hi everyone, been having an issue with my mac and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. my mac screen turns off whenever i open my mac too much. it used to be at around a 90 degree angle, but over time it can now barely open more than 50 degrees. it's borderline unusable. it's a 2017 macbook pro, if anyone knows any fixes, i'm all ears. thanks

    "Take this lollipop" horror game.

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 09:38 PM PST

Hey guys, just played this stupid flash, horror game on safari and it messes around with your camera and your information to try and scare you. I am wondering if anyone else has tried it and it experiencing a problem where the fan (even when game is closed and computer has been restarted) is running at full speed and isn't stopping. Quite concerned at this point. I have a MacBook Air 2020 btw.

Other category in storage takes up 100/121GB of memory.

Ive had this problem for quite a while, but the other category of my storage has slowly been creeping up to now unusable levels. Ive manually deleted high storage applications, deleted old large files and downloads, cleared caches, and bought CleanMyMac, but nothing seems to be working.

Ive had to delete important applications like Word and Excel just to keep my computer able to function!

    Help!

Right side CPU fan slower than left, making some noise

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 12:10 PM PST

    Hello,

I have a mid 2015 MBP retina with an i7 quad. I recently noticed that one of the fans has been making some noise after the fans have been running for a while. Without opening the bottom panel, just by listening I thought I heard the right fan making the noise, but I'm not 100% sure. That being said, I installed iStats Menu, and have noticed that the right fan is running about 450rpm slower (at 100%) than the left - 5700 vs 6156. I've read on some forums that a couple hundred rpm difference is considered 'normal'. What are the opinions on here? 450rpm I think is significant. My CPU has been running a bit hotter. I'm wondering if this is the fan that's been making noise, and simply can't spin up to its normal speed?

13 month old Macbook won't charge

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 10:40 AM PST

Have tried the usual fixes (including resetting SMC).

It's just so annoying. We bought two Macbooks, one has had to have the keyboard replaced, then the trackpad.

Now, on the other, apparently it needs a battery replacement. Can't update to the latest version of Catalina because not enough power left (this happened overnight and 1 day after a previous update).

Nearest Apple store is 1 hour away.

Testing to see if it will run off A/C power in any case - it should, right? Zoom teacher here.

    MBA 2020 cracking hinge noise

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 09:43 AM PST

My MBA 2020 makes a cracking hinge noise when I open/ close its lid. This does not happen consistently so I unfortunately can't take a video of it.

The volume/ intensity of the sound varies, but it's never too loud. I'm concerned that this is a sign of a loose screw- and eventually, a display problem.

Similar concerns are posted on YT, but those are more of a click or popping noise (reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcMy71RSzEk). This isn't what I hear.

Also: I use a hard case and a keyboard cover.

Anyone experience this? Any help? Thank you very much.

Brand new water damaged MBA quoted as a loss please help

Bought in August, spilled water on the keyboard last weekend. Repair place quoted $540 to replace the logic board so they can run diagnostics ($1,549 as built with education discount) but said it could potentially cost more to repair than to buy a new one, depending on what else is damaged. Had no insurance, and I bought it with college savings for my first semester. Can I recoup some of my cost of buying a new one if I sell it as-is? Do I take the risk that the repair will cost more? Any advice is appreciated.

Edit: the only problem evident was that it wouldn't charge. It booted up the morning after (I flipped it and powered it down) and ran fine, I used it for homework and web browsing for a couple of hours then plugged it in and neither thunderbolt would take a charge, but one of them still charged my phone. After it ran out of battery it would still display the "plug me in" symbol, now that it's drained it doesn't do anything. Still won't charge.

Side effects of using skins and cases

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 12:47 PM PST

So I have bought the 2020 MacBook Air i5 two month ago. I have the gold one and I'm bored of the color, I don't like it as much and it doesn't feel right. It's too late to return it, and i don't know anyone who has a silver or gray one who wants to exchange with me.

My question is for those who have the same laptop and are using skins/cases, how is it doing? Cause my MBA heats up sometimes and I'm thinking maybe the skin or the case will worsen the situation? And which is better for heat, a skin or a case?

Does anyone know how I can fix that??

Question about suitable solar chargers and power banks for MacBook Pro mid-2014

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 09:14 AM PST

I'm going to spend a few months in the wilderness in a cottage without direct access to electricity. I bring my iPhone 8+ and MacBook Pro (2014) with the standard EU-fit electric socket charger (Magsafe 2 85W). I'm looking for suitable solar chargers and power banks for this end.

However, most solar chargers and power banks seem to be either only USB-fit/power-cable fit and not socket-fit and those that are socket-fit, are extremely expensive (close to 800 euros or so).

So, few questions: Are there reasonably priced socket-fit power banks or solar rechargers in the market for this end? Does there exist an alternative charger for my MacBook that would work through USB or power cable? Can you recharge power banks through solar chargers?
