Posted: 06 Jun 2020 11:05 PM PDT Why is it that the MacBook 2009 (White) supports Mac OS Sierra and High Sierra natively while the 2009 13" and 15" do not? Maybe I missed something, but it seems the MacBook Pros would have an advantage in every single spec? [link] [comments]
I thought trackpads on laptops were unconvincing solutions Posted: 06 Jun 2020 02:30 PM PDT Until I finally got a MacBook. WOW, I've been so happy with the fact that I don't need to use a mouse, even on design programs. I never feel like I'm compromising my effectivity with just the trackpad. Not to bash on the surface pro, but man that laptop was way too half-baked to feel like I could really use it as a tool. [link] [comments]
Macbook pro 2020 vs macbook air 2020 Posted: 06 Jun 2020 06:05 PM PDT I do some light to heavy editing in photoshop and indesign. Just want to know if the air can do it or should I just buy the pro? [link] [comments]
panicking a little because of crackling sounds Posted: 06 Jun 2020 04:55 PM PDT mine's a 2018 macbook pro and i noticed this yesterday, it was when i'd use the speakers. i thought it was a speaker issue because i hear the crackling sound only on the left side, but i started hearing it without using the speaker. it sounds like tv static. i've been reading loads of articles about the same but i'd love to hear what you guys have to say im freaking out this is so bizzare. edits: spellings [link] [comments]
Is this a Great idea or terrible idea should I buy a unibody 2012 just to upgrade it? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 08:54 AM PDT Hello, I recently upgraded the RAM and hard drives in my significant others 2012 unibody MacBook Pro. I was shocked to see how much it improved its performance. Personally, I have a 2014 MacBook Air that I've wanted to replace with a newer model for quite some time. After seeing the lackluster reviews and price tag on the 2020 models, and the crazy improvement in performance on my gf's 2020 I wonder if a better option for me is to purchase a used 2012 and investing 200-250$ to upgrade ram and install 2-1tb hard drives. I feel like I stumbled on a genius idea here, but I very well could be wrong and am hoping you all can offer some perspective. About my use, I do not do any heave photo or video editing. I'm fairly privacy minded and would like to have the ability to run virtual machines, something I can't do on my 2014 air. I also am a bit of a data hoarder/torrent freak so storage space is super important to me. I like to run my MacBook in clamshell mode connected to an external monitor so the non-retina display on the 2012 pro wouldn't be an issue. TLDR; is picking up a used 2012 unibody MacBook Pro and upgrading the he'll out of it a good idea?

Best upgrade + Question about Mid 2012 MacBook Pro? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 04:21 PM PDT Hi, I currently have a 500 gig SSD and 8gb of standard corsair ram. What is the best possible ram and storage I can buy for maximum speeds for my Mid 2012 Pro? Also, My touchpad doesn't really work anymore. It buzzes around like crazy and only sometimes can I get it to work but only for a few seconds then it goes crazy again. Like 5 months ago I had wiped the laptop with windex on a cloth (very stupid, I know) and since then I have nothing but problems. Help? [link] [comments]
MacBook pro A1502 SSD upgrade. Posted: 06 Jun 2020 04:11 PM PDT Hello ! I'm looking for a drive upgrade and I was wondering if it's possible to use a Samsung 983DCT m.2 nvme drive with the proper Sintech NGFF asdapter on my MacBook pro retina A1504 ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jun 2020 03:43 PM PDT Hi there, I was wondering is it a good idea to look into building my own egpu? Do they even play nice with such an older device? Or should I just look at saving up for a later model? Edit: it's a mid2010 15-inch with the nvidiea graphics card :/ [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Jun 2020 09:28 AM PDT Hello, I've been using Windows for my whole life and I wanted to try something new. I'm a .NET backend developer, since .NET Core also runs on MacOS, so I thought why not to try it. Sometimes I edit photos using Lightroom and Photoshop. So when it comes to programs that I want to run on my laptop would be for example: Intellij Rider, Visual Studio Code (with node.js for some frontend development), maybe some Docker images. My first thought was that MBP 16" baseline is a bit overkill since I want to try and get into Apple infrastructure (and I'm not doing any video editing or gaming). What are your thoughts about baseline MBP 13" with upgraded RAM to 16GB? Would this struggle with performance? MBP 13": 1.4GHz quad-core 8th‑generation Intel Core i5 processor, 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory, 256GB SSD storage [link] [comments]
iMovie painfully slow MacBook Pro 2020 4Thunderbolt Model Posted: 06 Jun 2020 09:07 AM PDT I just bought a brand new 2020 MacBook Pro 4 thunderbolt model as I do a fair amount of video editing for my gym using iMovie. I have always been using my iPad Pro for this but now (obviously) wanted to use my MBP. Ive gone to export a number of videos and it takes a lifetime - 45 minutes to export a 30minute video with no effects, just an audio track added to a few trimmed clips. This usually takes 10 minutes (to export) on my iPad Pro. When running the export cpu usage is only at 30%, ram at 50%, cpu temp at 69. I was expecting this to max out my computer & take far less time on a $2000 machine - any ideas why this may be? TLDR- brand new MacBook Pro exports iMovie slower than a 2016 iPad Pro [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Jun 2020 10:58 AM PDT Every time I use my MacBook Pro 2019, even when I am just on safari, they keyboard is always hot and the fans go on every once in a while. The battery seems to go down crazy fast too. Is there anything I can do to fix this? [link] [comments]

should I wait for the ARM based Macbook next year? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 10:03 AM PDT I really want to get a Macbook Pro now (2020 version) but I read that Apple will come out with an ARM based Macbook next year. I wonder if that'll make the Intel based machines obsolete quickly? [link] [comments]

Will this monitor’s TB3 work with mbp 15” 2018? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 09:45 AM PDT Does anyone know if this monitor is supported for a 2018 15" Macbook Pro specifically for Thunderbolt 3 video output and charging? I had the original 4k ultrafine from apple at that worked just fine (until the screen broke). Is the MacBook Pro 2015, still worth the purchase? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 08:16 AM PDT I saw an ad in Carousell for a MacBook 13" (Mid2015) - MacOS 10.15 Catalina - i5 - 256SSD - 8GB RAM - purchased 2018, selling for 38K But... - Battery and charger was already replaced (worn-out per owner so he had to replace for new owner's peace of mind) - Left speaker has cracking sound when volume is high, right speaker is perfectly fine If purchased, will be used for online classes, video conferencing and video editing. Is this worth the buy? Will it last for another 3-4 years? THANKS IN ADVANCE! [link] [comments] |
