If I buy an HD movie on AppleTV will it automatically upgrade to 4K if/when that becomes available?

I want to get the movie Drive (2011) on AppleTV but it's only in HD. I read that a 4K edition is now in production and may come out next year. IF that becomes available on AppleTV/iTunes, will I get a free automatic upgrade or not? What if the 4K edition includes Extras (while the current HD one doesn't), will I get them for free? Thanks

Edit: apparently it's relevant what country I'm in: Australia. Based on comments it seems it's luck of the draw so I might hold out for the 4k release. Also it seems a different studio is doing the remaster which males it less likely the upgrade will be free:

Is there a way to stream videos that are blocked on atv?

    Posted: 04 Sep 2020 12:58 AM PDT

I recently purchased an Apple TV 4K and wanted to stream a video from my iPad. I could stream it on my iPad just fine but as soon as I tried to mirror it to my TV, the video stopped and changed to black. If I understand other posts correctly this is because of drm blocks. Is there any way to circumvent those blocks? Where I live I can only use Netflix and Amazon Prime for streaming, so I have to stream shows that aren't available there via other websites.

    Doctor Who iTunes purchase

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 02:29 PM PDT

So I bought the complete sets for Doctor Who (the $30 ones that are split by Doctor, not season). When I go to look at them in the ATV app, all of the episodes are jumbled and out of order. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Apple TV+ in web browser -- is there really no search function?

    Posted: 04 Sep 2020 02:15 AM PDT

Trying out Apple TV+ running in Chrome from Windows. Is there really no genres menu, categories, or even search function?

I just see a home page with about a dozen featured shows and movies/trailers. They can be played, but not even all of the Apple original content is listed. Where the hell is the rest of it? What am I missing here?

Best method of loading or streaming my local media local media into the AppleTV

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 08:49 AM PDT

I currently have a lot of media files on an iMac that I'd like to be able to view and navigate on the AppleTV 4K edition. Is Plex Server currently the best app/solution to be able to stream all of my media over to the AppleTV so that I can select what I want to watch and then have it show up on the TV? Some of my videos are in 4K high resolution from a Go-Pro, so I'm not sure whether AirPlay from the iMac in the other room would be suitable for this. I've heard of Kodi, but it is was supposedly removed from the TvOS AppStore. I hear Plex is really popular, but if Plex isn't the most suitable application, then what would be my best bet to serve the content from my iMac and what would be the best app to receive it on my AppleTV? I'm somewhat tech savvy with technical things, but I would prefer a solution that would run only within my local network behind my router and without jailbreaking or side-loading apps onto the AppleTV 4k. Thank you for any advice you can provide.

AirPlay not working properly with YouTube

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 11:29 PM PDT

Last week there was a sudden power interruption while AirPlaying from my phone a YouTube video (same day YouTube updated it's iOS app). Everything else works just fine (including AirPlaying other things like Music, Netflix, etc). I decided to reset my AppleTV but the problem persists. Is it YouTube that is the problem or did the power outage affect my AppleTV in some way?

Apple TV 3 - Recommended section vanished

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:11 PM PDT

my "home" tab is just a bunch of random playlists from channels i follow, and the times it shows, its just some "youtube mix" for things i don't even care about (like i never watch music video on youtube logged in the apple tv account, mostly news and late shows, and all the "mixes" are pop music videos) i really only watched videos from the Recommended and Recently uploaded sections and now both are gone, anyone else in the same boat?

    Turn off Dolby Vision?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 02:32 PM PDT

I've got a Sony X900F 50" with Apple TV 4K. Just purchased the tv this week and I noticed the DV content is way too dark. Brightness is maxed out and just dim. Is it possible to turn off Dolby vision on ATV and just use HDR?

TNT app freezes every couple of minutes...

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 04:47 PM PDT

Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm running AT&T Fiber so internet is no issue. It just freezes for a couple seconds every few minutes, game or commercial.

Anyone have a fix for this?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:27 AM PDT

Why does my ATV 4K work but FS does not

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 04:57 AM PDT

So, I have a synology 918+ running at my house. There, i run a couple Apple TV's via gigabit and everything works flawlessly. My internet is 200 down and 15 up.

At work, in my bedroom, I have a Amazon Fire Stick 4K set up to stream off my server. Sometimes I'll play a file and it will work perfectly. Other times like last night and today, I try and play a movie and the sound works for about 5 seconds and then cuts out. If I go to convert at original quality and then back to convert automatically, it will work for an unspecified amount of time (maybe 5 seconds, maybe 5 minutes) and then cut out again. Internet speed at work is 200 down and 30 up.

The files I tested were 1080p .mkv files.

I brought my ATV 4K in and tried it on the same WiFi with the same HDMI cable and same port on the TV and it works flawlessly. I don't understand why. I feel like an idiot for even wasting time with a cheap fire stick, but curious as to why? Does the Apple TV deal with compression better? Does it cover more codecs?

Just looking for some insight and thoughts.

    Thanks
