Wondering if there any difference in buying a separate Apple TV as a TV and just buying a Samsung TV with Apple TV built-in. Is there any difference? Will it be the same experience if I'll buy a TV with Apple TV built-in? Maybe a noob question, sorry for that. I'm about to buy a TV soon and want to make the right choice. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 19 Apr 2020 09:44 PM PDT I only really have one problem with AppleTV and it's the lack of playlists or sorting for purchased movies. You can sort by Genre or Movies/TV shows but you can't sort by Year or carry over smart playlists from the MacOS version of the TV app. As someone with a decent sized collection of films (>100) I like organising them by their "universes" and that in turn organises them chronologically. | What’s up with the audio levels between movies? Posted: 19 Apr 2020 01:14 PM PDT I just "bought" (I prefer physical disc TBH) the trilogy of the "Caesar" movies of the rebooted Planet of The Apes off iTunes for $30. My Pioneer receiver was set to -20dB for the first movie, "Rise Of..." and the base made the walls shake (it's a feature!) but ar the same volume setting, "Rise Of..." almost has no noise at all, and I needed to increase it to -8.5dB for similar sound levels. Is this an iTunes / AppleTV issue or a production / 20th Century Fox issue? [link] [comments]  |
| Intermittent "No Network Detected" on ethernet connection Posted: 19 Apr 2020 10:46 AM PDT I've been having problems with AirPlay audio dropouts with my Apple TV 4K on Wifi. Since it shares a cabinet with a late model Mac Mini, I am experimenting with attaching the aTV to the Mini via ethernet, using the "Internet Sharing" service on the mini. This greatly cuts down on the drop outs. The problem is I now get periodic "No Network Detected" warnings on the aTV. The weirdest is when I try to touch the aTV from the network (e.g. Airplay from the directly attached Mini), the message pops up on the aTV. The same thing happens when I try to watch a show. In both cases, if I retry a few times it eventually works fine. Once I have a show or music playing, it's solid. I suspect something weird is going on in the "Internet Sharing" service on the mini. Has anyone else seen this or have thoughts on how to fix it? Maybe a DHCP issue? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 19 Apr 2020 01:49 PM PDT So I got my ATV a couple of weeks ago with the only real purpose to use it with Plex. My TV app was fine, aside from 4k remux streams as it only had a 100 mb/s ethernet and some of those files can max out much higher than that. So, the gigabit ethernet on the ATV4k seemed ideal. Been messing with it for two weeks and the Plex app just doesn't seem to work properly. I get transcoder errors even though all Video settings are to Maximum, subtitles are off and I'm playing the proper audio stream for direct play. Infuse works perfectly, but I hate the UI! Am I missing a setting somewhere? Anyone have any insight as to how I can get a better experience? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 19 Apr 2020 09:52 AM PDT I'm in the process of expanding my back patio and adding a pergola (who knows when with this shelter in place). What I want to have is a TV mounted to watch sports, but better speakers than the TV. I'm a cord cutter, using AppleTVs in all other rooms of the house (but all just using TV speakers). I figure it's easy to mount the TV with an AppleTV either mounted under or behind it and I'm good for watching. But what about speakers? What are my best options for outdoor speakers to give better TV sound and then play music when there aren't games on? [link] [comments]  |

| How do you handle kids access? Posted: 19 Apr 2020 09:12 AM PDT I'm curious how you handle kids access to you Apple TV? We have used nothing but AppleTV for at least four years. Except for a Nintendo Switch, the Apple TV is the only thing connected to our TV. We don't use the "smart" tv features included in the TV. Our kid is now 8 years old, loves Minecraft and watches minecraft videos on YouTube. He also watches Netflix on his own account. I know Apple have implemented multiuser setup, but afaik basically only Apple themselves support it? Currently we run everything on the same account. The kid have no issue switching to his own account on Netflix and YouTube. Yes, he have his own YouTube account. YouTube kids don't exist on Apple TV for some wierd reason but I don't actually know if the minecraft gamers he watches are available there either... How do you handle it? [link] [comments]  |
