    Welcome to our weekly stickied App thread! This is a new idea so please feel free to offer your feedback about this thread or the subreddit in general in the comments. As usual if you have a serious issue with the subreddit please contact the moderators directly.

    This thread is intended to help members of the /r/iphone community get informed about new apps that are out there. App developers may also use this thread to make users aware that their new app exists.

    Please sort comments by 'new' to find questions/information that would otherwise be buried.

    In this thread you can ask any iOS app related question that you may have. Anyone may offer advice on any issue.

    Two examples of potential questions could be; "How do I learn to code an app?", or "How is app pricing determined?"

    Developers, please include as much information about your app as possible, including size, price, release info, and anything else people request.

    Finally, please stick to reddiquette and keep your comments on topic and substantive. Thanks for participating.

    AirPods or Apple stock headsets won't fit in my ears. They will fall out as soon as I'm not vertical or moving my head fast. It's a one size that sadly doesn't fit all. I have seen options to add stickers to them, add a case around them to stick inside the ear, but these options will require me to remove the solution each time the AirPods goes back into the case. Yet, the Find My AirPods are genius. I also like the battery display on the iPhone. Anyone with simular problems? Someone with a genius solution to this?

    Nightstand game on point

    I have been using the iPhone 7 for about 2 years now and I forgot to get the extended warranty on this one (stupid move), so it was out of warranty too. I recently had some issue where I could just get no service on my phone. Turns out that a certain model of the iPhone 7 has a failure in the logic board and they're repairing/replacing it for free. Now I was happy but also worried. Knowing the apple service centres here, they're all douches. We don't have official centres here, they're all resellers or authorised centres. So I walk in and show them the issue and they were clueless about the program, I had to show it to them online. Then after a bit of convincing they take my phone and very subtly told me you have a lot of scratches and one dent on your phone so it may not be covered (I was reckless with my phone, learnt from my mistakes). They then call me to tell me that they're going to replace it and there will be no cost involved. I was delighted! I basically got a new phone after using one for 2 years, with no scratches and no dents. Was planning to upgrade next year, but maybe I will just hold onto this one for another year now.

    Best way to export iMessage conversations? Mom just passed tonight and would like to save the messages we shared

    As the title says, my mom passed earlier this evening and went back to read our messages however my phone deletes after thirty days. Her phone does not. I do have access to her phone. Is there a way to export our messages to keep as memories or the best way is to screen shot all of them?

    Statistics of battery drain on iOS

    I have recently worked with Apple Support on solving battery drain on my iPhone 7 and I know many of you have this problem too.. They acknowledged the problem and admitted it happens on devices with iOS 12 including the following minor updates but refuse to admit it's a common problem rather than 'a very rare occurrence'. So far they blame it on a hardware issue and offered to change my iPhone for a new unit but many of my friends and colleagues have this problem on different iPhones (both new and old).

    I would like you to do a simple test that I did with them. Charge your phone in the evening to 100 %, unplug it before you go to sleep and write down the time, keep the iPhone without being charged inactive all night. When you wake up, check the time and the battery and write it down.

    Keep your WiFi connected if possible during the test, mobile data enabled, Bluetooth on, Personal Hotspot off, Do Not disturb can be on.

    In the morning, count how many percent you lost during the night including the time difference and post your results in comments.

    Using the statistics, I will determine if it's a rare or common issue. The more users participating, the better, of course.

    tl;dr Charge your iPhone to 100 % in the evening, unplug it before going to sleep and leave it be. Check the battery and time in the morning and how many percent you lost in how many hours.

    Pixel’s new Nightsight kills my Xs

    I was just playing around with my sons's original Pixel XL with the new Nightsight update and it is truly amazing. It makes my iPhone Xs feel like a flip phone at best. My pics were completely black where the Pixel shots looked almost like daytime pics. Apple has some work to do in this area for sure.

    Using a dual nano sim tray on a single sim xs max

    I was wondering if my Xs max that came with the standard single nano simcard tray would be compatible to use the dual nano simcard slot that the asian models come with. Im asking this because E-Sim is unavailable in my country. I would love to just order a dual nano sim card tray for my xs max and use 2 sim cards

    Anyone wish Apple released a fluoroelastomer iPhone case?

    I was reminded from the other post about the silicone case how much of a pain in the ass it was getting it in and out of pockets. Not to mention silicone being a dust and lint magnet as well.

    But the Apple Watch sports bands, which uses fluoroelastomer, feel amazing on wrist, are extremely durable, and I think would make amazing lightweight cases.

    I really wish Apple released a slim fitting fluoroelastomer case to replace their entire silicone line. I wouldn't even mind paying an extra tenner or so to get one. The material is just so much better than any other silicone I've ever touched. So good that the three third party silicone bands I got from Amazon almost immediately went into the rubbish bin because the fall off in quality was so steep.

    iPhone Xs battery drain overnight

    Returning the iPhone XS

    It's a good phone, but I prefer Android personally.

