    Black Friday deals?

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 11:45 AM PDT

I was wanting to purchase an iPad but was figuring I'd wait until Black Friday. A lot of the ads haven't been released yet from what I can see (still too early) but does anyone have any idea what store will offer the best deal? And would it be better to go in store or just shop online? I'd be willing to face the crowds if the deal was decent.

Is it possible to set default apps per file type

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 01:17 PM PDT

I thought I was an iPad power user, but I cannot find this simple trick : How to assign an app as default ? Typically, I would like to change the video player to VLC when I touch a video file in the Files app.

    Thanks in advance!

How to protect Lightning connector on devices in "rugged" environments?

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 07:51 AM PDT

I have a set of iPad Pros that need to attach an external device through the Lightning port, but need to function in a "rugged" environment. I believe I can at least initially get by with duct taping the external device to the back of the iPad case, but need a way to protect the Lightning connector itself (where it connects to the device) since that presents an easy breaking point. If it breaks it can create a potentially catastrophic situation due to the machinery in the environment.

Conceptually I'm looking for some kind of rubber/stiff foam that can go around the Lightning connector itself and help protect it from shocks/drops. I would prefer a product that has that integrated into it somehow.

Searching online isn't really turning anything up, since the "rugged" Lightning cables focus on the strength of the cables themselves not the connection. Also some type of integrated case would be great but doesn't really exist for this need.

Does anyone have any experience with something like this?

"Bubba ingenuity" (duct tape/etc solutions) is potentially acceptable as long as it doesn't increase the risk of losing small parts. :)

    Advice on tech backpacks

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 10:16 AM PDT

    Afternoon all!

The unfortunate day has come where my old mission surf Dakine backpack is on it's last legs! Before replacing it with a virtually identical model I wondered what the communities favourites/recommendations were?

My idea for the replacement would be a Dakine campus 33L (https://www.dakine.com/en-gb/bags/backpacks/street-backpacks/campus-33l-backpack/)

Main uses : I work for a tech company so my list of tech is growing fairly quickly! I mainly use Apple so MacBook Pro 13 inch, soon to purchase and iPad Pro and Nintendo switch.

I would mainly use it for commuting to and from work but also travelling! I live in Scotland so a decent level of water resistance is required haha!

    Thanks in advance 🙂🙂

    Adding photos to other photos

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 05:37 AM PDT

Hi, is there a way to add one photo onto the top of another photo? For example I have wrote up notes on paper, took a photo of the paper to save to an album. But then I want to add a photo of a diagram from my lecture handout into the other photo. I've tried using collage apps but the resolution of the photo decreases very quickly.

    Any help is appreciated Cheers

Screen protector vs Apple Pencil Nib

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 01:26 AM PDT

Hi everyone, recently got my ipad 2 months back and have been using it for note taking almost everyday. I have a matte screen protector that I use to make it seem like im writing on paper, but this means that my nib has unfortunately eroded to the point that I can see the metal part on it :-/ to those who face the same issue, what do you do? Do you sacrifice the lifespan of the nib to have a better writing experience or do you change your screen protector to something that won't wear down the nib so fast?

New iPad Pro on the way soon?

    Posted: 31 Oct 2019 06:16 AM PDT

I have the opportunity to buy a new 12 inch iPad pro for work. But there's been rumours of a possible upgrade happening about now.

Does anyone have any knowledge of something being released in the next two weeks?
