    Can someone please explain why Apple wants another 18 days to reset my Apple ID password?

    I bought myself a new iPad Pro 11 as I am kind of covid stuck out of country without my Mac and my other iPad. Don't remember the password for Apple ID so naively I did a reset at iforgot.apple.com a few days ago, then it said I would have to wait days for password reset. Then after 3 days, I get this email that it will take another 18 days. I don't have access to my trusted devices or the trusted phone number. But I have provided my credit card details for extra identification.

    18 days to reset

    I have had this AppleID for a decade and have a lot of app purchases and other things so creating a new apple id is not really an option as any new purchases will end up on this new account. I have called Apple Support but they were helpless and hopeless.

    Please can someone explain why Apple wants another 18 days to reset my Apple ID password?

    Ideas on speeding it up are also welcome!

    If I could log in to discussions at apple.com I would have done that.

    How to record video while using garage band effects

    I am a guitar player that uses a scarlet audio interface to record my guitar. I use garage band for effects. I also like to record videos of me playing for later (nothing high quality, just good enough so I can remember what I wrote). The issue I'm having is that when I use garage band I only get the audio. I was wondering if there is some way I can output the garage band directly into a video recording app. I know I can record in both garage band and photo booth at the same time and then sync them up in iMove, but that is a lot of hassle for recording something that I just want to remember how to play the next day.

    Lock button will only do certain functions

    I have an iPhone XR, and just yesterday it started being very weird. My lock button won't work to shut off my screen, but holding it down will activate Siri. I can also take screenshots (lock button/volume up) which makes me think the buttons obviously working but I have no clue why it won't work to lock the damn screen. Also my volume will go up or down on its own randomly without touching the buttons. All this started yesterday. I've updated it, didn't help. I also brick restarted but no help. (Brick restarting was not easy) sometimes, when the screen won't lock I can take a screenshot then it will lock. And sometimes the screenshot function won't work and the phone just vibrates. Does anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?

    New “unlocked” SE shows Verizon

    This is the first time I purchased an unlocked iPhone (Best Buy). I plan on activating it for my mother for Mother's Day on Metro PCS but as I powered it on for the first time to set up iCloud account I see that it shows Verizon as carrier and under settings it also shows Verizon and has a "my Verizon" section. Does this mean that there was a mistake made and I was given a locked Verizon phone or will it be able to be changed by metro PCS?

    edit: I was able to do it. I just turned in iCloud sync on and off on my computer which synced it to my phone

    iPhone 11 Pro Max issues, possibly from old back up?

    Just got the new 11 Pro Max. I restored an old back up on an iphone 7 i used cause i dropped my Iphone X into a lake last year and i didn't have it covered. it (the 7) was my dads old phone and had issues off the bat. Ghost touch, poor battery life, and two issues that i'm still experiencing now. fast forward 6+ months i finally got a chance to get a new phone.

    I restored a back up from the 7 i had. ghost touch isn't an issue anymore, neither is the battery obviously.

    but when i receive texts sometimes the text tone will come through with a bunch of static sound and repeat itself a couple times like it's glitched. my text tone is "synth" incase that might have anything to do with it.

    the second issue i've experienced is my app or even home screen will slide down about halfway and leave nothing above it, just blank. no menu, not an option. just gotta swipe the screen back up into place and it's back to normal. and it's not when i'm swiping for the control or notification center either.

    is it possible these glitches/bugs transferred with the iphone 7 back up? any other explanations or remedies or similar experiences welcomed. thanks!!

    Came across a Thunderbolt Display and it works flawlessly. (Ignore the minor corner shatter and missing front panel. Is there anyway I can reliably fill in the cracks on the LCD panel or should I just live with it to prevent further damage?

    iPhone 5's photos are not uploading to iCloud

    Hi everyone!

    A few days ago on my old iPhone 5 (version 10.3.3), I connected to iCloud and tried to upload all of my photos/videos (settings shown here: https://imgur.com/a/AurKdcK). The phone only uploaded 20 items before it completely stopped.

    I've tried:

    • Turning off iCloud Photo Library and turning it on again;
    • Turning off iCloud Photo Sharing and turning it on again;
    • Closing settings & photos and opening the apps again;
    • Reconnecting to the internet;
    • Restarting the phone.

    My iCloud has 50GB of storage and only 7.1GB is used, so there is plenty of space for the photos/videos. If anyone could offer any assistance and help explain why my items are not uploading, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Problem with importing videos onto mac from iphone XR

    Hello ! I'm needing advice on how to fix a problem with my new iphone XR. I've been vlogging and making YouTube videos using iMovie and for my recent video I recorded a bunch of clips with my phone, but whenever I try to import the new clips from the photos location on my mac it says some type of error. Even if I try to watch it on quicktime it says, "the file isn't compatible with quick time player." Previous to this I had no problem uploading one clip onto iMovie. A couple weeks ago I was able to import videos from my Iphone XR, but it seems like the quality might be too high to be able to be imported to my mac. Any help will do, thank you!!

    External Hard Drive Failed During Transfer

    I bought a SATA to USB cable with an additional 12V power adapter to power and mount a 2008 WD 1TB spinning plate external hard drive.

    Earlier today when transferring files to a backup drive, it failed and both drives (old and new) failed to mount. They eventually came back and I was able to mount the drives.

    The newer drive came back fine with no damage to folders or files. The old drive came back and now folders are showing as ".execs" with no file extensions. When I use the Disk Utility tool, the drive appears to have no data or storage ie: it is appearing empty.

    Is this drive toast, or is there a shard of hope somewhere?

    I should also mention that I am running a 27" Mac 2015 to do this transfer.

    Apple still hasn't charged my card.

    Excuse my naivety. It's the first time I own a card and make purchases online.

    I bought some AirPods and an iPhone. The AirPods have been debited, but not the iPhone. I assume this will happen once it gets ready to ship or something? It was just slightly weird, should I give them a call? Thank you.

    Storage issue! I have 250GB soace tifal. About 230GB if that is taken up by the operating system. My MAC is saying it has no space in the volume “MacintoshHD” but whenever I try to remove things it says it can’t cause I have no storage... ��

    I opened up my MacAir 2018 and now looks like this. The display behind the purple bars seems to be working but it’s barely visible. I contacted Apple and they said I should mail it in/bring it to an “Apple authorized service provider.” Anyone have any advice/similar experience?

    Hello!

    I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit - if not, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I want to download a video off of a website (I want to have a copy of Daniel Radcliffe reading the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone). I tried to screen record it via command + shift + 5, as well as through QuickTime screen record - both recorded the video but sadly without audio.

    I tried to look at the website's page source and inspect, but came up with zero links to any form of .mp4 recordings.

    I also tried to hit the network tab under inspect, hit the clear button, played the video, and again zero .mp4 data.

    If anyone has any idea - ANY IDEA AT ALL - please please let me know. I would love to have a copy of this video.

    Quick edit: I've tried to use both chrome and safari browsers to download and came up empty!
