireless mouse for an iPad? I didn't realise that was a thing until amazon showed one in a package with a keyboard. Is a mouse good for studying using the iPad or is it just excessive? Any tips are much appreciated! Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:43 PM PST Hi everyone. i have had multiple tablets over the years (multiple Samsung tabs which stopped working within six months) and currently have a iPad Air 2 which I have had for nearly four years and it has been consistently reliable throughout this time. However, I am thinking about starting a podcast soon and I have heard that the audio quality of the Pros are among the best (paired with an equally good microphone, obviously) and I am also interested in additional internal storage as I currently have 32GB which always goes to the limit regularly and I struggle to find podcasts and apps to delete and, even when I do, it still ends up filling back up quickly. The main reason for asking the question is, is there a significant enough difference between the four devices for what I need, or could I accomplish what I am hoping to on my current iPad Air 2 with another solution for extra storage? Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
iPad air 2 - connect to TV and ethernet? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:56 AM PST Hi folks, Is there an adaptor or docking station for the iPad air 2 that will support
Use case is to use iPad for zoom calls via TV instead of buying an additional computer connected to TV plus webcam etc. Ethernet and usb are the least important. If there is a device that does it all, great, otherwise I just need hdmi and charge. Many thanks! [link] [comments]
How do I take care of my IPad? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 10:57 PM PDT Hii this is my first ever post on this subreddit. So in the first half of the year, I finally decided to go digital and use a tablet for school. After many discussions with my mom (she used a samsung tablet and an ipad mini for her work and uni stuff), I decided to get an IPad. I considered getting an IPad air but my mom pushed for me to get an IPad Pro since at that time, it had just released. I ended up getting the 512gb 11" one. (OOF MY WALLET THO.) After using it for a few months, I realised now I haven't exactly been taking care of it well lol. I primarily charge my ipad using my laptop due to the set up of my study desk, and I tend to use it while it charges. This includes playing heavy games like Genshin Impact. I never really thought of the battery % of the ipad mainly because I can't exactly see it, but after reading through this subreddit, I realised that if I want to continue using my ipad pro for the next 5 years, I need to learn to take care of it. Hence the question. How do I take care of my IPad Pro so that it'll be able to serve me well for possibly the next 5 years +? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2020 02:43 PM PDT I returned the Pro and have been using the Air for a week and it's incredible. I use my Macbook Pro solely for music production now and everything else I shifted to on the iPad. I got the 256GB and personally I value it much more over the 128GB Pro and I still get it for $70 cheaper (Canadian). 120Hz display, Face ID, 6GB RAM, quad speakers and LIDAR is something I can live without and 256GB is the minimum I'd consider for storage. AppleCare is also half the price so the overall package is a much better deal. I also noticed that the Air feels snappier than the Pro in most cases and I find that a lot of people are underestimating the 42% increase in single-core performance. I felt the speed difference immediately. The backlight bleed issue is there in one small spot as others have mentioned, but it's really only noticable with a black image. Don't worry about it too much and get a replacement in a few months when it's fixed in production. Apple should honor your warranty for that for a whole year. [link] [comments]
Screen protector + waterproof case. Does it work? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:17 AM PST Hi! I'm planning on getting a waterproof case for my iPad. I was thinking this one: https://www.tabletcovers.dk/products/ipad-pro-11-4smarts-rugged-waterproof-case-stark-vandtaet-cover-black Does anyone have any experience using hardened glass screen protectors underneath (?) this case? Do you think it's necessary? Would the Apple Pencil still work fine? I'm using the iPad Pro 11 2018. I'm using it mainly for school and art so the usability of the Apple Pencil is quite important to me hehe Thank you! [link] [comments]
Is there any way to turn off optimised battery charging? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 09:47 AM PST I've read that there is an option to turn it off for faster charging but I'm not sure where. Please let me know! [link] [comments]
A small wish for next gen iPads Posted: 31 Oct 2020 02:08 PM PDT Dear Apple, People use their iPads more on landscape mode. WFH locked us into Zoom meetings, please relocate the front camera. Also enable developers to use camera/call kit fully to let consumers use PIP in zoom calls. [link] [comments] |
