| Video Quality Apple TV versus Sony built in Android TV Posted: 25 Sep 2019 11:45 PM PDT I wanted an Apple TV for a long time but since my Sony TV has built in Android TV I did not have a reason. Finally decided to get one ahead of the Apple TV + service and I was checking the quality between Netflix on the Android TV and on the Apple TV. The HDR content seems to look better on the Apple TV. Better black contrast, my TV is not oled, so the contrast its not perfect. Is this possible or Am I just imagine things ? [link] [comments]  |

Under tvOS12 I just had to switch HDMI and then press any button on my TV remote to wake up the Apple TV 4k, now I have to turn on the AppleTV using it's remote and then I can control it with my TV's remote. | PSA for separate profiles for kids on tvOS 13 Posted: 25 Sep 2019 02:00 PM PDT So I added my sons iCloud information as an additional profile. Through screen time I have his profile set for only clean lyrics on Apple Music. Seems it doesn't transfer to the Apple TV though - it's allowing playback of explicit content. I even tried setting up restrictions when having his account up on the Apple TV and it removes explicit content but when I switch back to my own account everything is still on lockdown. The same movie is in these shares. As a result, the movie would show up multiple times with the same poster each pointing to each share's file. Is this normal? I was hoping Infuse would be intelligent enough to merge so that only one poster would show up allowing me to pick the Plex share of choice. Any fix that would address this? [link] [comments]  |
| Solution for duplicate user accounts Posted: 25 Sep 2019 02:45 PM PDT After the beta season I had three user accounts on my Apple TV that were connected to the same iCloud account. Toggling the switch in iOS 13 to remove the account (home settings > user > show on Apple TV) did not resolve the issue, but did cut it down to just two. I have resolved this issue by doing the following: 1. Turn off the switch in Home Settings under 'your name' > show on Apple TV 2. On your Apple TV, log out of iCloud. (This will remove all Home app created profiles) 3. Restart your Apple TV 4. Turn on the toggle 'Show on Apple TV' in the home app. This resolved my issue, I hope it resolves it for others too! — Thanks /u/ozenberg for suggesting to post this resolution here! Now to turn on the apple tv you have to hit the menu button, prior to the update you could use the touch pad or any button as well. | How to change what shows up in What to Watch Posted: 25 Sep 2019 12:22 PM PDT I added a profile for my wife and then cleared watch history under my profile after yesterday's TvOS 13 update. I now have an Up Next section customized to my shows and sports teams. What To Watch however is still recommending shows and movies that my wife watches. | Issues with Airplay on TvOS 13? Posted: 25 Sep 2019 02:05 PM PDT Has anyone else run into issues using airplay on tvOS13? Specifically from an iPad? I have a website set up with a stream of a live tv channel, which I access on my iPad and then airplay to the ATV4 through the airplay menu under now playing - this worked fine for the latest year under ios12. Since the tvOS/iOS upgrade, whenever I access the site on my iPad and try to airplay, I get sound but no video from The ATV4. If I access the site through my iPhone and airplay it, it works fine. I've tried resetting, turning off wifi and going through options, but I'm still only getting sound. When I full screen the video in Safari, there is no option in the video player for AirPlay, only in the Now Playing menu. Any advice? [link] [comments]  |

Signed in and it downloaded all of the apps and games, but most games seem to be starting from scratch even though we had saved progress (levels, unlocks etc). Definitely signed into gamecenter. | Recently Updated Apps - Can't Connect to The App Store Posted: 25 Sep 2019 11:14 AM PDT What did apple do with the idea of updating apps. I go over to the recently updated tab and it says can't get to the App Store. I can get there through other means, but nothing updated. For example, there is a Hulu update. I can't update it through the recently updated tab, so I go search for it on the app store another way. I'm able to find it but when I click update, it will go through the motions but not actually update. I've never been a fan of how Apple TV does it's updates, but I think they might have made it worse with this TVOS 13. [link] [comments]  |
| TVos 13: Youtube App now treating everything as Dolby Vision HDR Posted: 25 Sep 2019 04:17 PM PDT I have dolby vision enabled with frame and range matching. After the update, the youtube app is treating any and all youtube content as DV HDR. It didn't used to be like this, and the other apps are flagging content correctly. Anyone else notice this? No, I dont want to set it up as 4k SDR with rate and range matching because my TV (Sony/Marantz avr) never sends DV content if I set it up like that. | TvOS 13.1: Adding Family Members in Home Grayed Out Posted: 25 Sep 2019 08:40 AM PDT Hmm, when I go into the Home app and try to turn family members on for Apple TV access, I find the option "Show Me On Apple TV" to be grayed out. Does anyone know why this is? I can add their Apple ID in the accounts on the AppleTV itself, but even on that screen it informs me that I should be able to add members with the Home app. There's also a statement above that says Pending Accessories Move your iPhone in close range of pending accessories to connect them. Once a connection is made, the accessory can be used by this person." I'm not sure what this means. My family members are all members of the household with access to all of the devices, and just for grins and giggles I've taken my wife's iPhone and hovered it near the Apple TV on the off chance it would make me look like anything but an idiot.
