Apple should make a QuickTime app for iPad Posted: 30 Oct 2019 11:36 AM PDT Viewing videos on Files is like viewing videos on Finder, they're both using preview. And the preview is not that good for watching videos. If Apple made a QuickTime app for iPad, it'd be nice to have 10 second skip/rewind buttons, with chapter controls and captioning / audio track selections, etc. What I mainly want is to watch a video in QuickTime for iPad, then swipe up to go home and have the video pop into picture-in-picture. And with iOS and macOS sharing the same QuickTime folder on iCloud Drive, sharing video between would be so seamless. And have the QuickTime app always open to file browsing like it already does with macOS. As well as features to convert videos too. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Oct 2019 01:05 PM PDT Now that I am using the iPad for my notetaking I've found that I don't need to carry an entire backpack. However I do bring along a bluetooth "Magic Keyboard" (actually the Apple Wireless Keyboard) and a bluetooth mouse from Amazon. My question is: what is the best way to carry an iPad, Apple Pencil and these two accessories? I am looking for a balance between size and protection, as I don't want something cumbersome but I do want my stuff to be safe. I'd love to see what people's setups are regarding how you carry your stuff. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Why does my iPad drop my Wifi connection if I “forget” the network on my phone? Posted: 30 Oct 2019 02:25 PM PDT I've got a WiFi iPad and connect to my work WiFi at work but I don't like my phone connected to my work WiFi and would rather use my cellular data instead. But for some reason they are linked together. Anyone else have this issue? If so do you know how I could resolve it? [link] [comments]
Does Matlab Online work on iPads with the introduction of desktop class browsing? Posted: 30 Oct 2019 02:16 PM PDT I'm running ChromeOS currently and Matlab Online works fine. I just wanted to know if it works on iPad as I will need it for some uni classes in the future, but also wanted to upgrade to the iPad. Currently, the browser requirements on the Matlab website say that it is compatible on Mac, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS. I'm hoping that the webpage is outdated and Matlab Online works on iPad with iPadOS and desktop-class browsing. If it does work, some screenshots would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Posted: 30 Oct 2019 02:15 PM PDT Hi! I bought my iPad Pro 11 inch last summer and now started my second academic year. I'm studying linguistics, so I'm wondering are there any people here who know really useful apps, features and other tools that they use in their studies or work as linguists. The most interesting thing for me is your reviews on apps for Python and TeX coding like Pythonista and Texpad? Is it worthy of its price? Maybe any alternatives? [link] [comments]

iPad is now my computer....email question Posted: 30 Oct 2019 12:09 PM PDT Hi, I have just moved on from a traditional laptop to using my iPad as my daily driver/computer. It's working out great. I was however wondering if any of you had a preferred email provider that works really well on the ipad? I have my own domain for email and I should have no issue moving providers if need be. Obviously this means either I need the provider to be able to use my domain or I would just be moving to a new app with my current provider. Just curious. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Gallery for photos on external drive Posted: 30 Oct 2019 01:26 AM PDT Does anyone have any recommendations for photo gallery apps which will allow me to scroll through photos from an external drive? I have a big album of hi res photos saved on a usb stick, but can only seem to access them through files and it is a little laggy at times (unsurprising given its circa 16 mb/image and its loading the whole thing). Ideally I'd like to be able to scroll those images as thumbnails, then click to expand it to full res for specific ones I want to view. Does this functionality already exist on an iPad? Or is there a suitable app which can help me? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

HDMI wireless (without Apple TV) Posted: 30 Oct 2019 11:24 AM PDT Hello everyone, I have a iPad Pro 11 with a hub that I can connect trough HDMI to my TV. However sometimes I'm on the couch and want to connect without wires. And I don't have Apple TV. Is there any way to do it? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Oct 2019 10:04 PM PDT I've had my iPad Pro for almost a year and for the majority of that time was treating it mostly like an expensive sketchbook. Woke up one day and decided that was a waste, bought a keyboard folio and filled it up with the apps I use most. Having had some time, I'd like to talk about replacing my laptop with the base amount of storage you can get. I'm aware this topic's been talked to death, but I'd like to throw my two cents in regardless. I should preface this by saying that no, I could not get by with this as my ONLY device. My laptop is still plenty active and I'd definitely feel a pinch if I didn't have it as a "server" of sorts, as it's the main hub for all my storage. It's also just better for watching YouTube or Netflix in my room, and I game a bit on it. I thought of it more as a desktop in this scenario and my iPad as the device I'd do the majority of my general computing on. This is not for everyone. Maybe people who edit large RAW photos or videos could get by with external storage but I could definitely see them being frustrated with the storage constraints. Traveling might be a hassle as you can't offline a bunch of movies or a whole season of a show onto it, again, barring carrying around a flash drive. My work doesn't require extensive computing. I'm a cleaner, so I don't have pressing professional needs. Video editing is the one I see talked about a lot though and here's my hot take having no experience with it: you probably could edit video with 64gb of space, if you're smart. Maybe you're only able to work on one project at a time and then offload it when you're finished. Take this with as much salt as you like, as I say I have no experience with video editing or photography. Stream, stream, stream. Spotify, Netflix, all the usual suspects. The more you can stream, the better. Of course this requires an internet connection and you'd be shelling out more for an LTE model but I've had no problems using my phone as a tether in the rare circumstance I'm away from WiFi. Cloud, cloud, cloud. I have the 200gb, $2.99/month iCloud plan and I feel like that mitigates a lot of the pressure with the base onboard storage. Dropbox, google drive, one drive, doesn't matter. Pick the most convenient one and invest in some cloud storage! Those are the big things I can think of and this post is getting way longer than I intended. Share your stories, tips, why I'm wrong, ask questions, whatever! ✌️ [link] [comments]

Could I use my ipad Pro 12.9“ to learn python with pythonista? Posted: 30 Oct 2019 04:04 AM PDT Howdy all. Forgive my ignorance if this is a silly question. I have an ipad pro 12.9" and was wondering if I bought pythonista would it be suitable to learn python on? I have an extremely old laptop which is nothing short of a donkey,so that's out of the question really. Pythonista is currently £9.99 so I don't want to buy it if there is no real point. I am very much a beginner so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments]
Ipad browser or setting to not have to refresh tabs. Posted: 30 Oct 2019 07:39 AM PDT I have probably 50+ tabs, when I switch to one and switch back to another tab it seems it needs to refresh the page. I don't want that, if possible is there a setting or browser to stop that. [link] [comments]
iPad Air 1 + Notability + Third Party stylus Posted: 30 Oct 2019 07:27 AM PDT I have an iPad Air 1 and want to buy a pencil (Apple Pencil is not working so I need a third party pencil). I think about buying notability to work with pdfs (and because I read that it offered a palm rejection functionality even without the original Apple Pencil). Does anyone has recommendations for a (cheap) Pencil? Or any expectations with the combination of an iPad Air 1, Notability and a third part stylus? [link] [comments]
Is there a list of apps that can be used even with the iOS 9.3.5 update? Posted: 30 Oct 2019 12:49 AM PDT So, long story short I thought it was a good idea to completely clean out my old barely used iPad, because of how slow it is, WITHOUT BACKING IT UP AT ALL, thinking I'd be able to use it productively for school. Little did I know a made a huge ass mistake 😪 [link] [comments]
Do Gamepad controllers work like the mouse in iPadOS? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 09:21 PM PDT With the mouse, you get a pointer that that can navigate the touchscreen. I was wondering if that can also be done with any game controller. My online research seems to show that the controller only works with apps supporting the game controller framework.
