- I’m sure that this has been brought up before, but when is Apple going to introduce a TV mountable webcam to do FaceTime on AppleTV? Seems like this is needed more than ever in these “uncertain times”.

| Motion smoothing on all of a sudden? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 09:09 PM PDT I've got the AppleTV from before the 4K one. I'm not sure which version that is. Anyway, I've had my AppleTV and current television for quite some time with no changes to their settings. All of a sudden today, it seems like motion smoothing is on. You know the effect - soap opera-esque. It's awful. It happens when playing content from Netflix, Plex or HBO. I've checked my TV settings and they are correct with all that motion smoothing etc off. I checked the AppleTV video settings and I've tried both "match frame rate" and off. That's pretty much the only adjustment I could make there. I reset the AppleTV video settings and still no luck. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on? I am at a loss. I'm 100% sure the TV isn't the issue since I went through its settings with a fine-toothed comb. Any help would be appreciated. | HomePods no longer showing when Apple TV has wired connection. Posted: 28 Apr 2020 12:56 PM PDT This used to work before for a good year. But I just bought an Orbi for making a Mesh network. The Wifi SSID is the same as my previous Router, and the Apple TV was connected with a wired connection. My HomePods always showed up as an Audio out option. Now, with the Orbi, same SSID, only when my Apple TV is connected wireless do the HomePods show up as an option. When I wire it (same network) the HomePods don't show up. Anybody have any suggestions on how I can get the HomePods to appear when I have my Apple TV with a wired connection? [link] [comments]  | ||
| n00b Question About ATV and Cable Posted: 28 Apr 2020 03:48 PM PDT Hey all. Just got an AppleTV to replace a dying Roku. It works just fine. But one of the reasons I went with a AppleTV was to have more access to more seasons of shows that I want to watch. I do not have a cable TV subscription, just Xfinity internet. Looks like a lot of the apps I want to use require a cable TV subscription to use, which is quite annoying to learn, but is my fault for not knowing that ahead of time. ...Is that the only way to get the most out of this? I would have expected at least some of the apps, like the Travel Channel app for example, to be able to be purchased up front, similar to how apps on your phones work. But it looks like that's not the case, unfortunately... Are there recommended workarounds that I'm not aware of? Thank you! [link] [comments]  | ||
| Apple TV on macbook air flickering black Posted: 28 Apr 2020 12:02 PM PDT Hey guys, Just got the new macbook air 4 days ago, started watching the morning show on apple tv and noticed that every 10-30 seconds or so the screen goes black for a fraction of a second. Then somewhere in the middle of an episode, the picture froze, the sound kept going for about 10 seconds and then the video was played very quickly till the point where it got back to normal. There's no problems with any other video services such as youtube/netflix. What can I do to make this stop? Reboot and app restart did not help. [link] [comments]  | ||

I've started to buy movies on the iTunes Store since getting my 4K & replacing movies I'd obtained elsewhere (which I previously would have bought on dvd & Blu-ray). I generally buy on special obtaining through CheapCharts, however I've noticed some of the US offers are far better in terms of cost & range. Can I buy from the US store (using Revolut) and have the movies in my library and play on my ATV4k without having to switch stores every time I want to watch something? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Salvage original first gen apple tv (silver) Posted: 28 Apr 2020 06:59 AM PDT I have an original ATV that sadly won't boot. It powers up, shows the Apple logo, then just a black screen while the status light flashes amber. Eventually it reboots and does the same thing. It will respond to the remote (holding down menu and down arrow will force a restart), and it shows up on my lan when connected with a network cable (I can ping it successfully). Any ideas to troubleshoot? I'm planning to pull the hard drive to see if I can connect it to my laptop. Not sure if there is anything else to try. [link] [comments]  |
