I have a couple of previous generation Apple TVs that I kept in a box somewhere in the basement. | [Help] Setting up Apple TV 4K as Homekit Hub Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:19 AM PDT Recently started to invest in smart home products and have been choosing those that are supported by Homekit. I realized down the road, that to remotely control these products, I would need to set up a Homekit hub. For example, if I want to say 'Hey Siri, open front door'; I would need a hub. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, I have an Apple TV 4K and wanted to set this as the hub. The thing is, the Apple TV doesn't use my regular iCloud account and instead has it's own dedicated account. Reason being -- I use shared albums a lot and I just invite this dedicated account to an album so this way I can control what photos are available on the Apple TV versus my entire iCloud library. My phone has a different icloud account. I noticed in the Home app that I can invite another user to my 'Home'. Can I invite the Apple TV user and set up hub that way? Problem is, if I'm outside, unless I'm logged into the apple tv icloud account, I won't be able to use siri commands right? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 30 Aug 2019 08:50 AM PDT I have an apple tv4k connected directly to samsung 65" tv, with optical out from tv to soundbar. I noticed that when I have 4k enabled with match content and frame rate enable the audio from the apple tv is extremely low. I have to put the volume on the sound bar up to around 70 to hear decent sound. When I use my amazon fire tv4k (which is hooked up to an hdmi switch) connected to the tv, and optical out to sound bar, the audio is much better, I'll have the sound maybe around 30-40 and rarely have to go above that level. This does not seem to be isolate to a particular streaming service or anything like that, as I can be watching something on dtvn, or netflix, yt, and have the same volume issues with the apple tv4k. Anyone else experience this issue, or have any solutions? As a heads up, I cannot run the hdmi through the soundbar because the soundbar does not output in 4k. [link] [comments]  |

| Anyone else having issues with CNBC? Posted: 30 Aug 2019 09:29 AM PDT It keeps on kicking me out of the app I deleted it and re-downloaded it. Nothing I have WiFi and put the Apple TV to sleep for a little as well. Any ideas as to what it could be? (I just bought the Apple TV 3 days ago so I'm new to this) [link] [comments]  |
