I got an iPad 10.2 inch for christmas and have been having so much fun doing extracurricular studying between semesters! Can’t wait to use this at school!

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 12:26 PM PST

My iPad is showing this after being left alone on my couch, in its closed case, for 24 hours. Any easy way to fix this myself?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 12:10 PM PST

Away from home for the holidays..except not really. Merry Christmas everyone!

Any ideas how to reduce the size of the Files app. I've already deleted the useless files that are in the app.

    Suggestions for cases/keyboards?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 01:39 PM PST

Just got an iPad 7th generation and I'm looking for a case to put on it and potentially a keyboard.

I like the Apple one but it's a little too expensive.

What are your experiences using the photoshop app?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 01:07 PM PST

I just got an iPad Pro, and I would love to be able to download the photoshop app and make/edit gifs using it. I've heard less than stellar reviews about the photoshop app but have never used it myself, so I'm wondering about its functionality. Is it feasible to do slightly more in-depth editing with it, eg various layers for modifying colors or deleting frames? Any input is appreciated!

Is there a way to resize a pic for wallpaper so that it fits properly no matter which way I hold the iPad?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 09:17 AM PST

Hi, new iPad owner here. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm not used to having devices where rotating wallpaper was a concern.

I've got a handful of images that look great in vertical orientation (most of them have been scaled for my iPhone in the past), but get cutoff (usually losing heads in the process) if I turn the iPad sideways.

Is there any way I can scale the image so that it fits perfectly in both portrait and landscape orientation?

    Uses for older iPad?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 12:39 PM PST

So I got an iPad Pro 3rd gen this Christmas, replacing an old Air 2. I was planning on just selling the older iPad, but first wanted to ask if there's any specific useful use for it.

How to stop safari from popping up over other apps while swiping right to left. For example; it’s beyond irritation that each time I’m using my right hand onto either turn a page in the kindle app and I end up with a 1/3 safari page overlapping my other apps. Is it a way to turn this off?

    Ipad 7th gen battery

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 11:29 AM PST

Sorry if this has been asked before. I can't find if the basic ipad 7th gen gets any benefit from 30w chargers (or more). Did anyone try any charger that provides more power than the one in the box? Does it benefit from a fast charger? How long does it take to get a 100% charge?

    Thanks in advance.

Why Hasn't Anyone Made a Keyboard Case With Magnets?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 09:14 AM PST

About me: I've got a 10.5" iPad Pro. Thinking about upsizing to the 12.9" sometime next year. I currently use my iPad for mostly simple things (web browsing, book reading, movie watching), with some "pro things" taking up the remainder of the time (editing raw photos in Affinity, music production in Garageband). My workflow will likely change significantly when I start med school next year and start taking prolific notes again for the first time in several years.

Anyway, I've got a Brydge Keyboard that I hardly use--and here's the reason why: No, it's not because of the missed keystrokes, though that sometimes is annoying. No, it's not the pressure exerted by the little tabs that hold the weight of the iPad. It's because it's such a goddamn pain to get the iPad and out of the keyboard. They beauty of the iPad smart case--in the midst of its limitations as an actual keyboard--is the simplicity of going from laptop-style typing to tablet-style holding. Just fold the case, pick up the iPad, and you're good to go. The downsides, though, are significant: fixed angles to type at, and a (in the opinions of many) a less-than-ideal typing experience.

It's depressingly clear that both styles of keyboard have severe limitations--either limit the versatility of the iPad to give a more laptop-like experience, or hamper the keyboard to ease the transition from tablet to pseudo-laptop. So, why in the world hasn't anyone made a keyboard case that combines the pluses of both? All we need is a keyboard with a laptop style hinge, a-la Brydge, that doesn't make it so hard to take the iPad out anytime typing isn't a priority (reading, drawing, etc.). Luckily, Apple already got us 90% of the way there with the strong magnets in the back of the new iPad Pros. They're strong enough to hold the iPad in just about any orientation (including mounted on a fridge...look it up), but since they're magnets, they're easy enough to pry a case from the back of the iPad any time you want.

So here's my though, for anyone who cares: make a Brydge-style keyboard with a laptop-style hinge, but instead of tabs that grab the iPad like rubber vice-grips, attach the iPad to a Smart-Keyboard-like full back support using magnets. Make it out of a metal plate so that the support is stiff enough to support the iPad in any position. I don't care if it adds a couple millimeters of thickness--it's still way, way thinner than the laptop I would otherwise be carrying. Now, not only does this remove the pressure placed on the corners of the screen by the current Brydge by spreading the support out over the entire rear area of the iPad's, but it makes the device much easier to remove from the keyboard, since there's no more sliding in and out of sticky rubber claws.

This was just a shower thought this morning, so it's not meant to be a market ready idea, but if anyone wants to chime in with critiques, I'd love to have an impromptu engineering brainstorm with reddit. What do you all think?

Internal storage for iPad 7th gen

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 02:01 PM PST

For you users of ipad 32gb, how much free space do you have? Did you have problems for installing many apps? I'm trying to decide if the 100 extra euro are worth to pay for the 128gb one. I have in mind the air as well, is there any feature of the iPad 2019 that makes you regret the decision to go for it instead of a bigger and more expensive one? Thanks in advance!

Elderly friendly card games for the iPad?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 07:40 AM PST

Bought my parents an iPad and looking for (preferably free) card games - solitaire, freecel, spirder - which will have a UX that's friendly for their age. This means, no distracting popups, no ads every other game they don't know how to close, no need to register, upgrade, collect coins, share results, etc. etc. Just a plain, simple, minimalistic, card game.

Can anyone recommend apps from experience?

    Thanks!

Easiest way to transfer pictures from my OnePlus phone to my iPad

2018 iPad Pro gaming on external monitor at 4K, 30Hz vs 60 Hz

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 09:46 AM PST

    Hi,

Looking for feedback from anyone that uses the 2018 iPad Pro to play games on an external 4K monitor. My options are:

    1. Apple USB-C multiport adapter, which allows to charge the iPad Pro and output HDMI 4k @ 60Hz
    2. 3rd party USB-C to HDMI 2.0 adapters or cables that support 4K @ 60 Hz, but no options for pass-through charging
    3. 3rd party USB-C hub that allow charging but, to my knownledge, none of them appear to support HDMI 4K @ 60 Hz

Wondering if anyone knows of other options. f not, does anyone have experience gaming with the iPad Pro on an external monitor at 30Hz vs 60Hz? Can you tell me if 60 Hz is significantly better?

    Thanks!

Will iPad OS kill my 2014 iPad?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 01:30 PM PST

Hello, I currently have an iPad Air 2 from late 2014. It is currently running 11.4.1. I want to update my iPad to the latest version of iPadOS so I can pair my AirPod pros with it. Will updating this iPad to the current iPadOS make my iPad run significantly slower? Is it a bad idea to update?

    Thanks in advance

(iPad Pro 12.9 2018) Will the smart keyboard folio case still close properly if I put on a screen protector?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2019 12:22 PM PST

    Hi r/ipad,

I have a 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 with a Smart Keyboard Folio, and I want to put a screen protector on it to prevent cracks and other things like that, but I have a question. If I put on the protector, will the case still lock the iPad when it touches it?

    Thanks in advance!
