How do you think you’ll use the iPad with the Magic Keyboard Posted: 05 Apr 2020 04:04 AM PDT The Magic Keyboard looks amazing, can't wait. But I do wonder... I currently use my iPad in different ways - on a table using a pen, on a table and with a kickstand using a pen or watching multimedia etc. Which may not work well with the new Magic Keyboard, the back of the iPad needs to be free of a case/protector for the magnets to work and the iPad may be awkward when flat on a table due to the camera bump / may be susceptible to damage (perceived). It's likely I'll lose the benefit of a kickstand for use of a pen when on an angle etc. Is the Magic Keyboard only for those that want to use their iPad as a laptop? Will people rotate cases based on use cases? Keen to hear people's thoughts [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Apr 2020 01:34 PM PDT I'd love to use an actual grip but I really don't want to have to keep up with it when storing the Apple Pencil. [link] [comments]
Imagine an iPad mini with minimal bezels and same aspect ratio as iPad Pro Posted: 04 Apr 2020 11:46 PM PDT Hoy shit that would be awesome, I'd totally buy it and I never ever bought an apple device for myself. I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon tho, I have thought about getting the iPad mini 5 but I am not a fan of the bezels and the 4:3 aspect ratio, I'm typing this from an iPad 3 btw. Is the iPad Mini 5 a good product to buy now? Posted: 05 Apr 2020 05:24 AM PDT I bought the first iPad in 2010, I used it for a couple of years and I loved it. 2 years ago I graduated and I started my new job in a Law firm. Working as a barrister with iPad only was impossible to me so I bought a laptop I'm still in love with: the matebook x pro. The new iPad Pro line is awesome, I tried to use one for a couple of weeks but doing my job there was too hard. I work with tons of documents and I need to read multiple pdf while I work and I write on Word. Also on the app store there isn't an app we use in Italy to do the trials without going to the court, so I sent it back to Amazon. I'm now looking for a device to use when I don't wanna use the laptop or to read my notes before the trial discussion and I'm wondering if buying now an iPad mini would be a good idea. iPadOS really needs three-finger drag on the trackpad. Posted: 05 Apr 2020 05:45 AM PDT This was such an intuitive way to select or move stuff in MacOS, sorely missing it in the iPad's trackpad implementation. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Apr 2020 10:42 AM PDT The iPad has a full fledge cursor now. It has a secondary click for contextual menu like a Mac, can contextual transform like a Mac and go beyond that, and has some abilities similar to a Mac cursor. The iPad just uses a circle over an arrow, snaps to buttons, and uses more animations. iPad and Mac cursors disappears too, but iPad uses a timer. Other than that, they're not much different. So with all that, does iPadOS seem more like a Mac to you? Or does it seem like an iPad with a cursor? Have you tried it for yourself? Has your opinion changed? Are you going to use it now? Are you getting the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro? Does/will it change your interaction with the iPad? Why were you against it? How did it change your mind? [link] [comments]

Modified old Logitech Type+ keyboard case for my 10.5 Pro Posted: 05 Apr 2020 10:03 AM PDT I use the Apple Smart Cover because I want the thinnest/lightest stand, but I also want an occasional keyboard. I have an old Logitech Type+ keyboard case for the Air 2 that has a great keyboard with iOS specific buttons. It just so happens it's the exact same width. I set the iPad on the keyboard and the case's magnets hold the iPad in place! The only challenge is turning on the keyboard: it uses the iPad's built in magnets to auto turn on and off. When using the Smart Cover, the magnets are in use. Through some experimenting I found one of the spots on the case that acts as a magnetic switch. I am using a small magnet for now to turn it on. I just position it above the volume down button and it works. I also cut off the top of the case so it's just a keyboard. It works on me lap and of course on a desk. I gotta find a better solution got the magnet but I'm happy. Oh and it can be used detached as well with the tiny magnet. Here's a pic https://imgur.com/a/9LPQ8dU/ [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Apr 2020 08:18 AM PDT been eyeing an ipad pro for some time now, and w the new release, i think it's time to bite. i primarily do some weird abstract linework illustration, but i'm wanting to expand my illustration skills. i think the ipad pro is a great tool to help me along and increase versatility (also will be replacing my laptop), but i'm still not sure on what resources to utilise. without question, i will be getting procreate. i've fiddled w it before when i used to work for apple, and i have a friend willing to teach me the program further. so that part isn't a worry. so, my question is: what are some resources you recommend for improving illustration knowledge and skill? whether they be on an app or not, i'll take any suggestions! TIA [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Apr 2020 12:09 AM PDT Hi guys, hope you are all safe during the current pandemic! What I thought was a regular Sunday morning turned into a small nightmare when I noticed my 2018 iPad Pro being randomly stuck on Apple Logo boot screen. It was a bit weird as I have not installed any new apps, updates nor custom profiles but alright. I've tried to force restart the device however it did not respond at all. Next, DFU mode – again, no response from the device at all and it's still stuck on Apple Logo and does not show in Finder (I'm on Catalina). That was the moment I realized that in the area of user maintainability, there is still a wide gap between macOS and iPadOS/iOS where this would be probably fixable on macOS for any a bit more advanced user. With iPadOS and the iPad Pro, I'm basically screwed and can't do anything until guys at Apple (or its service partners) have a look at it. If this was my primarily machine, this would be highly problematic. What do you guys think? Do you think Apple should allow users more access in these situations like with macOS? [link] [comments] |
