| Mac Mail Opening in Splitscreen While Watching Fullscreen Video Posted: 26 Dec 2019 03:09 PM PST Often when I am watching videos in full screen on my Macbook pro, the mail app will open up in splitscreen out of nowhere. This happens when watching Youtube, Netflix, or anything else in fullscreen. When it happens there is a message under the toolbar in the Mail app that says login failed, with an exclamation mark inside of a triangle. I have two email accounts linked to Mac Mail, but both are logged in successfully. I have researched this quite a bit and many people suggest unchecking the box in Mail preferences that says "prefer opening messages in split view when in full screen," but this is already unchecked for me and it still happens. I use Chrome but the problem also happens in Safari. The issue has happened on and off for as long as I've owned the laptop (2015). | Credit card info and passwords showing up on devices not owned by me. Posted: 26 Dec 2019 07:38 PM PST My girlfriend and I have separate Apple accounts. We have shared a family iCloud account. Today she tried to buy something online, and it tried to autofill my credit card information. I removed her from our shared iCloud storage and family share, deleted her keychain and made sure my card wasn't anywhere on her wallet or payments. Restarted the phone, etc. All the normal steps. All my passwords got synced with hers too. I can still continue to autofill on her safari and potentially buy things with my credit card on her iPhone. I manually deleted all my passwords off her phone, but literally cannot get my credit card information off her phone. This a serious issue, and 2 hours with a senior support member did nothing. Everyone keep an eye out, because this seems like a serious glitch. [link] [comments]  |

| Converting .docx to .pages messes up formatting Posted: 26 Dec 2019 10:08 PM PST Converted .docx file to .pages messes up formatting I'm using the latest versions of MS Word and Pages on Catalina on a 2017 MBP. I would like to reduce my costs and stop using MS Office in favor of the Apple suite. My company only works in .docx, so the file conversion from .docx to pages and vice versa would have to be reliable. However after some experimenting, I found that converting .docx to Pages (a doc with photos text wrap, section breaks, etc.) for editing really messes up the formatting, requiring time to reformat. Is there a way to make the conversion more reliable or is it just unrealistic to use Pages like this? Thanks! [link] [comments]  |

I already had a person in mind, so chose "Custom" and slected who I wanted it to go to. After it downloaded, instead of saying "Purchased" or something, it says "$1.29" again. So, my question is, do you get billed or something everytime you assign it to somebody? Can I not redownload it without buying again if I somehow delete it? Thank you for reading/answering! | I have problems with text to speech after updating to 12.4.4 Posted: 26 Dec 2019 09:55 PM PST I've been using text to speech to read Chinese text for a long time now and I accidentally updated my iPhone 6 Plus to 12.4.4 and now whenever it reads a question mark(？) especially Chinese questions mark which have a space after the mark. The text to speech will read ？as "ah ah ah ah ah" then skip a bunch of texts. This happens when using the ting- ting voice option. Ting ting is my perfect voice because it's pitch isn't crazy high and I can listen to it for a long period of time. I tried doing pronunciation but can't get it to work. I have plugged it into my laptop for the first time and entered iPhone Recovery Mode. My MBA, running macOS Catalina, shows "Your Mac is downloading a software update for your iPhone and will install it when the download is complete". It sits like that for around 15 minutes then the message disappears and the iPhone reverts back to "iPhone is disabled. Connect to iTunes". What am I doing wrong? [link] [comments]  |

| Trying to backup apps that are no longer in App Store? Posted: 26 Dec 2019 09:46 PM PST Hey all, I recently upgraded my wife's iPhone 6S from iOS 10 to iOS 13 and bricked her phone, it got stuck in a boot loop. Brought the iPhone to a memory recovery store and luckily they were able to back up the important stuff such as her photos and I can actually unlock the device to use it lightly however it is still unstable and there is no sound. Was told the next step is to do a full factory reset. The phone is back in my possession to verify the photos were backed up correctly however before I bring it back I was hoping to back up a bunch of apps that are no longer in the App Store. Are there any resources or programs to assist with this? After this debacle was also contemplating paying for iCloud storage... from what I read app data will be saved to the cloud so my wife's game saves will be there but not the actual apps so even if I buy the iCloud space, after a factory reset and trying to restore from iCloud backup any of her old apps that are no longer in the App Store would be gone. Any help would be much appreciated, my wife almost killed me over this whole ordeal and I'm trying to make it better! [link] [comments]  |

I use the search bar all the time. The stupid "Suggested Searches" dropdown that was added to the Notes app in Catalina is obnoxious. Why in the heck would anybody need suggestions for what to search for? That makes no sense. If the point of "Suggested Searches" is to teach people more ways to search within Notes, put it in the help menu, where it belongs, or hide it behind a right click (for more options). I set everything up manually and now I connected it to my computer because all I want to do is sync the music on iTunes on my computer to my phone, but every time I plug in my phone it only gives me the option to set it up as a new phone or restore from a previous backup. Long story short she wants to reset the phone to factory mode. So the first thing I pressed was "reset all settings" I thought u had to go down the line. | Recovering files from an iMac before reformatting/reinstalling OSX Posted: 26 Dec 2019 06:30 PM PST My aunt's 2018 iMac (27" with Fusion Drive) would not start over Christmas - bootlooping a few cycles first and then to the crossed circle icon indicating no startup disk found - so the game plan right now is to Erase the drive and re-install OSX. The problem however, is getting her files off the iMac first. Early on in her use of this machine, she apparently disconnected and decided to repurpose the Time Machine drive we gave her for something else so there are no backups. I can get into Target Disk Mode to copy everything over via my personal MBP, but all the important folders - Pictures, Documents, etc. - will not copy because of permissions and I have been trying to figure out how to get around this. I have her system user name and password but can't figure out where I can input this to unlock everything. Nothing I do in the Sharing and Permissions section of each of the folders seems to be effective. Any suggestions here? My brain is fried so any ELI5 instructions to go along with it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]  |
| IPad Pro 10.5 Touch ID not even attempting to recognize my finger Posted: 26 Dec 2019 09:33 AM PST Still in iOS 12 because I don't really care about iPad os 13. So if that's not the problem then not sure what it could be. To put in detail. Out of no where, my iPad Pro Touch ID sensor stopped working in entirety. Rebooting did nothing. It doesn't keep saying "not recognized " or anything, it just acts as there is no Touch ID at all. This happened once before a few weeks ago and a reboot did solve it but now nothing will work. Not even trying to set it up again. If iPad os will fix it then fine I'll update but I don't feeling like dealing with the poor battery life. [link] [comments]  |

I would like to have this phone for at least four years (so I probably will stop iOS updates after like two years). Which is the better buy? I have no clue what to do and I'm really scared because it's brand new. I'm pretty sure it's from 2018-19, it's not the newer MacBook with a Touch ID. Any suggestions?
