    Reddit for iPad’s YouTube Problem

    Posted: 09 May 2019 10:16 AM PDT

I use the official Reddit for iPad app and it just blows my mind that YouTube embeds can't go full screen. Even more frustrating you can't even click the video to open it in the YouTube app. I imagine there must be a reason, but this flaw is so insanely stupid to me. Am I just dumb for using the native Reddit app? Is there another client that handles YouTube links better?

Are iPad pros still being sold bent?

    Posted: 09 May 2019 01:19 PM PDT

Rewind ~3 months and it seemed like every third post on this subreddit was regarding a bent iPad Pro. I'm on the fence about purchasing a 11" iPad Pro w/ LTE however I don't want to constantly be worried over whether it's bending or not in a bag.

Are they still being sold bent out of the box?

How is your iPad Pro holding up?

I travel a lot through work so I'm weary about its durability in and out of bags.

    Thanks folks!

To-do app that supports Apple Pencil?

    Posted: 09 May 2019 10:08 AM PDT

I have an 11" iPad Pro and have been trying to convince myself to go "full Pro" and take notes on it, etc. but the big thing I use extremely often is a to-do list. I know I can just write things down on a note page, but I like to be able to press a button to check them off, like in other to-do apps, that way it only leaves me with open tasks and where I can also go back and click "show completed" if necessary.

I've currently been just writing to-dos in a note page and then crossing them out, but this obviously makes it cluttered and then makes it really hard to sometimes to see what was completed.

    TIA!e

Tapping the progress bar instead of sliding possible?

    Posted: 09 May 2019 11:48 AM PDT

Is it possible to tap the progress bar in apps like Spotify, YouTube, Netflix, ...? I find it really inconvenient to to always slide on it from the current point, instead of just tapping where the song or movie is supposed to go.

Is there a solution forward that?

So I bought an old 1st Gen iPad...

I bought the iPad from a friend for $25 USD, they go for about $40 - $50 online, and since the iPad stop receiving updates YEARS ago it's difficult to find a use for said iPad. What can I do with it?

Follow up : text to speech for proofing large docs

    Posted: 09 May 2019 07:46 AM PDT

Nobody had any suggestions for my previous question, but did get some up votes so assuming some folks were interested.

After a lot of trial and error I found a 95‰ solution: Natur Speech. Works great! It doesn't support split screen 😕 but if I need to pause, it starts reading again a sentence back. So you don't lose your place in the the second it takes to flick between apps, but also doesn't rewind a whole paragraph/page/document like some other products.

Loving the 2018 11" Pro, not loving the folio keyboard.

    Posted: 09 May 2019 05:30 AM PDT

I'm glad it has protection for the back, but the design seems clunky to me. I had the 10.5" pro and the keyboard, and I liked the the keyboard folded up under. It didn't touch the screen, and if I was reading or drawing on the iPad, it was still folded under. Now, if I want to use Procreate or take notes with the pencil, I've got keyboard keys down on my lap.

    Anyone else kinda underwhelmed?

Is there a custom ios keyboard solely for “trackpad mode” to use with keyboard folio?

    Posted: 09 May 2019 09:45 AM PDT

When using the keyboard folio in text editing, I like to popup the software keyboard and use the 2-fingers trackpad mode. However it takes over bottom half of the screen. Is there a custom ios keyboard which take less screen space? The ideal custom keyboard would be just 1-2 rows of blank space or even some custom shortcut?

    Best App for Home Layouts?

Hoping to put my brand new iPad Pro through some home remodeling projects. Are there any AR apps that you'd recommend? I'm also looking to make a blueprint of my home, if that's possible.

For visual impairment: pro 12.9 (2nd gen) or refurbished pro 10.5 ?

    Posted: 09 May 2019 06:15 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I have a kind of visual impairment that makes it hard for me to read small fonts for too long. However, a lot of the readings I have in college come in pdf, so I can't increase the font size, I can only zoom in up to the limit of the screen size.

