Apple is telling me two factor is not turned on. It's on on my phone Posted: 16 Nov 2018 04:51 PM PST Not really sure what to do. Online, it's asking me to turn it on. But when I check the step to check, it says it's on on my iPhone 6. [link] [comments] |
Lost airpods taken off icloud device list in Find My iPhone app Posted: 16 Nov 2018 05:01 PM PST I lost my airpods a while ago when they were close to dying and I have been checking numerously to see where they have been but it doesn't even show a last location, but now when I go into the Find My iPhone app to see any updates on where they could be they are just not in my list of IOS Devices and it's removed, I have no idea why they would be removed and I just want them back ;/. What can I do about a folder called com.apple.MediaLibraryService? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 07:56 PM PST The folder is apparently taking up about 20GB of my disk space. I did some digging and I've found that it has something to do with converting files for the Media Browser. So, can I delete it? Will it come back? [link] [comments] |
How do I remove external ebooks and PDFs from iCloud without removing them from my iPhone? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 10:17 PM PST My phone can't be backed up because the ebooks and PDFs that I added to iBooks are taking up too much space in iCloud. They are all on my PC and Dropbox already so I'm not worried about losing them. I just can't seem to find a way to remove them from iCloud without removing them from my iPhone. I'm using an iPhone 7 on iOS 12.1. [link] [comments] |
How to split Bluetooth from the new iPad Pro? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 09:05 AM PST Hi all! I recently received my new iPad Pro with USB - C. I'm getting on a flight this weekend and would love to split the bluetooth audio so that my wife and I can watch shows together on the plane. How can I do this? Is there a part I can pick up from the Apple Store or Best Buy or somewhere today that can make this work for me? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Recall repair refused due to water sensors tripped Posted: 16 Nov 2018 08:38 AM PST My wife's phone (iPhone 7) was experiencing loss of cellular service, and after some checking, found out it was a known issue with the modem on her model, and was a covered repair (https://www.apple.com/support/iphone-7-no-service/). We took it in to the Apple Store, and they could see that it was showing the No Connection Error (in fact, toggling cellular wasn't even an option in the control center). So they said it was indeed covered and they'd send it out. They called my wife a couple of days later and explained to her that the issue was no longer showing, and that it wasn't covered by warranty anymore. They suggested that we take the phone back, wait for it to go out again, and take screenshots of the issue (even though an Apple representative had already seen the issue when they took the phone in the first place). I got on the phone with them and explained that I didn't want her to have a phone that was going to continue to go in and out on her, potentially leaving her stranded without a phone, and that I'd prefer they send the phone out anyway and hopefully the issue would present again once it got where it was going. They agreed, and sent it out. Now a week later they sent her an email saying that water damage was detected (not by a fried board or anything, just the water sensors were tripped), and that the repair wouldn't be covered unless we wanted to pay over $300 to repair that ($300 to reset the sensors?!) before they could do the covered repair of the modem issue. I called up customer service and explained that I didn't know why the sensors on an IP67 rated phone were tripped, since she didn't even take it into the swimming pool, let alone the depths and durations it is rated for, and that it didn't make sense to deny a covered defect repair simply because the water sensors were tripped. I told them I didn't care if they reset the sensors, I just wanted them to fix the c They replied that it was just the policy they had in place, and that would actually be sending a whole new phone if the repair went through (so why do I have to pay for them to repair a phone that they aren't even going to be repairing?). After a little more back and forth, the representative (actually a supervisor), agreed that it should be covered and they would waive the fee. My question is this: Does this happen often? Has it happened to you? Is this a way for them to avoid paying for a covered repair, or recoup some of the cost of the covered repair/replacement? [link] [comments] |
