App to draw and play with floor plans Posted: 01 Nov 2019 12:15 PM PDT I'm looking for an app that enables me to sketch a bit with room planning. I don't need the overloaded expensive floor planning tool for perfection or architectural use, a simple drawing app with the ability for measurements and maybe some constraints would be good. I want to basically sketch out some rooms and play a bit with elements, move them arround, see how they fit in the overall thing. I know about concepts but don't think it really helps drawing technically with measurements and constraints (or I didn't find it). I also know stuff like Affinity Designer but similarily doesn't offer that kind of stuff, does it? Apple Pencil (2) support would be appreciated. Thanks for any hint. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2019 12:57 PM PDT TLDR AT BOTTOM Hey guys, a couple months ago, I mistakenly left my iPad (first gen iPad pro) on the city train and thought it was lost forever. Making things worse, is the fact that my account was hacked and the iPad was removed from the account (I have since secured my account). Regardless, I considered it a lost cause and moved on. About a week ago, I spotted someone advertising that he had a stolen iPad. Apparently he was "fooled" by buying it unknowingly with activation lock. I take a look at the pictures and I am about 99% sure at this point that it is my iPad. Same colour, storage size, model, case you name it. However in his ad, he says that he either needs the owner to confirm the serial number, or have the activation lock removed in front of him. I should ad here that the iPad was purchased new 2 years ago at Best Buy. I knew I had the receipt somewhere, but I'd gotten rid of the box. I double checked my iCloud account, but it wasn't on there (as I'd expected). So I message the guy telling him my story, I tell him that I don't have the serial number, nor do I have the account information on the account, but that I was fairly certain that the iPad was mine. He messages me back saying that he's only going to give the iPad back when he gets either the serial number or get the activation lock removed (which is understandable because it kind of looked like I was just trying to get a free iPad). So I go looking for the receipt which was saved somewhere on my computer, and while looking, I also found a picture of a screenshot of the iCloud website, where it shows the iPad on my account but with most of the serial number blanked out. So I go ahead and I tell him these digits and he confirms that they match but he says that if I can show him the receipt, he'd give it back. So I go looking for it but ask him in the meantime if he could give me the serial number, as I thought it would make it easier for me to find it. But he gets all defensive and says that he doesn't trust me at all and that I'd need to show him the receipt. Additionally, he says that I made an "educated guess" as to what the last couple digits of the iPad where so he wants me to give him the whole serial number. After a little bit of digging around, I find the receipt but apparently Best Buy doesn't include serial numbers on the receipts. I show him a picture, but he still isn't convinced and keeps telling me to find the serial number. So now I'm at a point where I don't know what to do. I never filled a police report when I lost the iPad because there wasn't a crime that was involed, but it's pretty clear that this individual (whatever his intentions may be), seems unwilling to return my iPad. Additionally, he technically isn't committing a crime, so I don't think I can file a report, especially when I don't have such limited information. Additionally, I don't really want to get the police involved because they honestly have more important things to look after and because I feel like they wouldn't really do anything in this case. (Plus I'm currently in the middle of exam season at University and I'm already busy enough). If it makes things important, this is in Alberta, Canada. Initially, my plan was to get the police involved by staging a meet up (by telling him I could unlock it in front of him with a different account or something), and have the police handle the situation, but I don't think this is a good idea because I don't know if this person actually stole the iPad, or genuinely got fooled by this other person he supposedly bought the iPad from (it seems plausible but there's some holes in his story - he goes on telling me that I can find the iPad serial number on my account, but he for whatever reason failed to check that the iPad was activation locked in the first place.) (I should also mention that based on the picture of him in the reflection of the iPad glass, this guy's somewhat of a big dude, and I don't really feel at all comfortable meeting with him at all anymore and also that I kind of want to just let this be, and get a new iPad as I kind of need one for school, but I really don't have the money to do this) Anyways, if anyone can suggest somethings I could do to get my iPad back, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced --- TLDR: Need help getting back my lost iPad back from someone locally who apparently purchased it unknowingly with Activation lock. He doesn't trust me despite all the information I've given him (last couple digits of serial number, receipt without the serial number) and seems unwilling to give me back my iPad. Any apps that could help me check how my battery capacity is doing on my iPad mini 2? Posted: 01 Nov 2019 03:59 AM PDT I had an app called "Battery life" but since iOS 12 it is no longer useful. Do you know of any apps that could work? