A tutorial is a class where the teacher goes through questions on a slideshow and my friends noticed that I can quickly take the photo using the iPad and annotate the answer using the pencil. Both friends have bought iPads and haven't gone back! Honestly, it is a game changer for note-takers and studying!

    Kudos to Apple!

Stop IPAD from connecting to unknown Apple TV

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 09:47 AM PST

My IPad Pro with IPad OS keeps connecting to an appletv in my schools building. I'm not sure where the Apple TV is located so I'm not sure if it's actually broadcasting. How do I stop it from connecting? I tried retarting my ipad but when I turned it back on it connected to it again.

How do you edit metadata of photos ?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 09:00 AM PST

I transfered photos from Google to apple but the Google one had a cool feature so I could view the location just with it guessing with the time and movement. Now I have to add them in the EXIF but how can I do so?

    Bring Back Split Keyboard

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 10:16 AM PST

Does anyone know a way to trigger the split keyboard like in old iOS version for iPads? I think i could def type with the tablet in my hand for my 12.9 pro if you could do this again. How do we force apple to bring this back? Revolt? Revolution?

The floating keyboard seems to be treated the same as the large keyboard, forcing things half way up the screen, even though the keyboard isn’t actually in the way.

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 10:15 PM PST

If I'm watching YouTube (Safari) PiP like I am now, and the small keyboard pops up, the PiP window still jumps half way up the screen to get out of the way like it does with the big keyboard.

This is even though the floating keyboard is small and not actually anywhere near being in the way. Moving the floating keyboard doesn't change anything. The PiP window won't go lower than the middle of the screen with it up.

I also noticed this in discord. Whenever I go to type, half the screen becomes the chat box, so I can barely see what anyone's saying unless I hide the keyboard. This happens even if I'm using Discord in split view and the small keyboard is at the other side of the screen. Apps don't seem to know the difference between the floating keyboard and full size one.

How to receive/send fax on an iPad?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 12:41 PM PST

I need to fax 3 pages and receive them back...is there an app I can use for iPad? I see most of them SEND but I can't tell from reviews if they can RECEIVE.

Can you connect 2 iPads via sidecar to 1 computer?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 11:48 PM PST

I currently use my iPad Pro (1st gen) as a side monitor for both my iMac and MacBook Pro and I'm going to buy a new iPad Pro. Could I connect both iPad pros to my MacBook Pro or iMac?

    Thanks

They’ve used a squashed heart when this graphic appears. It’s even different proportions to the one on the button. Mildly infuriating...

    iPad condensation in snowy environments

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 02:06 AM PST

Does anyone have any advice about bringing their iPad into super cold environments? I'm planning on bringing it on my ski trip, but I'm worried about possible condensation problems that could occur if I go from a cold environment to a warm one. Is it enough if I keep it in a small pouch? Any suggestions? Thanks!

What note taking app allows to insert blank space between texts?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 12:45 AM PST

    Hi,
As the title says, what note app allows this function. I have Goodnotes5 and OneNote, but it seems neither has this feature. I miss the Windows OneNote which allows me to insert spaces.
    Thank you.

Any decent alternatives to Dragon Anywhere for dictation?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 04:01 PM PST

    Hey all!

I drive for work and would like to do long form dictation on my iPad Pro I've fixed with a seat mount. Google docs has pretty great dictation, but for some reason it's not available on iPad OS. Siri dictation ain't the worst, but cuts after 40s Google board also cuts out, sometimes before I've even spoken Dragon sounds like a great option (I don't mind paying if it suits my needs), but there are a lot of one star reviews that claim the app is abandonware, they lose access to the app after paying, customer service is bad, and they can't get a refund. Sounds like a nightmare.

Most of the other apps let you record and then it dictates it back later, so you can't reference our build a document.

On the other hand, Otter seems pretty good, but it's for meetings so the formatting is time stamped and broken up

    Anyone found a good option?

Is there a 3D model viewing app that allows a 3D viewing feel?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 10:24 PM PST

"Parallax View" gives apps the ability to track a viewer's face/eyes with the camera and mimic depth on the screen as the viewer moves their head about. Even though this technology has been around for at least 8 years I'm having difficulty finding apps utilizing it. I love creating 3D models and would love to know if there might be an ipad app that can do this?

So far I've found 3 apps that use this tech but all are region locked for me (as a United states user), HoloToy, i3D & AnaDraw.

None of these are actually what I want but it would have been fun to test this tech and see if it's even worthwhile. This does make me curious, might you know of more apps like these or ones that allows you to important your own models with this ability that I may not be aware of due to region lock?

Breeding new life on "Obsolete" iPad

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 02:44 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

I own an iPad2 (I guess it's an iPad2, it's an old iPad, one of those that you can't update past 9.3.5). Lately I've been thinking about using it to get some wok done. Little that I know that not only I couldn't update past iOS 9.3.5, most of the apps I was looking at require at least version 10.

I'm currently looking at some way of having SSH or Mosh available so I could do some programming work. Apps like Blink Shell or Termius require newer iOS versions so I'm stuck.

Is there any way of installing an older version of an app, or do you guys know of any app I can still use on my iPad that will provide me at least ability to SSH into other machines?

Parental controls to lock down iPad?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 06:19 PM PST

My 8 yr old uses a Kindle for watching Netflix, Amazon videos and playing a few games. The Kindle allows you to lock it down tight where he can't download anything, can't get directly to the internet, can't make changes to the device, and has curfew hours to limit usage to daytime. I want to switch him over to an iPad but I can't figure out how to create these same restrictions. Does this exist in Settings or perhaps there is an app?
