Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:49 PM PDT Contemplating buying a new TV. Can't find a "dumb" TV I like because manufacturers really don't offer them anymore, so I'm debating a Smart TV. BUT...I don't wanna give up my AppleTV box - Airplay, the games storage, etc. My mom has a Roku Smart TV (3-4 years old) and a cable box. Because of it, she's gotta use the TV/Roku controller to turn the TV on and off, and "select" cable from the TV desktop to watch TV. I'm not about that life. My "dumb" TV turns on and off using the Apple TV remote (including the iPhone remote apps), and goes direct to the Apple TV desktop when the TV turns on. Does anyone know if there's a Smart TV that offers a similar experience as my dumb TV - whether it detects the Apple TV and goes right to that HDMI channel, or can have the "smart" functions in the TV turned off? Or, if not, what's your experience with a Smart TV and Apple TV - headaches and annoyances; why you're satisfied, etc? Thanks for the help!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:01 AM PDT All I want is a TV App that functions much like the existing TV App, but 1)only shows content from apps and channels I subscribe to. 2)Plus has Netflix integrated. 3)Plus integrates YouTubeTV like Sling is currently integrated. I realize I'm just complaining about the same thing that everyone else complains about, but is there anything out there does the first two well? I know 3 is probably a pipe dream. I thought the TiVo Stream 4K might be a solution, but that seems to have many bugs and short comings as well. [link] [comments] |
Home Sharing wth TV app playlists not showing up? (iPadOS) Posted: 08 Jun 2020 03:47 AM PDT Hello, I was wondering why playlists are not showing up on my iPad. Home Sharing via iMac and Apple TV from "Media' Mac mini playlists show up but all I get is the "Genres" and not playlists on the iPad? Thank you for your time, Shizu. [link] [comments] |
Stuttering Chyrons on Youtube TV Posted: 07 Jun 2020 04:16 PM PDT Has anyone experienced this? Occasionally, when watching cable news with scrolling text at the bottom (Fox, CNN, etc), the text skips every few seconds. It will happen continuously until resolved. One resolution is to exit app, switch to prime (or other video app) then back to youtube tv, then it's fine for a couple of days. Any ideas? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Jun 2020 01:12 AM PDT Can you connect your galaxy buds to your apple tv? I can't find any answer online or in the search bar for this subreddit, so apologies if it's been asked already, I could not find it. [link] [comments] |
Is it not possible to use Siri Shortcuts with the Siri remote/Apple TV? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 12:19 PM PDT Just got a hue play sync and my main goal was to use Siri to switch between inputs, well this works perfectly fine on my iPhone but trying to do these commands from my Apple TV Siri remote, it doesn't work. Can the Siri remote not do Siri Shortcuts? [link] [comments] |

Can I stream free movies on Apple TV Posted: 07 Jun 2020 04:02 PM PDT I have an iPad and have a few free movie streaming apps called popcorn time, i always wonder if there's something I can download on the Apple TV where I can stream free movies to the tv. Any ideas [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:34 AM PDT So I've been thinking about getting an Apple TV recently and one of the biggest questions that I just thought of was, does it act like an accelerated frame rate TV? I don't see these TVs as often but I'm sure you all know but it basically takes video at any frame rate and fills in the gaps to make it appear as though it's 60FPS now my TV does not do that because I'm a semi-broke college boy who bought his TV when it was on mega sale. So I did some googling and couldn't find a solid answer so I was hoping you all could help? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
You can now watch HBO Max directly in TV app Posted: 07 Jun 2020 05:22 PM PDT Not sure if this is new in tvOS 13.5 as I didn't notice that before. Also you can connect Disney+ Hulu PlutoTV (!!!) Curiosity Stream And 55 different apps It looks like Apple Channel finally sees subscription bought in another place (like Curiosity Stream and Sundance Now). Couldn't find Shudder tough. But it means we can watch content inside TV app and have PIP and (almost) everything in one place and tracking what to watch next. So technically now TV could be default view instead of app grid. Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:12 AM PDT ATV 4K, Vizio E70-E3, with a Marantz AVR in between. TV is about four years old, HDMI cables are newish and hi speed. New recent behavior: if I watch video via native apps on the Vizio, the video looks completely fine. Watching anything via the ATV, the picture looked dark and saturated. Settings were for 4K SDR, match frame and content. Wife suggests resetting video settings to default in the ATV, which turns off matching and turns on 4K HDR, and it looks fine. When I turn matching back on and SDR, the video problems return. My first suspicion is the Vizio's HDMI board, given its age. But it could be the ATV, or even a cable, though the ATV HDMI cable test passes. I assume I have a lot of troubleshooting ahead of me, and I welcome any suggestions, even better if anyone has seen this before. [link] [comments] |