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Should I get an iPad or stick to my Macbook? Posted: 01 Nov 2019 10:11 AM PDT I am currently a Business Management student who plans on transferring to film school next year. I used to have a 6th gen iPad but sold it to get a Macbook Air 2018 and now I am conflicted again. I want to sell this Air and get a 12.9 inch 2018 iPad Pro but am not sure if its the right decision for me. Take note that I havent used iPad OS yet so I dont know the experience on it. I love the typing experience on the Macbook and multitasking is an absolute dream but I miss the iPad too much for all the creative possiblities and convenience of it. I want to be using the iPad mainly for editing with Affinity Photo/Designer, Procreate, note taking, word processing and video editing. The iPad would be the perfect device for me for most things I need done but I am mainly worried about video editing and word processing. I found typing and doing research on a 9.7 inch 6th gen too small and cumbersome and am wondering if that is still the case for the 12.9 inch Pro. I also want to know if LumaFusion is powerful enough for my editing needs. Maybe eventually I will get a 2013 iMac but for now this is all I will have. Should I stick to my Macbook Air 2018 or sell it for a 12.9 inch Pro and maybe eventually get an iMac down the line? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Nov 2019 12:46 PM PDT Hi, and thanks for checking out my issues. :) I'm using an iPad to access iMovie, and whenever I try to open it, I get the following prompt: "Apple ID Verification" The email its asking for is not my email. This is an iPad for our Point-of-Sale I bought when I bought our store, the email is the old business owner. How do I fix this to ask for my passcode? Thanks!!! [link] [comments]

White spot and changeable line thickness while writing. Posted: 01 Nov 2019 08:50 AM PDT Hi everyone I'm writing to get to know if You guys are having the same problem. Few days ago I've noticed a white spot above the Home button, and brighter screen edge on the same side. When I'm writing with my Apple Pencil, there are some moments when the line is getting thinner, and sometimes the Pencil is not working at all (for a second, then it's ok). It occurs both in GoodNotes 4/5 and Notability especially using "fountain pen" (while using "ball pen" the line thickness is ok). Previously I thought it's the app fault, but I've seen this in every Note-taking app. Is it caused by this screen? I'm going to send back my iPad to the store where I've bought it and I hope they will do something with it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2019 08:07 AM PDT Over the last few days, several times, I've had multiple tabs open in Safari on my ipad and then closed safari, and when I reopen it, it has lost all the tabs and only has one open. I have it set to close tabs manually, so it's not an automatic close out, and I close/quit the app fairly regularly (at least a couple of times a day, I'm a bit weird about not having too many things open at once) and it's only happening occasionally. Any ideas anyone? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Nov 2019 02:54 AM PDT I have a iPad pro 11" best device that I've had in a long time. I did get a pair of airpods for 130$. Before the update you could double tap to pause/play your music not anymore. It's now setup to seek your songs. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2019 05:38 AM PDT If you want to enjoy the goodness of WhatsApp on your iPad, add this simple shortcut linked here to your home screen! It just opens WhatsApp Web, but acts like a standalone app! This simple and stupid shortcut is much better than those ad filled apps on the AppStore, and does the same thing :) You just need to pair your phone once. You'll need iPad OS 13 though, as desktop mode in Safari is needed. https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/8815cf2409034d78b4e887f982b34cf4 [link] [comments]
Not sure whether to get the iPad air 3 or the iPad pro 10.5 Posted: 01 Nov 2019 12:54 AM PDT I know this question has been asked plenty of times, but I just want to hear more opinions about it. So the primary use for the ipad will be for uni but I'm also really interested in getting into digital art which is why I'm looking at ipads specifically as they seem to be the best in that area. After some research I narrowed down my options into these 2. The Air 3 is $740 64gb (AUD) Pro 10.5 is $940 256gb if I were to buy them refurbished from the Apple store, however there are other stores selling them as cheap as $650 (64gb). Seems like a no brainer to just get the $650, but since the pro 10.5 is notorious for the white spot issue I don't know if risking it by buying it from anywhere but the Apple store is a good idea. Not sure if it's entirely true but apparently Apple store does the refurbishment a lot better and thoroughly too. The advantages of the Pro 10.5 are ProMotion, extra RAM and the quad speakers(will mostly be using headphones anyway but it'll be nice in some situations, not a deal maker or breaker). The camera is irrelevant for me. Advantage of Air 3 is the newer chip, so longer support. Honestly if third party resellers were to be trusted then I'd get the Pro 10.5 for $650 for sure, but I don't know if the advantages of the Pro 10.5 are worth an extra $200 if I were to buy it from the apple store. I guess it all really comes down to whether I really need to buy refurbished products from the Apple store or if it's just as safe and reliable from other stores. Sorry for the long post. Would appreciate any opinions. Thank you. [link] [comments]
How do I safely disconnect my hard drives from my iPad? Posted: 31 Oct 2019 03:00 PM PDT I have a few hard drives, some powered externally and I wanted to know how to safely eject them. To be as safe as possible, I've been turning off the iPad before I unplug them, but is that necessary? How can I tell when it's done reading/writing data? [link] [comments]
TwomonUSB vs The Competition? Ipads as a second screen Posted: 31 Oct 2019 02:58 PM PDT After a 3-4 year hiatus from owning an ipad I bought one last night. It will probably be used as a second screen for my pc desktop as much as it will be used as a tablet. I already owned the Twomonusb app from when I had an ipad before. It seems like duet display is the leader for connecting a windows pc to the ipad but is it worth the upgrade? has anyone used both or know of a better solution?I am unhappy with twomonusb, the latency and image quality is far from where I want it.
