Whenever I try to connect to my AirPods it lets me connect, but it says "Not your AirPods" every time and it bugs me that it shows his name. Is there any way to fix this? [link] [comments]  |

| iPhone 6 Plus not updating to ios 12.1.2. Posted: 08 Jan 2019 07:34 PM PST Hello all. Since Jan. 1st I have not had any service at all. It just says "searching" to the left of the wifi signal. I've looked up solutions for this, and one of the main ones is making sure my phone is updated to the last iOS. Yesterday, I checked, and it wasn't updated. I clicked "download and install" the update, but it's stuck on "Update requested..." I've tried searching for the update on the storage settings, it's not there (though I've noticed some of the info it shows there appears to be wrong/missing. WhatsApp's info is just a bunch of numbers). I've also tried updating with iTunes on a laptop but it says my iPhone is updated to iOS 12.2..not giving me any other options. I dunno what the difference is. It works for me. Anyways, the annoying auto update thing popped up as I was hitting the home button. iOS 12.something is already downloaded but I don't want it. | Corrosion on lightning cable (and maybe lightning port) Posted: 08 Jan 2019 06:44 PM PST I currently own an iPhone XS Max, and was recently around a bit of water, so I suspect this could be the issue. I thought I had dried out the entire phone already, but when I went to plug it in, after a while the lightning cable seemed to be burned out a little bit and slightly green. I took a flashlight to the lightning port on my iPhone as well, and it looks like there is some corrosion in the port as well. I am wondering whether I need to take this in to Verizon/Apple Store to get this fixed/replaced or if I could use some rubbing alcohol on both to solve this? Any help is appreciated! | Mid-2012 MacBook boots to Windows but not OSX Posted: 08 Jan 2019 03:04 PM PST While using Windows, I attempted to restart in OSX using the boot camp menu but it never booted up. Did a hard reset and wanted to see if it would boot up naturally in OSX but after the Apple icon appeared with the loading bar, it would just shut off. Tried booting it up again on the Windows partition and it's completely fine and I run into no issues using the computer. Tried poking about in recovery mode and the OSX partition is greyed out and cannot be repaired using the built in tool. Is there any way I can access my data on the messed up partition? Could I do anything from the Window's side to maybe fix this issue? Any help would really be appreciated. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 08 Jan 2019 05:11 PM PST I'll try to make this simple. I dropped my Mac pretty bad and a file with a question mark showed up upon starting up. It wasn't showing up in utility so I tried getting a new cable to the motherboard. The hard drive showed up in the utility and my accounts actually showed up but when I log in a "NO" symbol shows up. When I use first aid on my hard drive it diagnosis " the volume could not be verified " what does this mean and what can I do? I also have two questions...

| Latest Mac mini 2018: Need help troubleshooting a display issue Posted: 08 Jan 2019 01:22 PM PST I'm having issues with my display setup. I have a MacMini 2018 with Core i7/16GB RAM/512GB SSD running latest MacOS 10.14.2. I have a primary 2k display (DELL U2715H) and a secondary 1080p display (AOC 2243W) both connected via USBC: 2k via DP to USBC and 1080p via HDMI to USBC cables During the initial setup and a few reboots both displays worked fine. I made sure to get a clean install to avoid any inherited glitches. As soon as I performed a cold boot after a complete shutdown none of the displays were initialized. System stayed with black screen for a while, I couldn't figure what's up so I restarted it via power button. Both displays come up in recovery mode, but on normal boot - no luck. It looks like reconnecting the display makes it work, but I can't be sure as I didn't test it extensively (not a viable fix anyway). I had to switch my 2k display over to a simple HDMI connection - that seemed to resolve the boot issue but screws up color profile settings. During boot time the display connected via an HDMI cable comes on, I enter my credentials, systems decrypts and after the boot is complete second display comes on. I also get glitches with cursor disappearing. Can someone please confirm on their machine if USBC displays are being initialized, especially when the disk is encrypted? My original plan was to buy a USBC enabled screen like LG 27UK850-W. Now I'm having doubts if it will even work. Any advice is also appreciated. EDIT: after a bunch of reboots I noticed that the screen positioning is not saved, and sometimes USBC screen is picked over HDMI, with USBC becoming the main screen and display positions getting swapped. | Posted: 08 Jan 2019 08:12 AM PST This is a repost from last month. I have a crash report but it's lengthy. I have an iMac Pro with two external LG monitors, a 5k and 4K. It had worked great for 8 months or so then the Mac started crashing. I went though the channels with Apple and ended up with a new computer. Plugged both monitors in and the same crash happened. I'm getting the white question mark folder on boot. When holding down Option+R on startup I get taken straight to Internet Recovery. I can then select my wifi, enter my password and the system seems to do something, but then restarts and I'm taken back to the white question mark folder. Is my MacBook screwed? If so, it is outrageous that a 2.5 year old machine has as SSD failure! [link] [comments]  |
| Photos application keeps quitting unexpectedly on MacBook Posted: 08 Jan 2019 04:36 PM PST I'm not sure if this is where I should post this but as of recently, every time I try to open up the Photos application on my Mac it closes and quits almost immediately upon opening. The message that pops up states that "Photos quit unexpectedly while using the FaceCoreEmbedded plug-in." I have tried doing google searches but have yet to find a solution to my problem. I have attempted turning my computer on and off, creating a new library, as well as attempted to repair both libraries. I am running the application on an Early 2014 MacBook air on version 10.11.6. | Mac mini versus MBP for heavy, daily use? Posted: 08 Jan 2019 04:00 PM PST Hi all: I have a 2011 MBP that has been a workhorse for me. I'm going to upgrade and going about deciding what to do. I work a desk job and use my computer routinely for 8-12 hours a day, often plugged into an external monitor. I'm an organizational consultant, so work consists of lots of Excel/Google Docs, word processing, too much Twitter, and several different non-intensive processes running. No video editing, no photoshop, etc. Would the new Mac Mini or a new 13' MBP be a better purchase for long term, intensive use? Have laptop batteries progressed to the point that they can handle the type of use I'm describing? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 08 Jan 2019 03:10 PM PST So I've recently upgraded iCloud storage to share with my family. I understand that if I delete photos from my device, they delete from iCloud. My question is: when I inevitably get a new phone, how does it all work? I have to factory reset my current phone to resell it. Do I just sign out of my Apple ID and turn off iCloud Photos before I reset? If I sign out of my Apple ID and do a factory reset, are my photos still in iCloud storage? When I do get a new phone, will all of my iCloud photos already be there or do I have to download them?? Any info from experience iCloud users would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!
