[QUESTION] Why are jailbreak developers doing this?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 02:43 PM PST

Okay, I opened this account just to ask this question; because I am afraid it could get disliked. So, I am a jailbreaker since (almost) the early days but there is one thing that I can't understand. Why are you devoting your time into this (not tweak developers, I am talking about Luca, pwn, coolstar etc.) ? I mean, you put your time into this but you're not earning any money in return but you gotta support your life in some way. Working at a regular job and also being a hacker would not be an easy task, would it? You basically offer free services for us. Google also offer "free" services as well lol is it like that? Is it some kind of trade of that we're not aware of? Once upon a time there were rumors about coolstar that he was exposing user's private data but that is just one thing.

I am grateful to y'all but please enlighten me without getting rude or turning this into a keyboard battle.

[Request] EasyTask Easier multitasking. Open recent app without releasing a finger. Just swipe up the home bar, enter a multitasking mode, hover over the desired app without even releasing a finger, then wait for a bit of a second until it changes the background then release the finger. App opened.

[Tutorial] Fix for the people stuck in a semi-working jailbreak with only app-tweaks working, and settings-based tweaks not appearing on the settings menu.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 05:42 PM PST

Its the second time I've had this issue in 2 weeks. The cydia is opening just fine, I can install tweaks, if I install an app from the cydia it appears on the device and is working.

If its a settings-based tweak, it doesn't appear on the settings menu (neither of the tweaks do) and eventually they don't work.

I've been trying to fix it by many ways, reinstalling preference loader, restarting services, doing resprings uicaches, etc.

Then I realized it was the safe mode being broken, but I still could see my background picture, and there was no Exit on the top left, though none of the ways to enter safe-mode worked, the device just did a respring, and got back to the 'broken' mode again.

So the fix was pretty simple, thanks to @Keto#9465 & Jimmehh#8892 from JB discord for thinking together with me and finding to fix that thing without rejailbreaking, which I had to do the first time I've had this issue happen.

Basically what I've had to do was:

    1. SSH into device
    2. cd /etc/rc.d
    3. ./substrate & (not sure if that did something, but since running ./substrate didn't do anything - adding an ampersand in the end made it run in the background)
    4. killall -9 SpringBoard (at this point device was just stuck in the respring spinning circle)
    5. ldrestart (that turned on the display after like 5-10 seconds)

At this point tweaks settings did appear but they did not work, so I just had to respring my device either with any of the tweaks, or the normal "uicache -r" in the terminal.

After that everything is working just fine.

    iPhone X 12.4.1

    Thanks, peace.

Ah! Ah! Ah! is a tweak that plays a video alarm of your choice when somebody tries, and fails, to guess your passcode - originally developed by Sticktron. This updated version works on iOS 6 through 13, and adds support for A12 devices! (untested for the most part)

[Discussion] Is there a collection of useful/cool jailbreak-related Shortcuts? If not, can we make one?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 05:45 PM PST

It would be awesome if we could create maybe a pinned post or some other collection of Shortcuts that people have made that take advantage of our jailbreaks!

Given that we can directly run terminal commands through a local ssh connection and play with the results in a way that integrates with apps, allows us to initiate the shortcuts via widgets, homescreen, and Siri... the possibilities are numerous.

There have already been a handful of cool shortcuts, but they are usually linked via random replies to posts depending on the topic. Let's create a collection!

[Release]/[Update] DewDrop update. Repo release. InstaBack open-sourced.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 07:19 PM PST

    Hey everyone,

I'm back again to release a few things, below is a list of those things.

    Repo

After a few people didn't know how to install tweaks using Filza, I decided to turn the website into a fully fledged Cydia repository as well.
    https://antiquebeta.github.io/cuddly-chainsaw

    DewDrop

DewDrop has been through several updates so far with the latest being the best, it adds support for transparent icons as it was found out to make banners darker (transparency = black), options have also been added for the quality of colour detection and lock screen support has been added.

    InstaBack

A short while ago someone posted a thing about IGShowLike, a tweak which displays likes back on Instagram, this was paid and in my opinion shouldn't be. I've released my code which was the first tweak to do that (not bragging, it's free).
    https://github.com/antiquebeta/cuddly-chainsaw/blob/master/source-code/instaback/README.md

Have a great day/evening! I'll be back whenever I've done a bit more work.

Feel free to follow me on Twitter if you'd like to see updates: Shameless Plug.

Please give feedback on the tweaks, website and repo.

    Regards,
    Antique
