iPad Pro 10.5 Not Charging Past 94 Percent Posted: 26 Sep 2018 07:26 AM PDT Since updating to iOS 12 last week, I have noticed that my iPad will not charge past 94%. I have looked online and read things about the iPad and similar issues on other versions but there is nothing that explains how this happens and how to fix the issue. Is anyone else experiencing this? My phone charges to 100% just fine on iOS 12, I have the iPhone 8 Plus. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Sep 2018 05:57 AM PDT What it says on the tin: just got a new iPad Pro, am a senior in college. All of my instructors release their notes as either PDFs or PowerPoints on CANVAS and I'd like to be able to download them, write all over them, and then store them as PDFs (regardless of whether they were PDF or PP to begin with) that I could find later if I needed to. Hear a lot about notability vs good notes etc, Thoughts? Thanks. Edit; thanks guys! Couldn't be happier to be an iPad owner! Got notability. [link] [comments]
Please help me by checking if Cabinet app works on iOS 12 Posted: 26 Sep 2018 11:01 AM PDT Can someone please help me by checking if PDF Cabinet app (iPad only) works well on iOS 12? I'm about to upgrade my iPad to iOS 12, so I just want to make sure the app is compatible with iOS 12 as I heavily rely on it for school. Your help is much appreciated! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pdf-cabinet-documents-viewer/id764366087?mt=8 Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with the developer and this is not an ad. Anyway to update data table linked to external web source in iPad Excel? Posted: 26 Sep 2018 09:18 AM PDT In PC Excel, I can connect my spreadsheet to an external data source, and have Excel pull this data for me. I can't seem to get this function in iPad Excel. Anyone able to do this? Either with Excel, Pages, or some other iPad spreadsheet app? [link] [comments]
No Diamond Cut Chamfered Edges on iPad 2017 & 2018 ?? Posted: 25 Sep 2018 09:55 PM PDT Just got the iPad 2018 Space Gray, 128GB storage option, the A10 CPU Processor is truly a game changer. :) However, I realized that the New iPad 2017 & 2018 has no Diamond Cut Chamfered Edges, while the iPad Pro still has it. No social media has mentioned the difference, does anyone else notice this change ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Sep 2018 08:24 AM PDT Hello! I currently have an iPad Air 2 which is still on iOS 8.4. Do you folks think that it would be worthwhile to have it updated to iOS 12? [link] [comments]