I need to be reading in portrait mode, with the tablet on vertical, because when it is on the horizontal it quickly gets uncomfortable for me (too much movement on the page apparently tires my vision). Due to budget issues, I am considering the two options above.

I am sure the 12.9 screen is much larger than the 10.5, I just wonder if the difference on the width is significant enough to make me go with a much bigger tablet. What do you guys think? I tried to find the screen measures, but I only found the diagonal.

Do you know the actual measures? If not, from your experience, those the width seem to be much different when using it vertically? Other than that, are those tablets much different in terms of processing power, apple pencil, etc? I don't need to use it as a computer, nor to watch movies or play games. It will be mostly for reading pdf's and making small comments, highlighting things, etc.

    Thanks in advance

Is anyone with 2018 iPad Pro experiencing loose USB C port?

    Posted: 09 May 2019 12:16 AM PDT

Anyone else having similar issues? The USB C charge port seems loose. When plugged in, there is more give/movement in the port than I would like there to be. Trying to see if this is normal, or if I'm going to have to repair this in the future.

My Experience With The 2018 iPad Pro So Far

    Posted: 08 May 2019 09:20 PM PDT

Hello r/ipad! Just wanted to share my experience so far with both the 11inch and 12.9 inch iPad Pro.

So last week I went to the store and could not decide on what size iPad to purchase. I pulled out my credit card and walked out with both the 11 and 12.9 models.

    So first the 11 inch:

I absolutely love love LOVE the size of this guy! Before, I owned the 10.5 inch and every now and again I would think to myself that I wanted a larger screen. I never thought the 10.5 was small, but always liked the idea of the larger 12.9

The portability of this thing is even better than the 10.5! It feels lighter and is smaller in overall size.

    Now the 12.9 inch:

The speakers on this bad boy will blow you away. They are that nice. The screen is AMAZING to play games on. Seriously sucked going back to the 11 inch to play games on.

So know I will explain why I returned the 12.9. It's just too big. I got an iPad mainly to intake media. Not for any "pro" purposes. I also have a MacBook Pro to get any "real" work done.

The 12.9 is just too big! So if you plan on using your ipad on a desk, go the big boy 12.9 route. If you actually plan on taking your pad out the house, go the 11 inch route.

If you have any questions please comment, thanks!

Any tips on Keyboard shortcut not working on my gym's wifi log-in page? I watch movies on the bike at the gym and sometimes have to log in w/email a few times. My initials autofill the email address everywhere except the gym's sign-in page. Maybe autofill is locked out for "security"? Thanks!

Hardware difference between WiFi and wifi+cellular iPads?

Should I buy an iPad for digital art? (Cannot afford iPad pro or Wacom)

    Posted: 08 May 2019 11:06 PM PDT

I am a student and I currently cannot afford to buy an iPad pro or a Wacom Cintiq. I make fairly good digital art on apps like Adobe Draw but want to improve myself and become skilled at Procreate and Sketchbook. So I was wondering if I should buy an iPad with the apple pencil. Is the difference between iPad and iPad pro too big or can I achieve the same by buying an iPad? Which one has the most value for money? I thought about buying a Wacom but I couldn't spend so much money on a device that although is industry standards, it isn't portable like the iPad and I cannot perform other tasks like reading or taking notes in it. Please give me some advice.

Buffing our scuffs on the chamfered edges?

    Posted: 08 May 2019 11:14 PM PDT

    Hi guys,

I somehow managed to pick up a couple of songs on the chamfered edge of my iPad near the charging port. I don't really care about the cosmetic damage, as it still works perfectly fine, but the chips in the aluminum caused that area to have some rather sharp edges where the damage is. Since that's typically where I hold the iPad, it's now uncomfortable since the jagged edges dig into my palm.

I assume other people have had this issue and sanded it down or something, so does anyone have any recommendations on what to use to smooth it out?

    Thanks in advance!
