    Pre-Order and Shipping Megathread | iPhone 12 & iPhone 12 Pro

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 10:05 PM PDT

    Hey /r/Apple!

In an attempt to curb the number of threads about pre-order choices/configurations, shipping statuses, etc, we are asking that all discussion about it remain in here. We are setting the sort of this thread to new so that users receive the latest updates at the top of the thread when they open the comments.

Note: Preorders for the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Mini is set to start on November 6th. There will be a megathread for those then, for the HomePod Mini, and iPad Air 4.

Apple’s October Event nears 50 million views; More than WWDC’s, Sep. AE’s, Samsung’s Note 20, Oneplus’ 8T and Google’s Pixel 5 event combined.

I thought this was pretty interesting. Apple events never really reached super high numbers (always around 8-11 million usually), but this one is an anomaly. The fact that this event has reached blockbuster trailer views is pretty incredible (for reference, Black Panther, Captain Marvel trailer views are around the same ballpark). Regardless of how disappointed, underwhelmed many Apple fans/tech enthusiasts are every year, I think this is an interesting metric to show the bubble we live in and that at the end of the day, Apple is the MCU in the tech industry—beloved and popular. Anyways, just thought it was something interesting to point out.

Final Cut Pro X to receive an update later this year with support for editing Dolby Vision

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 06:42 AM PDT

    https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2020/10/apple-introduces-iphone-12-pro-and-iphone-12-pro-max-with-5g/

iPhone 12 Pro models offer the highest quality video in a smartphone, and are the first cameras and only devices in the world to enable an end-to-end experience for HDR video with Dolby Vision, up to 60 fps, and even better video stabilization for cinema-grade productions. Dolby Vision grading is processed live and sustained during editing, whether in the Photos app or iMovie, and coming to Final Cut Pro X later this year. Dolby Vision takes advantage of the Super Retina XDR display for amazing contrast during capture and video playback, and users can share their videos with support for AirPlay up to 4K Dolby Vision to external devices.

What does your Apple "e-waste" look like? How much have you collected over the years?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 09:58 AM PDT

I know that there are mixed opinions about Apple's decision about excluding the headphone and adapter for this year's iPhone. I just wanted to share an image of the headphones and adapters me and my family have collected over the years that we are not using and only laying around in a drawer.

    • 2x 3,5mm headphone
    • 2x lightning headphones
    • 1x USB-C - lightning cable
    • 4x USB-A - lightning cable
    • 1x USB-A - Apple Watch cable
    • 1x USB-C - Apple Watch cable (semi-using: bought it for traveling but due to pandemic)
    • 3x iPad adapter
    • 4x iPhone adapter
    • 1x lightning to 3,5mm

Have some of you similar experience about collecting things over the years? And with that in mind, how does it affect your opinion about Apple's decision?
