    Welcome to our weekly stickied App thread! This is a new idea so please feel free to offer your feedback about this thread or the subreddit in general in the comments. As usual if you have a serious issue with the subreddit please contact the moderators directly.

    This thread is intended to help members of the /r/iphone community get informed about new apps that are out there. App developers may also use this thread to make users aware that their new app exists.

    Please sort comments by 'new' to find questions/information that would otherwise be buried.

    In this thread you can ask any iOS app related question that you may have. Anyone may offer advice on any issue.

    Two examples of potential questions could be; "How do I learn to code an app?", or "How is app pricing determined?"

    Developers, please include as much information about your app as possible, including size, price, release info, and anything else people request.

    Finally, please stick to reddiquette and keep your comments on topic and substantive. Thanks for participating.

    150MB download limit on Mobile Data should be removed!

    Atleast we should have an option to decide if we want to proceed after 150MB.

    We have come to a point where most of the things are done on our phones itself and this kind of spoils the fun for me.

    Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Halide gets a lot of love here (deservedly so, great developers and app), but Focos has been my go-to camera app for portrait mode for a while now. The update makes it a powerful tool as you have much more customization to the depth map than on Halide, and you can edit in app rather than having to edit in Photos app with Halide (which actually doesn't always work, kinda buggy). Anyways, give it a shot. If you need to shoot RAW though, stick with Halide. I can post some example images in a bit once I get out of the house.

    I was planning to - for the first time - switch to android with the release of the pixel 3. However after seeing reviews on how crappy the pix 3 were (and how poorly designed) - I decided to stick with the iphone. Yeah i'm not a notch person but nothing was going to change and i wanted to upgrade my plain jane iphone 7+. The ios still looks bland and samey (and i hope they will add more customization down the line! Widgets don't really cut it...) but the XS Max screen is huge and beautiful and i love watching youtube and netflix and playing games on this thing. Animoji is a brilliant Mii copycat with excellent face tracking (even tracks movement of your pupils!). I've seen complaints of the Face ID but man... I feel it is an upgrade from Touch ID. Face ID is just faster and more convenient. Sometimes your fingers are greased or dirty and touch id doesn't respond very well, but face id works more accurately than touch id most of the time... except in the dark. One thing apple needs to improve on is their settings menu... there are just too many settings and they need to be condensed and better organized! Half the time I'm looking for a certain setting for the phone. Brightness and privacy and passcode settings for example should be clumped with the General settings. Either way, I am loving this phone!

    iPhone XS Max - LTE issues

    Hi guys,

    Long post, but I have been having a ton of LTE issues since getting my XS Max on launch day. I'm located in NYC and my phone is on AT&T.

    TL;DR: XS Max has horrible LTE cell reception. Been in touch with apple. No answers. Now it seems no one will help me or acknowledge my problem at all.

    • I bought my phone on launch day 9/21
    • upgraded from a 7+
    • no change in plan or carrier
    • immediately noticed poor LTE performance ~1-3mbps DL speeds, phone struggling to load webpages and emails etc
    • 9/25 went to Genius Bar. they told me to wait for a software update
    • 9/26 I was contacted by Apple who were replying to a post I made on the Apple support forums
    • they had me install logging profiles on my phone and generate sysdiagnose files and send them along with screenshots back to apple
    • radio silence
    • multiple follow ups with apple senior advisers
    • they called me and conferenced in someone from AT&T who confirmed no issues with my account. no data caps or throttling being applied
    • Apple senior adviser has no idea. tells me to try going to the Genius Bar for a replacement
    • 10/18 go to the Genius Bar. Genius is NOT helpful at all. Tells me it's not the phone but my carrier. I repeatedly tell him to review my case notes which would show I worked with the senior adviser and had tried calling AT&T; genius BEGRUDGINGLY gives me a replacement unit. activate in store and immediately demonstrate poor LTE performance on the replacement unit
    • genius blames AT&T and sends me on my way
    • 10/21 a SECOND apple senior adviser calls me. after explaining the whole story they AGAIN have me install logging profiles and send more screenshots and sysdiagnose files
    • 10/24 receive a generic email from the apple senior adviser saying engineering advised they were aware of the issue and investigating
    • 10/30 iOS 12.1 releases. does NOT improve LTE performance at all

    I honestly don't know what to do at this point. I'm not sure if apple really is going to resolve the problem. It seems to be affecting a subset of users across different carriers. I'm really frustrated given even a replacement unit hasn't been better and the Genius Bar refuses to acknowledge anything and blames AT&T. Is anyone else having problems?

