Have you ever experienced Mail app pops up randomly? Posted: 24 Nov 2019 12:41 AM PST On Mojave, Mail app pops up randomly but minimizing the window solved the problem. But on Catalina, It pops up randomly even I minimizing the window. 😂😂 Is there anyone had the same problem? [link] [comments]
Calendar buggy with custom repeat? Posted: 24 Nov 2019 01:37 AM PST Hi, Anyone else has the same problem with Catalina? I've started seeing that some events are missing from calendar, even if they're there on iOS. After some check, I found out a strange bug: - Create a calendar event (name it whatever) - Check "Repeat" and selection "Custom" - Select "Monthly", then anything like "Every Last/First Xday" - Try to save the event now gets a weird error Calling Apple, the engineers said they can't reproduce the error. Recently got a MacBook Pro. Should I be using Mac Notes and not Microsoft OneNote or Evernote Posted: 23 Nov 2019 06:14 AM PST I have a MacBook Pro and an iPhone. I would like to use the native apps like Notes and Reminders. However it seems like Microsoft OneNote and Evernote is way ahead on creating a platform that stores data and makes it easy to access and tag data. Am I just using Notes wrong? Has anyone been able use these apple apps efficiently? [link] [comments]
The same file twice in the same folder Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:29 PM PST I have a strange situation on one of my external drives, where in some folders I have the same file twice. It I is named identically. Yes, it is identical. Yes, I've checked lowercase, spaces, suffix, etc. It really is identical. In Finder the file sizes are identical as well but in the file info one has the correct size while the other one is only 4kb. What could be going on and what can I do? This seems to affect hundreds or thousands of files. I've run the disk utility, which finds no problems. Formatted: APFS OS: Catalina [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:32 AM PST Long story short - I am using a MacBook Air (pre 2018 model) and today Ireceived a notification that a new update for MacOS Catalina is available. I closed all my tabs and apps and I let it run while I went to the gym. When I came back, I had on the screen the error that there isn't enough space for the update to be made and I was stuck in that loop not being able to delete 5gb for the update. I used the recovery utilities, I realised that I haven't backed up my stuff in the time machine ever so I went to erase my drive and reinstall the MacOS. It went well until this error showed up with 4 mins before the end error It won't work and the only thing I can enter is the MacOS utilities. Also, when restarting it does something like this. What should I do to fix it? I would like to use it during the weekend. Thx [link] [comments]
High Sierra broke audio to USB DAC. Mac Mini 2010 stutters even on iTunes. Posted: 23 Nov 2019 05:43 PM PST I have an old 2010 Mac Mini dedicated to play high res audio using Audirvana and Oppo HA-1 DAC. It was working perfect until I installed High Sierra. Now all audio going to usb DAC stutters. Even low res from iTunes doesn't work well. Hdmi sound as it should. Is there anything I can do to repair the problem or just go back to 10.9? Thank you!! Is there an app that will allow you to mirror a Mac screen on an Android device, over the internet. Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:31 PM PST I am looking to help an older family member do some things on their computer, but they live on the opposite side of the country from me, so it has to be remote. It is extremely difficult to try and get it done by phone oh, so I would really appreciate some way for me to be able to view their screen. Therefore I am looking for some kind of screen mirroring software that will allow me to see what is going on on their laptop, on my phone (I am currently traveling and only have my smartphone with me). I have investigated a few apps, but none seemed to really do the trick. I was recommended one that seems pretty close, called iDisplay. It looks 99% like what I need, but I am not sure if it will work over a long-distance data connection. The website says it works over Wi-Fi, but that is inconclusive. According to some reviews on the Google Play Store, it does work on Wi-Fi but you actually have to be on the same network, which I assume iis just to help people mirror it when they are in physical possession of both devices. Others say you can do it over the internet, but I'm not sure which one to believe. I would love to try it out just for free, but it is an $18 purchase on both ends, and I'd rather not drop that kind of cash just to find out that it doesn't work. Does anyone know anything about that, and if not are there any other services you might recommend for this. Thank you. [link] [comments]

Where should you save files that come with a download of a program? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 04:47 PM PST For example; I downloaded a program called LG On Screen Control and when I clicked on Download it opened something called zip. I clicked that and then there was a DNG file a folder called LG OSC Helper and more. Can I delete those files or where should you generally save them, because many of my downloaded programs had something like that. [link] [comments]
