Why did they have to remove peek and pop?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 03:26 AM PDT

Yeah yeah, I know that 3D touch is more or less dead, but I still love it on my iPhone 6s. But with the recent updates nearly all the 3D touch features got replaced by haptic touch.

I understand that this is done to enable the features on the newer phones, and I don't really care in places like the home screen where I can still be a bit faster by using 3D touch. But now the peek and pop feature got "removed" from WhatsApp, Mail, etc... If I know want to see the preview and then open it I can no longer press a bit and then just press harder, I now need to hold, remove the finder and tap again.

It still works in Instagram, but please apple give us the possibility to use a great feature we (with older devices) have.
I think they could just add a new toggle where you can say if you want to use 3D or haptic touch...

We have locked and hidden notes, why won’t Apple add photo albums with locks that apps with photo permissions can’t access. Third party apps for this is just bad.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 04:32 PM PDT

You could create an album and then choose to FaceID/password lock the folder and every photo added to the album would disappear from other albums including all photos and the normal photo stream and only appear there. Apps with photo permissions wouldn't have access to photos in this folder either

[iOS 13] Disable 3d touch in favor of haptic touch will save battery?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 08:12 AM PDT

I have an iPhone X which has exactly 1 year and a half, with 87% of its battery capacity now.

I was thinking about if iPhone XR, 11, 11 Pro and SE 2 don't have 3d touch and one of the most important things about removing it in a hardware level, was to save battery (and production costs)

So... can we save some battery by triggering 3d touch off in 'Settings > Accessibility' in favor of haptic touch which doesn't use any sensors? Or will it be disabled by software but the 3d touch digitizer will remain active?

I'll probably test it, what you think?

    Are subscription returns a thing?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:50 AM PDT

Alright, I hate the state of the App Store right now, specifically the apps section (not so much the games). Everything is "free" with a subscription. Like what the heck. Like who actually spends the time and energy to keep track of 20 different subscriptions, not to mention how much more expensive subscriptions are in the long run. I just want to pay a flat cost, and use the app. If app devs want to give people a trial, make the flat cost an in-app purchase, that's fine. But the whole monthly, yearly crap. Ugh. Anyways that's a rant.

My question is, say I sign up for a subscription but within a day I'm like nahh. Can I get a refund for it? I know you can refund apps but idk about subscriptions. Does anyone know how that works??

Heavy google user considering an SE2

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:37 AM PDT

I am currently an android user since release, my only apple experience is a 1st gen iPod touch maybe 10 years ago. However the SE2 reveal, is basically my ideal phone with the exception of running ios.

I use nearly everything google (gmail, chrome, music, keep/notes, contacts, maps, multiple google homes in my house, you get the idea if google make it I probably use it), with this level of integration into one system how well do you think I'd get on with ios?

I don't want to stop using my google account/apps but would want a way to use these features in ios.

App Switcher opens when 3D touching the corner of my screen on iPhone 7

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:02 AM PDT

App switcher opens with 3D Touch on iPhone 7

On my iPhone 7 (iOS 13.4.1), I 3D touched on the display, on the left hand side between the two volume buttons, and the phone made a vibration like it usually does when 3D touching, and the app switcher opened.

It seemed to work somewhat similarly to the iPhone X gesture system's app switcher, letting me quickly switch to other apps I had open, but only on the left hand side of the display. It doesn't work on the right. Is this happening for other people on iOS 11 or 12, and on other iPhones? Really curious about this.

iCloud vs Google Drive (Playing media)

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:42 AM PDT

So i've used Google Drive forever and now i'm trying iCloud. A big difference i'm noticing is that when i go to Google Drive the site i can just stream any of my movies, no loading or downloading. With iCloud i have to first download it.

Is this a main difference between the two or am i just not using iCloud right ?

    Thank you.

Is there a camera app that will immediately save photos to a network share?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:28 AM PDT

I know about iCloud photo stream and that's not quite what I'm after.

I need an app that will immediately save photos to a network share over wifi. Anyone know if this exists?

I'm sure some form of this question has been asked multiple times, but how long does 164 full resolution photos take to download?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:23 PM PDT

I am downloading 164 full resolution photos from iCloud to an iPhone, only 3 are HDR, and only 2 are live. The photos originated on an iPhone 6s plus. I started it yesterday and according to the photos app the transfer can still be paused. I don't know if there's a way to see how many have completed the transfer or how much time is remaining. The phone has been on fast wifi the entire time, and plugged in much of it. I have over 12 gigabytes free. It only took a few minutes to download them onto the computer from iCloud. How long will it take and why is it taking so long?

Just bought my first iPhone ever

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 06:11 PM PDT

I just switched over to Simple Mobile and bought an iPhone 6s Plus. I have several MP3 files i'd like to transfer from my home computer to the iPhone. I've "googled" around but I'm still at a loss on how to get this done. The only cable is the one that came with the phone which I think is a lightening to USB cable. As a newbie, I'd appreciation some suggestions for this.

I've got the phone updated to the latest available at iOS 13.4.1

    Win7 x64 Pro ---> iPhone.

Copying and pasting from iPhone to PC

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:24 PM PDT

Hi guys, I've just spent a few hours trying to figure out if there's anyway to enable some sort of Universal Clipboard between my PC and iPhone. It seems like Microsoft said they were developing a solution to work on swiftkey, but never completed it. I've read about pushbullet, but they got rid of their IOS app.

Can anyone help? It's super frustrating for me coming from a Mac, because now I can't work between my phone and computer easily.

    Thanks!