    Has anyone exchanged their XS or XS Max because of LTE issues and received a phone that works a-okay?

    For those having issues, from everything I've read so far people have exchanged their phones two or three times, but to no avail; the connectivity problems still remain. I'm just wondering if it's worth going all the way to the Apple store to exchange my phone if nothing will change.

    WiFi calling on iPhone XS

    So I've had an iPhone XS on Verizon since launch. I've also had challenges with LTE and WiFi. I did swap my original phone for a new one and the new phone has better WiFi performance but the LTE is still about the same.

    I'm wondering how the experience is with WiFi calling? Does that truly help? Is it a pain on iphones? I've never used it.

    What calendar app do you use ?

    I find fantastical 2 a great calendar app , I'm not completely sure if it's free or paid for cause I got it a while ago but I would certainly recommend it if anyone is looking for something similar.

    The blacks on the XR look so much better compared to the ones on my 8 plus...

    Not sure what Apple changed but the display looks better in every way compared to my 8 plus....didn't notice any text blurriness either. Seriously y'all need to check it out in store before complaining.

    I love 3D Touch and use it everyday. 3D my alarms to turn them off in the morning, 3D settings to quickly turn off my Bluetooth, use it to start stopwatch quickly, and the list goes on.

    It was refreshing to see the Xs and Max keep 3D Touch this year (probably because they're the top flagship right now). But a bit worrisome that the Xr didn't keep it. Instead it was replaced with haptic touch (to cut down on costs maybe?).

    So when ios13 comes out ( since the rumor is that that's the iOS that's supposed to be getting a design refresh ) do you think it'll keep 3D Touch? Or do you think they'll shift to haptic touch to keep iPhones more uniform with each other? Really hope 3D Touch stays.

    Apple Cash Pay UK

    Hi Guys,

    Recently after receiving my iPhone XS, I now have an option for Apple Cash Pay setup available on my Wallet app, however every time I tried to set it up and verify my address, it doesn't allow me to press send as its grey'd out. I am not signed into the App Store with a US account and I do have my UK credit/Debit cards linked as well for Apple Pay. Anyone in the UK been able to get it set up or getting the same issue as I am here.

    XR screen won't dim or auto lock

    like the title says, my XR screen doesn't dim or autolock. i have raise to wake turned off and i set the auto lock to 30 seconds and the screen will stay on until i manually press the side button. any ideas?

    Samsung Interactive Whiteboard and iOS

    Hey guys, my school just bought three of the Samsung MagicIWB S2 whiteboards for us to use when teaching. The problem is that most of us have iPhones and not Androids. Do any of you know of any apps for iPhone (not iPad because we don't have any) that can be used in tandem with the Whiteboard? We're looking for apps that we can basically project / connect to the whiteboard.

    XS to 8??

    I have an XS but I am slowly starting to realize that it was way too expensive for what it offers, and also that it was a pretty irresponsible financial decision, as a student. I am enjoying the XS, though. However, I can't help but feel like I should wait until I get some more disposable income before actually buying an almost 2000$ phone. Prior to that, I had an iPhone 8+, which I've given to my boyfriend and while I did initially love the big screen, I did grow to this the phone was too big, too heavy and cumbersome.

    I'm still in the 2 weeks window and planning on returning the XS for something cheaper, like the 8. I also thought about getting the 7 but I read its battery was worse than the 8, so it's making me lean towards the 8. Did anyone go from a plus size phone to a smaller form factor? How was the transition?
