iPad Air 2 is still great!

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 05:45 AM PST

I just bought this device and it is unbelievable considering its age. It has even a better screen than the new iPads 2017-2019. It is thinner and lighter.

Performance is awesome, I even edited a video in iMovie yesterday and was super smooth. Multitasking is without any lagging too

I bought it used for 120$ and that is such a steal for this, I cant believe it was released 5 years ago.

iPadOS 13.2 is pretty damn amazing.

    End of appreciation post

    Annotation app that allows toggling

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 05:39 AM PST

I'm looking for an app that allows me to annotate documents but easily toggle the annotations on and off. Ideally, I would like to have it such that I can show and hide different types of annotations. So, for instance, I can go through and underline certain words with the pencil in red or blue and then toggle between showing the red marks, blue marks, all marks or none.

For explanation, my motivation is that I'm learning Arabic and want to be able to go through a (double-spaced) document in Arabic with my teacher. Vowels aren't marked in typed Arabic, so I'd for instance mark them as we go through in red. Words I don't know I would write the translation of in another colour. I'd then later want to be able to look through the text on my own to translate again. I'd want to be looking at the text without the markings but whenever I'm stuck would want to toggle my markings on and off quickly.

    Useful Homescreen Widgets?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 09:38 AM PST

So far, I've really been enjoying keeping widgets pinned to the homescreen on the iPad. I keep Dark Skies, Up Next, and Shortcuts (to fire off workflows) pinned as always available. What app widgets do you guy use on your homescreen? What apps have useful widgets?

    Air 2 IPadOS 13 Rescue

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 06:48 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

I just managed to rescue my air 2 (and all its data) after going through the iPadOS update which led to bricking my iPad. This is known, even in the official Apple forums. There is a chance for the air 2 to be bricked by the iPadOS update. For some reason, the iPad would be very sluggish, taking up to 30 seconds to respond to any command, you can't connect to wifi, most apps don't work, at this point your only hope is to erase it (losing everything on it). First things first , BACKUP REGULARLY, I can't stress this enough, if you backup you wouldn't have to go through all of this in the first place. I haven't backed up in a year

I was going through the Apple support forums discussing this problem, feeling desperate that I will lose all my data in the process. One particular member pointed out that the iPad could not connect to any network that has a password. That was the genesis of the rescue operation.

On my iPad I had an app named file hub. It's a file managing app with wifi transfer. Of all the apps that I had , file hub was one of the only apps that actually worked in that iPad state. I didn't want to risk my router in the attempt, so I hooked up my Ethernet cable to my MacBook, Went to system preferences, chose "sharing" icon, from there in the drop down menu you can choose to share internet, from the "USB 10/100" to wifi , meaning you just created a hotspot using your Ethernet cable. I left it without a password so my iPad would connect. It did, I launched filehub, imported all the photos in my camera roll then activated wifi transfer. It worked, I managed to salvage everything, my photos, documents that I had inside of file hub, everything. I tried erasing my iPad but it didn't work, so I placed it in dfu mode. Turn your iPad off, connect it to the laptop then press power and home for 10 seconds before releasing the power button while still holding the home button. iTunes detected an iPad in dfu mode. Proceed to restore it (it downloads the software from Apple). Done, iPad works just as new. I'm sharing this because I was praying that someone would have figured this out when I was so desperate. I didn't. So I'm sharing this, so that if anyone is in a similar situation could benefit from the file sharing app he might have and rescue his air 2. Thanks everyone

Help deciding on case for 11” iPad Pro

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 11:37 AM PST

    Hi

I currently have an otterbox symmetry case with the Logitech keys to go keyboard and Microsoft arc mouse but I think I want an all in one solution for my keyboard.

I'm looking at the Apple and Logitech folio's, I've not had a play with either but from what I have read the Apple one seems to be very good and light weight but lacks in protection compared to the Logitech. At the moment my ipad in the otterbox case is kept protected in a sleeve along with all my accessories. I'm thinking that a less protective case like the Apple folio might potentially be ok if I keep everything in the sleeve.

    Just curious on people's opinions.

LiquidText Pro is driving me insane. Vanishing pencil notes.

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 02:24 PM PST

Anyone else has this issue? It would have been the best app for me by far, if it wasn't for the fact that at least once per day it will start behaving erratically. What I mean by that is that my written notes will disappear right after I lift the Apple Pencil from the screen. Zoom in, they appear again, for a while, then they disappear again. Zoom out, even the old notes disappear. What is the optimal zoom for writing using LiquidText Pro?

I am feeling a bit disappointed that I had to pay a 25 usd (!) premium for an ipad app whose software clearly demonstrates a memory management problem, except if I'm doing it wrong.

    Anyone else experienced this issue?

Is iPad mini 5 good for gaming?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 02:12 PM PST

I'll play mostly COD Mobile and PUBG, but the small screen is what keeps me from not buying it. I also considered on buying the Air 3, but it costs 150€ more, Is the mini the best value tablet?

Does low date mode in wifi prevent IOS from downloading update

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 12:37 PM PST

Even if I have all updates turned off, IOS will download the update (but not install) when connected to wifi. I'm currently in my cabin connected to a hotspot so I'd like to avoid this as it burns through too much data. Will leaving it on low data mode prevent IOS download (I know apple like to download the updates)

    Refurbished 2017 iPad Pro 10.5" for $325.99

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 11:59 AM PST

I've been on the fence about buying a new 11-inch iPad Pro, but i just found a deal on a 2017 10.5" iPad Pro Refurbished for only $325.99

Will this come with a warranty from Apple? Is this worth it to get this over the 2018 11-inch iPad Pro?

A Naive Question about Apple Pencil

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 07:50 PM PST

So I am planning to buy an iPad Pro + Pencil for my girlfriend. She loves drawing really much and she has been thinking about getting an iPad Pro and a Pencil for a while now. I have been browsing the reviews on the Apple Pencil page and people always talk about how fragile the Pencil is even though it is marvelous when it isn't broke. What is your experience using the Apple Pencil? Does it stop working after a single drop or after not using it for a while? Is the magnetic bond between the Pencil and your iPad that weak? (I read about people accidentally touch the Pencil and it falls to the ground and stops working afterward a lot).

This is my first post and I am not sure if this post is allowed even though I checked the rules a few times. Please let me know if it is irrelevant and I'll post it somewhere else. Thank you, guys!

    Good quality swivel cases

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 06:24 AM PST

I'm getting the iPad pro 12.9 inch, and the apple keyboard case just doesn't appeal to me very much. Shallow travel, and the idea of continuously being in contact with the keys while in tablet mode just turns me off of it. That being said, I have searched around intensively and found a few good alternatives, which offer the swiveling option(something I love)

However, all the reviews on them are mixed. Hit or miss. I'm honestly lost so I'm hoping some of you could potentially shed some light on some good quality keyboard cases which offer the swiveling option.

    I'd really appreciate any feedback!

How do I get my Seagate Backup Plus 1tb to work with my iPad Air 3?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 05:04 PM PST

As the title suggest, I'm trying to move files between the iPad and HDD. When I connect using this adapter Elecjoy USB Camera Adapter, USB 3.0 Female Otg Adapter Cable with USB Power Interface Data Sync Charge Cable,No App Required https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078YLPTL3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_aOHWDb11B4AA4 I get "needs more power" error. I've seen somewhere that I need an official Apple USB adapter for the iPad, can anyone confirm this will work? Or what adapter I can get that will? Thanks!