    Pros:

    • Apps are better but not as good as people say, not a whole lot better than android. (For me, it was just Duolingo where I noticed a huge difference)
    • The phone feels premium in hand and heavy because of the stainless steel.
    • Camera: Video recording is fantastic, and pictures look good as well, easily the best camera on a smartphone I have ever used. This year iPhones are fantastic! Top 3 for sure.
    • Software support and Apple stores being everywhere (Canada)
    • The smoothest experience I have had on a phone so far.

    Cons:

    • The simplicity, I seriously thought that I would not miss customizing my phone. Never had an iPhone before and always had either a Samsung or Sony phone. I would not say I like the simplicity, and in iOS I am stuck with it whereas I can design it to the way I want in Android.
    • Notifications, they are better than what I read on Reddit, e.g., group notifications are pretty decent but still nowhere near to Android's notifications.
    • iOS, it looks a bit outdated compared to the superb hardware.
    • The notch on the iPhone XS specifically, might not affect the Max, but for me at least I did not enjoy the notch at all. I couldn't get used it, and it's merely an eyesore for me.
    • The lack of a headphone jack:
    • I thought I wouldn't miss this so much because I use my 1000XM3 headphones for music etc.. However, I have some excellent earbuds and not being able to plug them in is a pain (for me)
    • The lack of a fast charger.
    • Siri, haven't tried the shortcuts but Google Assistant is way better for me.

    Conclusion:

    Just because I am returning the iPhone XS doesn't mean it is a bad phone, not at all. It's a fantastic phone with amazing hardware and good software depending on whom you ask. The camera is superb, and I can understand the appeal to iPhones however it is just not for me. I have always been an Android guy, and maybe this switch was too soon for me. Thanks for reading btw.     XS Max screen scratched

    Has anyone else noticed their XS Max getting scratched easily?

    I've had mine just over two weeks now, and there are already a couple of light scratches appearing on the screen, and I'm a bit of a freak with how careful I am with it so not really sure how I've managed it.

    They'r really light, you can't see them when the screen is on, just concerned with how easy it has marked compared to my previous phones.

    iPhone Xs and Galileo

    As mentioned by Apple Insider , my iPhone Xs is compatible with Galileo. I'm located in Europe (Belgium). Compatible doesn't necessary mean using it.

    Does my iPhone Xs currently use GPS, or Galileo, or both?

    Is there any setting in iOS about this? Can I verify what system my iPhone is using? Thanks!

    Why do I have this subtle line on my phones control centre

    XS/Max/XR LTE/WiFi Only- just type “yes” or “no”. Yes if you have had LTE/WiFi issues and No if you haven’t had any (and I mean actual issues- not one disconnect).

    I haven't had issues really and many people are saying this is blown out of proportion so figured this would give us at least a good idea of our community here. My friend is having issues though, so I do think some people are. Also- By "yes" I mean serious issues with WiFi or LTE. No one disconnect, or low bars once etc. actual ongoing issues. Plus we haven't really done one of these since the 12.1 update. If you had issues, but it is better with update (or beta) please mention that.

    Best games for iPhone that ARE NOT “pay to win”

    Would be nice to have some newer games on my Xs Max. Only ever played Clash Royale and Clash of Clans. Stopped playing both when I got my new phone as the games seem to be dying out.

    Walmart Black Friday XS Max

    Anybody know how the process of getting a phone at Walmart is? I'm interested in getting the XS Max (AT&T Next) for my wife so I can get the $300 gift card so I in turn, can get a new iPad Pro.

    From what I understand, they are going to start scheduling appointments at 6pm on Thursday next week, and the appointments begin at 8pm. So, assuming there's no line, I get there at 6pm, make an appt for the first available at 8pm, come back at 8pm and add the phone to my account, activate the phone, then receive the $300 GC?

    Is it my iphone 8 battery or any new shady biz from apple?

    My iphone 8 warranty expiring in a week, for the last 2 weeks im noticing quite fast battery drain? Im on ios 12.0.1 and havnt updated my phone in atleast 2 months.

    Right now battery health is 89% and i feel the same as i did with iphone 6

    Any solutions?

    Is Zd/a the code for refurbished or replacement iphone?

    Hi guys, I live in France and I recently found a lot of website, including amazon ( 3rd parties ofc), sell iphone 8

    Zd/a for around 600 euros instead of 685 by Apple. I wonder if they are truly new?

    On the web I found that Zd/a = France, Monaco, German,.... but my old 5s was f/a. Did Apple dumb that region

    code and replace with zd/a or the latter is actually used to replace defect iphone that are still under warranty?

    Did they change something with the notifications in the last 24 hours?

    Was there any update which changed the way notifications are displayed on the lockscreen in the last 24 hours? I could swear that yesterday evening my iPhone XS showed the name of the contact which send me a message via Whatsapp on the lockscreen. Just not the Message. Now all I get is 1 Notification in a chat and the name of the sender is not shown anymore.
