[Advice] Anyone experiencing flexgate in India?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2019 08:27 PM PST

I bought the 2016 MacBook Pro w/ TB on December 2016. 4 months ago I started experiencing the stage light issues and soon the backlight stopped working at a certain angle.

Since there are no Apple Stores in India, I have been going around authorized Apple service centers trying to find a solution. This happened after my warranty was out so there is no free replacement. It costs around 55k INR which is about 1/3rd the price of my MacBook, I can even get an average Windows laptop for this price. I'm just disappointed at Apple. A lot.

Anyone else experiencing this in India? Have you done anything about it? Also my friend is ready to take this to an Apple Store in America, will I be able to get it replaced for free there?

Is the Touch Bar useful to a “pro” user?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2019 02:20 PM PST

Hello! My 2012 MacBook Pro is slowly dying and this year will probably be the year when I have to get a new one. Because of the tasks that I am doing, I want to get a powerful MacBook Pro, but this also means that I have to get it with the Touch Bar.

So have you found the Touch Bar useful or does it rather slow you down? I fear that it will be in the way.

My usual (heavy) apps that I use: Sketch, Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut, etc.

    Thank you in advance!

Interested in purchasing a Macbook pro. Should I wait?

    Hey guys,

I was interested in purchasing a Macbook pro sometime next week. My concern is that there might be a new version coming out soon.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any new Macbook pro's coming out soon, or could just provide their input before I drop the money. Thanks!

Convince me the MBP is good

Upgrading my daily driver laptop from a 2015 macbook air to ???

Was originally considering the 2018 MBP (the entry level one) but after reading lots of negative response to the butterfly keyboard and a general feeling that the quality of apple laptops has deteriorated I am considering a lenovo thinkpad t480 or x1 carbon instead.

Convince me the MBP is still the way to go.

    External Keyboard Problem

    Posted: 08 Jan 2019 09:10 AM PST

    Hi all!

So, I have a MacBook Pro, 15" 2016, and I'm having a problem with an external keyboard.

I use that keyboard on my Desktop (not a mac) and I've never had any problems, but this is just plain weird. When I connected it for the first time, I configured it by pressing the key to the right of the left Shift, and that was that, but the keys are all mixed up. Like, when I press the key 'a' it prints out an 'h'.

I tried configuring it again, several times, and always chose U.S ANSI keyboard and European Keyboard (I think that was an option) and the results were the same. I am using a blank brand dongle I bought off amazon. That could be the problem, but it would be really weird.

I also tried contacting Apple, but for some reason the website says I am not elligible for support, whatever the reason...

    Anyone had the same problem?

    Thanks!

P.S: I'm not sure if this kind of posts are allowed. Please, if I broke any subreddit rules, tell me!
