To those running iOS 12 fretting about the National Parks Challenge Posted: 01 Sep 2018 07:34 AM PDT Like many on the reddit i'm in the ios 12 beta and got bummed when as of this morning the challenge had yet to appear. However I decided that I would still do the challenge. While it has yet to update on my phone, it unlocked on the watch. So worth giving it a try even if your not seeing it on phone. Good luck. Posted: 01 Sep 2018 05:30 AM PDT Woke up this morning. All ok. Put watch on to charge for a while while I got breakfast before doing the challenge for today. Went to check the time and nothing... totally dead. Tried a reset, forced restart, unpair... no good. Got onto Apple and they're sending out a box for replacement. I've been going for the perfect year. Every day closed all my rings. Was looking forward to the extra award today. Now lost he month and so the year. Devastated. [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Sep 2018 04:09 AM PDT I'm curious about everyone's activity awards. There's the occasional ones, like the parks one, and ones you get for month streaks, etc. Show me yours! Don't worry if you don't have many, I've accepted I'll never get the 365 award as someone who gets sick at least once a year. Edit: apparently the 100 and etc badges are for 100 day's total, not in a row, hazzah! [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Sep 2018 07:02 AM PDT So, my question is about the accuracy of the GPS (or lack of it). Is anyone aware of any changes in the last update (4.3.2) that modified how the GPS is calculating distance? My situation is this - I run a fairly set distance on a regular basis (i.e. 3 - 4 times a week). I've run it so many times that I know exactly where the kilometre markers are, confirmed by Garmin devices I've previously owned. However, I've noticed now that the GPS is under-calculating distances by about 5%. I know this doesn't sound like much, but when you're on a long-run or looking at pace, it makes all the difference. I was initially just going to blame the Strava app, because it's pretty shonky at the best of times, but I ran with iSmoothRun today (which was always pretty great) and it recorded similarly. Anyone else had similar issues or suggestions on how to rectify things? I run with a 38mm S2 and don't carry my phone with me when I go out. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Current owners definitely upgrading this year, what do you plan to do with your old AW? Posted: 01 Sep 2018 02:52 AM PDT Sell? Trash? Give away to family or friends? Repurpose? I own a Series 2 that I bought some time after launch (due to the initial lack of supply and later release as I live in Korea), and I'm on the fence as to whether I will get a S4 or not. If I do get a S4, budget permitting, I will give mine to my SO. [link] [comments]
Is there a trade in value through the Apple store for my series 3 Posted: 01 Sep 2018 05:57 AM PDT Wondering because I got the series 3 for my birthday and I want to possibly get the series 4 when it comes out because I haven't had this one for very long [link] [comments]
Apple Watch pre-order questions Posted: 01 Sep 2018 05:49 AM PDT I have never pre-ordered a device from Apple. I used to wait overnight in front of a store but now that I am in college I can't do that nor do I want to. I plan on pre-ordering an Apple Watch so I have a few questions for those of you who have experience. 1) How quickly do pre-orders get to the point that the item will no longer be delivered on launch day? 10 minutes? 15 minutes? 2) If I use the Apple store app can I leave it open until pre-orders go up (12 am PST) or will I need to close my app at 11:59 and open it at 12 am? 3) I know some people "favorite" the item they plan to purchase on the Apple store app so that they don't have to waste time searching for it whenever pre-orders launch. Has anyone done this and how far in advance can you typically "favorite" items before pre-orders go live? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Ladies: Apple Watch space gray cool or too masculine? Posted: 01 Sep 2018 04:37 AM PDT Hello, I have had an Apple Watch since 2015. I first had a stainless steel one then went for gold aluminium for the series 2. I'm going to upgrade to the S4 and I was thinking of getting a space gray one. It seems pretty cool with a tan leather strap, but not sure if it's versatile enough with other bands, and during work etc. Are there any other women out there wearing a black or space gray model? Do you find it's versatile enough? Are you ok with wearing it to work and going out? I actually have a proper watch for more formal occasions so it's not as if this will be my only option, but still good to know some views. This is clearly not a real problem or issue, but I want to know what other women felt after getting a black watch. Did you regret it? Did you love it? Thanks! [link] [comments]

When will the S4 be available? Posted: 01 Sep 2018 06:15 AM PDT The keynote is coming closer and with the current leaks about the watch I'm pretty sure that I will get one. When will I be able to buy one in my local apple store or when will it get shipped? Would be nice to know as I'm in vacation after the keynote and would like to wear my new watch. Have you guys found Apple watch’s daily calorie burn to be pretty accurate? Posted: 31 Aug 2018 10:17 PM PDT Just curious what everyone else's experience has been. I'm currently on the road to losing 70lbs so counting calories and figuring out my daily deficit has been a big part of my days. I try to be at a 1,000 calorie deficit everyday to lose 2lbs a week and I generally find I hit the mark either right on or even a little bit better. So when my watch says I burn 3,000 calories and I eat 2,000 it seems accurate. Or as accurate as it can be for an educated guess. What about you guys? Anybody else in my same situation with losing weight and hitting goals? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Aug 2018 10:11 PM PDT Do I take it back and get the S4 later this month? Edit: Alright alright I'll wait for the S4! Thanks for the advice. Just for some context, I recently started a job that required me to be checking my phone constantly while also teaching. I never had any interest in a smart watch but my circumstances led me to believe the Apple Watch would be a good investment. I did 0 research so I had no idea the S4 was around the corner. I learned! Stand-alone white noise / sleep sounds app? Posted: 31 Aug 2018 08:01 PM PDT Is there a stand-alone white noise / sleep sounds generator type app for Apple Watch? A few months ago I banished my iPhone from the bedroom to improve my sleep. The only thing I really miss is falling asleep to the rain sounds from the Sleep Cycle app (and using it to track my sleep too). I was really disappointed to download the Watch version of Sleep Cycle and find all it does is control the phone version. So I can make my phone make rain sounds in another room, great. I feel like the Apple Watch should be able to create rain sounds because it has a speaker. Are there any watch-only apps out there that do this? I want to be able to put my watch on its little charging stand in nightstand mode and have it play rain sounds or pink noise or something like that while I fall asleep or even all night. If there's no app for it I hope someone makes one or Apple builds it in as a feature. [link] [comments]
