- Is there a way that I 'm missing that allows you to play 4k google play movies on appletv?

| Posted: 01 Sep 2019 01:12 PM PDT I bought a 4K TV a few months ago but still had the pre-4K Apple TV for watching whatever so I could only ever really watch in 1080. Upgraded to the AppleTV 4K and got a few movies in 4K to watch. This is my first actual 4K viewing and the difference really is incredible. I've watched a few YouTube comparison videos and they've mostly commented that the difference from 1080 to 4K isn't as readily apparent as the jump from SD to HD was. That's true, but there's still a brilliantly noticeable difference and my mind is blown. The colours are a lot more vibrant and stand out a fair bit more, and you really can notice some really minute details on faces and stuff like that that maybe you wouldn't really pick up on before. My none-4K in the kitchen is on beta 8 and seems fine but, it has been fine for a few betas. Our 4K in the living room is our heavy user. One of the downsides is there's considerable banding in dark areas, apparently something linked to the Shield itself and not to the Steam Link app (using Moonlight leads to the same problem). There's heaps of threads on GeForce and Shield TV forums talking about the same issue. Does anyone know if banding is also an issue on the Apple TV 4K? Of negative, I'll probably pull the trigger and replace my Shield. I believe streaming performance should be the same as well? Thanks! [link] [comments]  | ||
| Screen Freezes (sort of) & Have to Restart Posted: 01 Sep 2019 03:59 PM PDT A couple of times a week The screen will freeze up after I come out of an app. The app in the top left hand corner will continue to work as if there is no problem but I can't navigate to any other app from the home screen. Only iTunes content seems to get caught up with a spinning wheel before it plays. Any idea what to do? Already reset it and played around with quick start and other settings to no avail. On the TV app on my phone if I looked up a movie or tv show it would give me the option to rent/buy or if it was available on one of my subscriptions services from cable or streaming apps it would give you the option of watching it there. It seems on some shows it works and on others where I know the show its there it wont show up, any way to make it work right? I have linked my subscriptions to iPhone and Apple TV. I mostly use Netflix, Youtube and Spotify on my TV, will the Apple TV offer me more useful applications/ features that I am likely to start using and justify the purchase? Posted: 01 Sep 2019 10:40 AM PDT Hi, I am not currently using the beta but I just recently purchased an Apple TV and it's known to have a common problem with causing "pink screens" while using 60hz 4K Dolby vision. I'm hoping TVOS 13 will fix these problems. Has Apple fixed these "pink screen" Dolby vision incompatibilities in TVOS 13? Update: Some clarification, if you haven't used the Apple TV for awhile and switch to a different source and then switch back, a pink screen will show and you have to restart the Apple TV for the pink screen to disappear.
