iPad Pro 12.9” Wi-Fi bent today

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 01:30 PM PST

My iPad Pro was still in it's laptop sleeve in my backpack which I had put it in yesterday, and apparently that was a bad idea as when I took it out of it's sleeve today it was bent. Specifically, it was bent in the middle where the Apple Pencil cut out is. It still works just fine, the pencil charges, there's no screen distortion, somehow it has managed to bend somewhat but the device still works perfectly fine. I don't really know how to feel about this, whether it's worth booking an appointment at a nearby service provider and try to get a replacement, or if I should just use it as is. I'm wondering what your experiences are with bent iPads and what the service was like. If I brought it in I would hope for a full free replacement, but I worry they might dismiss it since it still works and functions normally.

    Wavy diagonal lines?

    Wavy diagonal lines?

I have just been at an Apple store and tried two different Ipad Air 3, one Ipad Pro 12.9", and one Ipad Pro 11", all with a plastic ruler - and the problem occurs on every single one of them.

I have experimented very thoroughly in multiple apps to make a more general conclusion; the apps I used was Apple's Pages, Procreate, Autodesk Sketchbook, and Apple's Notes. I used an Apple Pencil 2 for the Ipad Pros and Apple Pencil 1 for the two Ipad Air 3.

The problem is that when you draw a diagonal line (e.g. using a plastic ruler), the lines are wavy while horizontal and vertical lines are perfectly straight. This image illustrates it very well:

    https://preview.redd.it/l7kc2buqk9041.png?width=1003&format=png&auto=webp&s=bc72e270abaff6f656d4726fee05c7b4eac79546

Why is this, why haven't Apple fixed it? Isn't this behavior a bit unacceptable for 1000$+ devices like the Ipad Pro 12.9"? Do you know a fix? (you could of course turn up the smoothness in apps like Procreate but that seems sub-optimal).

Thanks!! Your time is much appreciated

    The Usefulness of Guided Access

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 11:07 PM PST

Hey guys, I just wanted to tell you about Guided Access on the iPad Pro and earlier iPads. It is a very powerful tool and is very useful for specific purposes.

No one will be able to leave the app that has Guided Access unless they know the password. This is especially useful if you give your device to someone to use on a particular app and don't want them snooping around on your iPad.

Many people know about it but don't know the usefulness or how to use it. It can be found in Settings>acessibility>Guided Access. You will need to turn on Guided Access and it will prompt you to enter a password. You can enter your iPad password or create another password which only you will know but please DO NOT FORGET THAT PASSWORD.

To turn on Guided Access, you must be on the app that you want to apply GA to. Just triple-click the switch that is used to off the iPad in the app and you will be prompted with the Guided Access screen. If you are using an older iPad, triple-click the home button. You will be greeted with the guided access page. Click Options on the bottom left. Here, you can choose the options that suit you:

    Options:

Sleep/Wake: To turn off the Sleep/Wake button on your device, turn this off.

Volume Buttons: To turn off the volume buttons on your device, turn this off. This will ensure the volume is fixed and cannot be changed once GA is turned on.

Motion: To limit how your device responds to motion, turn this off. For example, your screen won't respond when shaken, and the screen won't rotate no matter how you hold your device.

Keyboard: To turn off the keyboard so that it does not appear, turn this off.

Touch: If you want your device to ignore screen touches, turn this off. Especially useful if you're trying to trace something on the iPad and don't want the image to move/respond to touches.

Dictionary: To use the Look-Up feature when you select text, turn this on.

Timer: To choose a time limit for your Guided Access session, turn this on.

Then click Start on the top right. This will enable GA. To end it, triple-click the home button on older iPad or triple-click on-off switch on the iPad. Enter the password and you will leave GA.

Is there a way to use my First-Gen iPad Mini as an extra monitor?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 11:34 AM PST

It's pretty useless nowadays as you can't download most apps or even download the Netflix app because the iPad is not supported anymore.

Was thinking if i could use it as an extra monitor and if there any free apps that offer that. i don't care if it has shitty FPS aslong it works.

Is YouTube trying to sabotage the iPad experience or is this just my isolated problem

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 10:21 AM PST

YouTube in safari keeps trying to redirect me to the mobile site, it happens frequently enough to where it has become annoying, requesting desktop site doesn't work and had I not happened upon the desktop button in the option on the YouTube page (which feels purposefully obfuscated) then I'd be stuck wrestling with this nonstop. Are others experiencing these problems or is this just me?

It's boxing Day going to be better than black Friday.

I was planning on buying an iPad air, or maybe the pro for note taking. Should I wait till boxing day to see if it's a better deal? Live in Canada.

IPad Pro 2019, sudden Audio sync problems?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 09:14 AM PST

My Anker Sound Buds Flow headphones are sometimes not synced with the audio in the YouTube app. I say sometimes because every now and then I can fix this problem just by re-starting my iPad and disconnecting the headphones but on days like today even that won't work. I'm sick of it, can someone tell me what to do?

Looking for a refurbished iPad for my 85 year old mom—hers was stolen. I don’t think she needs the latest model. Are refurbished ones available on eBay generally safe to buy? Any advice is appreciated.

    Question for those power users

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 07:25 AM PST

So I was thinking about getting an ipad pro 12.9inch.

Just want to know what does everyone use their ipad for especially the ones that use it as a replacement laptop or daily driver for school etc.

I seen some people post pictures of their ipad setups connected to monitors or just using adobe and things or that nature just want to know is it really worth it.

What is the most stable way to watch and load videos on a 1tb iPad Pro?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 06:59 AM PST

I've got a 12.9 1tb iPad Pro which I use VLC to upload movies however I noticed it gets pretty unstable while viewing the thumbnails of all my movies.

Any other alternative to VLC that can hold large video files and play most of them?

    Amazon out of stock

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 06:13 AM PST

Looks like amazon iPad Pro 11s are out of stock at the moment. I've been stalking the prices to wait for the 256GB to drop to $800 again or the 64GB to drop to $650. Do you think they will come back in stock around Black Friday or before the holidays? Want to pull the trigger before 2020 but I can be patient and wait for the price drop.

iPad Battery decreasing while not in use?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 02:21 AM PST

I lose about 10-15% of battery life when not in use. I've done everything to counteract this :( my ipad is the 7th gen ipad (2019) 128gb, it's on iOS 13.

Do any of you guys have the same experiences?

2 many iPads? How many and what for?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 06:39 PM PST

Hey, everyone. I recently bought a 12.9 2nd gen as a portable setup; I'm an illustrator. My partner who introduced me to it passed away, and mere days after I got my iPad, my in-law asked me if I wanted my partner's.

Suffice it to say, not sure if I should sell the one I bought. And if I do, I'm concerned about having to wipe my partner's iPad to set up my own accounts on the app store and social media, email, etc.

Anyway, I guess bottom line, may have a second iPad. Is there reason to keep it? I'm uncertain if there's a utility to having 2, especially since it's my first apple device. Let me know, artists and creatives especially.

Im About To Get A Ipad Air (3rd Generation) Online, What Should I Get Engraved On It?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 05:15 AM PST

    Power button feel.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 01:01 AM PST

I have a 2018 iPad Pro. I never abuse it and keep it in a case. I noticed the power button seems a little off, but I'm not sure if I just didn't notice it before or it's something new. It functions, but feels like sits too low. When I press it, there's no audible click like I get with my volume buttons.

Is this normal? Can someone tell me if their power button gives off an audible click.