AppleCare+ Coverage End Date Question Posted: 16 Nov 2018 10:32 AM PST Does anyone here know whether you can still get warranty service *on* the coverage end date? As in, is that the last date one is eligible for service, or is the day before that the last day. (I have an Apple Watch in need of a repair, and my coverage end date is tomorrow; trying to figure out whether I need to get myself over to an Apple Store today or whether I can wait till the morning). USB 3.0 hub showing up as USB 2.0 hub on 2015 MacBook Pro Retina? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 07:03 PM PST Kinda stumped on this one. I have this USB 3.0 hub, but when I plug it into my MacBook Pro Retina, it shows up and runs as a USB 2.0 hub. It does this with both USB ports. What can I do about this? Do I need a different hub? iPhone not detecting SIM card: problem with the 12.1 update? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 06:27 PM PST Two days ago I installed the 12.1 and went to replace my battery. My iPhone had to stay overnight. The next day I picked it up and it took a bit to recognize my SIM card which I thought was weird since it never happened. Today I woke up with a "no SIM card" message. I opened and closed the SIM card slot and it recognized it right there. Just now, at precisely 2am I was using my phone and the same message appeared! I opened and closed the slot many times, cleaned the card and again it took a while to detect the SIM. Is this a problem with the 12.1 update or did they mess up the slot while replacing my battery? What should I do with these Macbook Pros? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 06:14 PM PST I was given 2 MBPs by a friend. He said feel free to sell them, just erase the data. So one is a Mid 2010 i7/500gb and one is a mid 2009 core 2 duo. The 2010 is the money maker here. It's in overall OK shape with a usable battery life. It ain't great(by any means) but it most certainly does not need to run off the charger. It has an empty drive but can't install MacOS because it needs an Apple ID or whatever. I made one and it still won't work. The 2009 is rough. Battery holds a charge, barely but it does. Shell is ripped up. This one has 498/500GB used. I just want to sell both. I need the cash for christmas presents. Should I wipe the 2009 and sell both as-is? Try to fix them up(As I found this did not make sense, by "Fix them up" I mean find a way to reinstall MacOS)? Part out? I just need a good bit of money ASAP, and it's not me being greedy, I swear. Lol. Need to get my reddit secret santa something! :) Thanks. [link] [comments] |
iPhone battery replaced..still goes down fast, is there a way to see battery cycle? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 05:50 PM PST So I went to the Apple Store to have my battery replaced and I can't tell a difference. Is there a way to see the cycle count on the iphone 6? I know there is nothing I can do if they didnt do anything, but if I paid $30 for nothing, I'll get rid of the iphone and switch companies for being lied too. [link] [comments] |
Trying to restore from our old iPad pro to new iPad pro 2018 so all the apps are present Posted: 16 Nov 2018 05:54 AM PST I have backed up my wife's old iPad Pro (12.0) onto a iMac El capitan. Once I go through the dance of disabling Find My Apple and turning the old one off I plug in the new iPad Pro and try to do a restore. It goes through the motions and goes through the progress bar and then just ends with the apple logo and never initializes. I restart the iPad Pro up down and power hold and I then get the welcome screen. However, it isn't a complete restore. The apps are missing. I tried this twice. Am I mistaking that a full backup via iTunes doesn't restore installed apps onto a new device? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 16 Nov 2018 04:46 PM PST Like the title says, I dropped my phone in some water, it was a shallow puddle outside and it was only in briefly, I stupidly didn't dry it off immediately cause it was still working fine but now it won't charge. Water sensor is definitely tripped by now so I'd rather not replace my phone. I currently have it near a warm lamp (not to hot) in a vain attempt to dry up any moisture still inside [link] [comments] |
My phone screen is black but I can still click the home button Posted: 16 Nov 2018 03:34 PM PST Hey guys, I really need some help with my iPhone 7. I was using it in class this morning, and when I opened my binder I didn't realize that I had it on top of the binder so it had a brief fall and clatter on my desk. Ever since the screen has been completely black. When it first turned black I could press the power button and see it go from being off to just a black screen, but after I did a force restart (holding the power and volume down button) that doesn't happen anymore. I can click the home button and I know that it does restart when I make it (the button will stop clicking for a minute or two while it boots up) but the screen is still totally black. When I plug it into my computer, my computer doesn't recognize it and it doesn't vibrate at all anymore either, even when I flip the silence switch. What do I do???? [link] [comments] |
