Posted: 06 Jul 2020 09:31 PM PDT I really like this model of streaming. I know Amazon does this too, but Apple's version of it just looks so good. I wish more networks like Fox, NBC (Peacock), CW (even if its just CW Seed), Spike and larger services like Disney+ and HBO Max became channels as well. The ecosystem integration, video quality, ability to download for offline viewing, and picture in picture (this looking like it'll be OS-wide in tvOS 14) makes TV Channels so much more appealing to me than separate apps. Apps like Hulu, Amazon Video, and Neflix I can understand keeping them as their own apps, as they themselves are a bundle service of sorts from other networks as well as their own content. But I would love it if regular cable channels had their own a la carte channels to subscribe to through the TV App. That being said, it seems like its popularity is waning, or at least being slept on. HBO pulling its channel out in favor of its Max app, as well as no real news on the TV App in general during WWDC '20 is telling that all is not well with the service. Which is a shame to me as I do see real potential with this a la carte option of streaming content. Perhaps Apple needs to make having them more financially attractive to networks, but I believe they should invest in growing this service as they are with their own Apple TV+ channel/service. Batman Vs Superman Ultimate Edition Extended Edition in 4k? Posted: 07 Jul 2020 03:27 AM PDT Says it in the title. Does anyone know if the extended cut is in 4k on iTunes? [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jul 2020 03:10 AM PDT So new to Apple TV - given to me. How do I know what version I have and how do I get other people's emails out of it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jul 2020 11:32 AM PDT It saddens me that Tom Hanks is sadden by this, I get it of course but I believe we're moving in the right direction. Yes a theatrical release would of been great and Tom's reasoning for wanting it is because many people don't have a Home Theater with a 4K HDR capable TV and a surround sound system. I'm fortunate enough to have a "home theater" (55inch OLED TV w/ 2.1 sound system) and cannot wait to watch this and even if there was both a theatrical release and a streaming release I would've opted to stream it at home anyways. I think the idea of maybe having films released in both theaters and streaming platforms is the future and hopefully the numbers for Greyhound are killer and beat Hanks expectations but unfortunately they won't be anywhere near the numbers theaters could've pulled, yet. Part of it being because only Apple TV+ subscribers will have the option to view it and or even know about it. [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Jul 2020 08:51 AM PDT Had a power surge from lightning on Saturday. The apple tv was still working afterwards but I lost internet. It eventually went to sleep on its own while I was out getting a new modem. Came back and it will not turn on. No light on at all. Tried unplugging everything, tried pressing the two buttons on the remote, also plugged into my PC with itunes. I already went out and purchased a 4k version, just want to make sure there's nothing else I can do before I toss it/ebay it. Its a 4th gen, HD. [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jul 2020 09:32 AM PDT I was on my Apple TV until early this morning, then when my kids tried to use it eight hours later navigating through the menus is entirely unusable and sluggish. Both using the remote and the app. Swiping through apps and menus there is a big delay from my movements to when the Apple TV decides to move. I don't think it updated during this time and there have been no changes to my setup in this eight hours. I don't believe it's an internet connection issue as it's sluggish even on the home screen. Google search suggests changing the hdmi cable but I'm having a hard time believing that suddenly it went bad in less than eight hours. Any thoughts or ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jul 2020 02:43 PM PDT Theres a couple of my titles that I obtained outside of normal channels that appear in my library. Somehow they're available to me to stream on any of my devices. They're toy story/minion mini movies that I got for my kids. For some reason, the Apple TV app thinks I bought them. Any idea why this happened? I've since bought the movies so these are duplicates. They appeared as purchases before I'd actually bought them. [link] [comments]
If I force everything into 4K SDR, am I losing anything other than HDR/Dolby Vision? Posted: 06 Jul 2020 12:38 PM PDT So I have an LG C8, and in the HDR modes there is this "Real Cinema" feature that is forced "on" that I absolutely despise. It makes things look too smooth - almost like a Soap Opera Effect, but not quite. I've tried all the workarounds I've found online, but I really can't quite defeat it. You CAN, however, disable it entirely in SDR modes. So my question is thus - if I just force everything into 4K SDR on the Apple TV, am I losing anything other than HDR/Dolby Vision? I've had my set pro calibrated and if it's going to totally throw off the calibration, I can deal. But my alternative up to this point has been just to turn on BFI, which fixes the motion but may actually be worse in other ways. [link] [comments]
Clear AppleTV library & recreate it? Posted: 06 Jul 2020 02:39 PM PDT Hi, This was possible with iTunes, where you could clear the library & then re-scan to recreate. I have a load of movies I've bought from iTunes & while they appear in the appleTV app, they also appear in the movies section on computers & will not play. I want to move these out of the movies folder (keeping the files elsewhere) , & rescan again to clean up my library. Is this possible to do with the appletv app? [link] [comments]
Will then Next Apple TV likely to have Bitstream again? Posted: 06 Jul 2020 06:25 AM PDT Do you think that a new Apple TV releasing this or next year is having a bitstream audio output option instead of LPCM? [link] [comments]

Adding Custom Shows to the App Posted: 06 Jul 2020 11:23 AM PDT So I downloaded a tv show off the internet on to my MacBook and I'm hoping to watch it on my iPhone too. I added the first episode to my MacBook's Apple TV library, but it isn't showing up in my iPhone's library. The episode is about 1.5gb and about 1.5 hours long. Every other episode is about the same length too and I have about 70 episodes in total. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Netflix isn’t coming out on my Apple TV Posted: 06 Jul 2020 11:04 AM PDT I try deleting the app and resetting my Apple TV and nothing. Before I used to say a movie and if it was available on Netflix, it will show on the search list. Now only movies from iTunes comes out. Does anyone know what happened? [link] [comments]
Can I force my tv to prioritize quality over buffer time? Posted: 06 Jul 2020 10:24 AM PDT I spent $200 on a 4k ATV, almost a thousand on a 4k oled, another thousand in a 5.2 surround sound system, and I have another few hundred tied up in accessories cables and mounting. I pay a hundred a month for gig of fiber. Yet if my tv experiences the slightest buffer it downgrades the streaming quality to less than hd and my rear channels drop out. I have contacted individual app help support and they all say this is the ATV running the show here causing this. Apple support won't acknowledge this. I do not mind waiting a bit for it to load so that I can have full 4k uhd and surround sound. [link] [comments]
Does Spotify not work with Siri on the AppleTV? I don't think this is possible. Posted: 06 Jul 2020 10:18 AM PDT YouTube works, Apple Music works, Netflix works...but for some reason Spotify does not . What am I doing wrong? [link] [comments] |