Is anyone having audio interface issues after updating to macOS Catalina? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:10 AM PST Hey, guys. I've been putting off updating to the latest macOS version because I like to wait a bit after release, since it usually has some bugs and is not very stable. I finally decided to update it last weekend (I'm currently running version 10.15.1) and everything seemed to be working fine. I have a Steinberg UR22 mkII audio interface which I use to plug a bass or guitar and everything was working fine, and after the update I tried it and everything seemed to be ok. During the week there were some updates to Mainstage, Garage Band and Logic Pro X which I did, but back then I didn't have the opportunity to try the interface. Fast forward to today. The interface is working fine if it's for general purpose listening such as watching videos on Google Chrome or listening to songs on Spotify or playing audio files on Finder, but as soon as I start any "music" app (e.g., Bias FX 2, Garage Band, Logic Pro X, Mainstage) I get a message saying "Audio Device Removed" and then one saying "The last available interface can't be found. Using default." (something like that, which reverts to the built-in input and output) and the interface disappears from the list of input and output devices on the system audio settings and only appears if I close the app and reconnect the USB cable. I have already tried going to Steinberg's website to install the latest version of the interface's firmware but it says it's not compatible with the current installed OS. Also, I took a look at the release notes of the latest version and there's nothing related to macOS Catalina update so I doubt that even if I could install it that it would change anything. Do you guys know what could be causing this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:18 PM PST Recently updated to Catalina, and went to sync my phone. I didn't realize at first that the whole syncing was in a different application to music. But, when I unplugged my phone cause the sync was complete some of my music got taken off and seem it won't go back on, because for some unknown reason the bar at the bottom says its full, yet I have 60 GB still on it. Any advice? Edit: I have 25 GB of documents and data which has never happened before. [link] [comments]
Safari plug in that shows urls of links? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 02:40 PM PST back in the day browsers used to give you a preview of the URL of any link. like, you hovered over the link, and the URL appeared at the bottom. This is a fantastic security practice since it helps reduce link phishing. Safari stripped that out a long time ago, but I used to have a plug in that added back the functionality. now I did a reinstall and lost the plug in. also I think they have changed their plug in architecture. Could anybody recommend a plug in that would do this job well? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:27 AM PST Can it be that MacOS does not support any way to find out which programs are actually using which GPU? Any third party solutions? [link] [comments]
Recommend me a light weight no frills photo viewer? Posted: 23 Nov 2019 05:04 AM PST I have a lot of photos on a external drive to sift through. Can you recommend me a browser to be able to arrow through them? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:13 PM PST I can't get this feature to work in MacOS lately no matter what I do. Passwords are saved in keychain and work fine on my iPhone 11 but I enable/disable keychain on my Mac Pro and nothing works. I've literally tried everything, including signing out of iCloud on both my Mac Pro and my iPhone and hoping that would fix it. Nope! [link] [comments]
Having a weird networking issue. Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:07 PM PST Here's the deal, 3 macs in the house, all on the same Orbi network. One is a 2015 Macbook Air (Catalina), the other a 2013 iMac (High Sierra) and the third is a 2010 iMac (Mac OSX server). I can share screens but it will NOT let me connect other wise. Sharing screens is fine but the transfer speeds are atrociously slow. I'm been on Macs exclusively since 94 so I dare say I'm not a n00b but i'm stumped here. Help! [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:18 AM PST I just got a 2014 rMBP with 10.14.6 and I migrated files from my High Sierra 2013 MBA. I rely on Pages '09 predominately because of how feature-barren Pages 8 is (with my biggest gripe being the lack of non-contiguous text selection—even TextEdit has that feature for crying out loud). But I've noticed that when scrolling or typing in a document in Pages, the frame rate drops noticeably. Letters don't appear immediately on the screen and there is noticeable lag when scrolling up or down. Questions 1) Anyone know how to get rid of this? 2) Has anyone completely installed iWork '09 from scratch on a 10.14.6 machine? I've heard some people say that Pages 09 wasn't working on Mojave, like not letting them make new documents, but that hasn't been an issue for me, and I wasn't sure if that was an old bug/if there is some chance that iWork won't install bc Mojave even though it's functional now as a migrated app. [link] [comments] |