Make smart playlist with only singles? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 03:06 PM PST I'd like to create a playlist that has all my most recently added music, but exclude full albums that I've also recently added. I was hoping the smart playlist could have a rule like: "album contains less than [X number of] songs". Is there a way to do anything like this? I submitted feedback to Apple for this feature about a year ago and no luck so far in iTunes. [link] [comments] |
iCloud Storage/Lack of space/Transfer photos to PC Posted: 16 Nov 2018 03:02 PM PST I haven't done a backup on my device in a really long time and now I don't have the space to. I want to free space on my iPhone and move all my media to my PC. 4.4GB of my iCloud is just Photos. I got all my Photos that I had on the iCloud downloaded on my PC and deleted a big part of them off my camera roll, but there are more that I haven't got because they weren't saved there because of the lack of space. So how do I delete the saved photos from the iCloud and get them replaced by the newer ones so then I can also get them downloaded on my PC? [link] [comments] |
Symbolic Links--Is this the correct way to create them? Posted: 16 Nov 2018 08:21 AM PST I need to create symbolic links because I want to keep videos in iTunes on a separate drive without having to constantly go back and forth and toggle "Copy files to iTunes library". When iTunes goes to store a file in /Volumes/iTunesStorage/iTunesMedia/Video I really want that file to go to /Volumes/NASBox/Video Is this the right command line command to do this: ln -s /Volumes/NASBox/Video /Volumes/iTunesStorage/iTunesMedia/Video or do I have it backwards? Is a symbolic link going to accomplish what I'm trying to do? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Beats Studio Wireless 3 - 9 months old, ear pads/cushions peeling off Posted: 16 Nov 2018 06:44 AM PST Got my Beats Studio Wireless 3, still under warranty, about 9 months old. Been super-careful with them, loved them to bits, but today noticed that the faux-leather ear pads/cushions started peeling off all of a sudden and for no apparent reason, without having been exposed to anything in particular. Does anyone have any idea what are the chances of Apple sorting this out and/or replacing them (I mean, either the ear pads themselves or just the headphones)? I get it that things wear off, they'll probably try to play it off as "mechanical damage" or something - but, to be honest, I'm pretty upset with such low-level issues happening with $350/£300 headphones after not even a whole year of usage. Will be going to the Apple Store tomorrow morning, hopefully I'll manage to grab a Walk-In Appointment, but wanted to see if anyone else has had similar issues, or maybe there are some Genius Bar people here or Store Managers who would be able to shed some light onto the issue. Many thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 16 Nov 2018 01:09 PM PST My beats suddenly stopped working out of nowhere. They ran out of battery last week so I plugged them in to charge. Whenever I plug them in, the white light turns on which should indicate that they are in fact charging, but when I unplug them after 30 minutes to an hour, I try to turn them on and only the red light blinks. I've tried resetting many times, tried to charge it again, nothing happened. I went to the apple store and they said it's just a battery issue, and getting them fixed would cost around $250. What can I do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Nov 2018 09:15 AM PST Hello! First of all i would like to say that i greatly appreciate any help and answer. I recently bought a 27 inch imac from 2011 for very cheap because the previous owner could not get it to work. So i decided to take a gamble and buy it to try and repair. When i opened it up i immediately noticed that there was no ram or hdd installed. So i fetched two sticks of samsung memory that should be compatible and a hard drive and inserted. When i plugged it in i saw that the first diagnostic LED lit up and so i pressed power and.. nothing. I did hear a noise coming from the PSU so i thought: well its worth a shot to replace it. So i ordered a new one from iFixit, installed it and nothing is different. So i wonder if anyone reading this knows what might be wrong and have a solution? The sound both the old and new PSU makes can be heard here (its not as loud in real life since i put my phones microphone close to it): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k9Ev05GFremPtNyfKPXknNyA06vkuA__/view [link] [comments] |