Studying Humanities with Liquid Text, Goodnotes, Notability and Flexcil Posted: 25 Sep 2018 03:46 PM PDT Im relatively new to the world that is paperless studying and paperless productivity. I bought Notability and Goodnotes. This past week I've been trying out Liquidtext and Flexcil and from what I've gathered, none of these quite suit the needs of a pdf reader or a humanities student. It seem a like the app developers just can't get it right for my needs and I've spent a lot of money. I'm not making this post to complain about the apps, instead I'd like to answer some questions others might have so that they don't have to spend as much money and time as I did. For reference I'm a literature PhD student, and if there's anyone reading lots of documents it's lit lit phds First I will preface my reviews by outlining what I consider the essentials of PDF annotation apps are and how humanities students (well me) approach annotation. A good annotation app should have
Pdfs aren't exclusively private or for the individual readers' use. Most humanities students will be discussing the PDFs and texts with each other and quickly discerning and flipping between page numbers is a must when talking about them in class.
Not all PDFs are made equal. Some have huge font, some have two book pages per individual document page, some have small font with no space in the margins. Some have lots of space in the margin. A good app would let readers choose between endless scroll and the standard page turn. It would also have a good layout in both portrait and landscape mode -An annotation viewer Let me know where I wrote things
A good pdf app should have a place to write the free thoughts that may not fit in the margins. It's called many things on many different apps though -Shapes underlining, boxes, triangles, things that are composed of straight lines should be easy to create, perfect, and manipulate. This goes for highlighters and pencils. An ideal app would have this feature but make it easy to turn on and off. I really just want to make a straight line to underline text ...is that so difficult? As for the apps mentioned above, none of these fit my needs but they all have thier strengths and weaknesses. LiquidText -This is supposed to be the quintessential pdf reader. And it is if you like dragging and dropping. But it puts way too much stock in this idea that you have "get rid of all the extra stuff." Like once you read something, it's no longer important unless you've made it so. Most of the functionality of liquid text is comprised of taking blocks of information and saving it one way or another. Usually it's in the sidebar. Once it's in the side bar it can be attached to notes or other blocks of information and that's great, especially for research. But because of this they have no simple annotation viewer. If I highlight something, unless it's dragged over to my side bar, I have to flip through pages to find it. If you write within the margins of the document itself and not in the sidebar, those margin notes are difficult to find as well. You can just get used to writing in the side bar but the app has no notebook feature so your margin notes and freehand notes are all mashed together. The app is also optimized for landscape mode, which is fine and portrait mode is not ugly. But the orientation of the document and the side bar can't be changed and that's a bummer. The page numbers are also difficult to see. Also, it is VERY difficult to delete things and switch between features. Liquid text is good and very expensive but it is not something a humanities scholar would like. If you need a pdf reader and are much more concerned with saving only bits of information and compartmentalizing instead of commenting on the document as a whole then it's great. If you have to learn or memorize something from the document then it's great but it's not good if you're in dialogue with the piece and with others. I'm sorry I don't have any good things to say about liquidtext. It was a disappointment Notability I got this app as an undergrad and it was perfect for all my needs. Then I went to grad school and now my work consists primarily of documents and annotations as opposed to taking lecture notes. I'm biased because notability has done a lot for me BUT it's not the best pdf reader. It has an annotation finder, handwriting reader, and a shape function that is very easy to manage. To make something a straight line all you have to do is hold it which is amazing. The page numbers are easy to see and navigate too. However, with the Apple Pencil, the app is very sensitive. Those straight lines are easy to mess up if you make even the slightest wrong move. It makes handwriting pretty sensitive too. I'm learning korean and I need all the control I can get. This isn't too bad of a criticism but it's distracting. I spend more time trying to perfect lines and rewrite words than actually reading. I thought I would get used to the sensitivity but I haven't. Notability is still a great app though. Goodnotes This was my alternative to Notability's as sensitivity issues. It's a great app. The origination options are great and the sensitivity is perfect. Writing korean is much easier in this app but it does not have a handwriting function for different languages like notability does. It also has an annotation finder and a notebook. But the shape creator is annoying. To draw a straight line you have to turn it on and to write handwritten notes you have to turn it back off and that's annoying. I draw a lot of lines and write a lot of notes, and I don't like the interruption that switching apps creates. This is not a deal breaker but it is annoying Flexcil This was a surprising contender to all the apps mentioned above. The notebook function is great and so is the shape maker. Underlining and highlighting is incredibly easy and beautiful and though have to manually turn the shape feature on and off, you can move it and the list function anywhere you want. It also has an annotation finder. But this app is new and thier team is small. The home screen interface doesn't look nice despite the documents themselves looking good and creating folders is difficult, it also does not have iPhone and Mac compatibility. It also takes blocks of information in a way that's similar to liquid text but it's easier to organize those blocks If I had to pick an app, it would be Flexcil. It's small, doesn't allow much customization or allow cross compatibility. And to be frank, the home screen isn't pretty by any means. but it is great at everything else. They also offer a 10 day free trial which after being burned by Liquidtext, I really appreciated. I'm hoping it will grow and update because they are off to a great start. Anyway I hope this will help a fellow humanities students. Most app reviews and demos show a lot of graphs and med students and business students. And you graph med and business students rock on, I'm proud of you, do your thing. But to all the people using documents to research, here is my experience with these apps. And to any app developers, there is a huge market/need for good research tools. Out of the huge chasm that is digitization and technological innovation, research methodology is severely lagging behind. 20% of researching is literally just trying to manage the tech (or lack thereof) behind it. I'm not smart enough to do it so please take the reigns Thanks! [link] [comments]

What is the oldest iPad it's safe to get without starting to lose iOS updates etc? Posted: 25 Sep 2018 05:02 PM PDT I want to get an iPad but need it to run the latest iOS and not to just become obsolete quickly. Any recommendations? I would get a new iPad, but they're a bit too expensive. [link] [comments]
Heavy duty case for Ipad Pro 10.5 with NO keyboard Posted: 25 Sep 2018 09:03 PM PDT I'm about to upgrade my old IPad Pro 9-whatever to a 10.5 Pro and am looking for a rugged case like my old Logitech but without a keyboard (I only use it for artwork). Interestingly, when I got an Apple Pencil I had to take a scalpel to the lightning port hole on the case in order to be able to charge off the Ipad as the original slot wasn't big enough. Also, I don't need a built-in screen protector as, to reiterate, I use an Ipad for art, and a flip cover which doubles as an adjustable stand would be a bonus. Any recommendations? Thanks. EDIT: UPDATE - thanks for your feedback, folks. In the end I bought a Zugu Prodigy X. Cheers. [link] [comments]
iPad Pro stuck in headphones mode (water damage)? Posted: 25 Sep 2018 05:00 PM PDT So I didn't screw my bottle properly and water was oozing out during a flight. The Apple keyboard soaked up most of the water however I noticed that the iPad wouldn't exit headphones mode. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the iOS12 update. Things I've tried but to no avail: 1) picking with a sharp needle (3.5mm jack) 2) left it in a dry room for it to dry I can confirm the 3.5mm Jack is still working. [link] [comments]

MEID and ICCID on iPad Pro 10.5 Inch 2017 Model Posted: 25 Sep 2018 02:36 PM PDT Hey! Where is the MEID and ICCID on the iPad Pro 2017 model? My IT team is asking for these numbers to set up a cellular plan for me. They told me to go to Settings > General > About but I only see the SEID there. I also don't see anything on the back except the serial number. Thank you in advance for any solutions you may have! [link] [comments] |
