| IPAD 4 Suddenly Died and Won't Start Posted: 03 Jun 2018 04:11 PM PDT My iPad4 was running just fine in the past few days, and I was just listening music on Spotify with it and suddenly it went black and no matter how it won't turn on. Some info about the iPad:
Other information: The situation happened a few times before. This symptom started 2017 Thanksgiving. I just put it in the drawer, and like a month later, it just started to work again. Then a few days later, it chose to die again. This cycle goes on and on... I don't know if it will wake up this time.... Anyone, please help [link] [comments]  |

| Photos app has disappeared from my 2015 MacBook Pro Posted: 03 Jun 2018 01:18 PM PDT A few weeks back, I noticed that the Photos app has completely disappeared from my MacBook. I don't know why this is the case, and couldn't find a download for the app online (or iPhoto, for that matter, only updates). The actual photo library is still on my system. The only thing I can think of is that I recently restored my computer with Time Machine, but the odd thing is that if I enter Time Machine and go back to previous backups, the Photos app isn't there either, even back when I know I had it...needless to say, I'm very confused.
Is there any way for me to download Photos so I can actually browse my photos? If not, does anyone know of an alternative app I can use? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]  |
| iTunes play count won't update through cellular data Posted: 03 Jun 2018 04:05 PM PDT Hi, I've asked this question over at r/AppleMusic as well. When I listen to songs through Apple Music/my iCloud music library while using my phone's cellular data, my play count doesn't update. However, if I listen to a song while using WiFi on my phone, the play shows right away. I've been sitting in front of my computer with iTunes opened, cell phone in hand, testing this just to make sure. I've googled and found topics on this, but they're all at least a year old with no solution. I've done the whole unauthorizing my computer with iTunes, reauthorizing, signing in and out and restarting my computer, etc. I've gone into my phone settings and turned on and off my iCloud music library. | Posted: 03 Jun 2018 08:19 AM PDT So many concerns, but saving money is a good thing. The person wants to wipe the computer clean, obviously. I want to make sure they understand about logging out of iCloud/Find my Mac/iTunes/iMessages, etc. What else is there? If they do a fresh install of OS, when I boot it up, it's obviously going to want to go through the whole setup process before I'm able to do anything, like confirm it was actually logged out of iCloud. I want to confirm the serial number is the one they say it is. The person has a picture of the box and the serial number that's on the box, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the same serial number on the actual computer. Any other things I should check for? The serial number on the box on check coverage shows that AppleCare can still be purchased. I've seen this article Based on that Article, can I even really confirm the person logged out if iCloud and Find my iMac? [link] [comments]  |
| High Sierra update went wrong midway through, anyone know how I can back up my files/settings? Posted: 03 Jun 2018 10:43 AM PDT Update to High Sierra got interrupted, now my MacBook Pro (2015, 13.3", i5, 8GB, 128GB) won't boot to the internal drive. I think I was running MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 before the update but I'm not sure! I've installed MacOS to an External drive and booted from that, but Migration Assistant won't transfer my files and settings to the External drive so I can restore from that after I reset the Internal drive I can select the drive in Migration Assistant but when I click 'continue' it doesn't respond, all it says is its looking for other sources, seemingly indefinitely. It does let me go back etc, just not continue. Does anyone know any way I could transfer my files and settings to a backup to restore later? Thanks so much! [link] [comments]  |

It goes through the process of letting me select which disk to install, goes thru reboots, initializing, however it ends up back in the use login page where I enter my password. | Siri won’t change the pronunciation for last names Posted: 03 Jun 2018 10:53 AM PDT Siri pronounces my family name wrong, I ask it to show me my family member's contact and it brings it up fine, I tell it "That's not how you pronounce (Last Name)" and Siri says "Okay, how do you pronounce (First Name)?" | Posted: 03 Jun 2018 04:55 PM PDT Hi, this is more of a general question, but I need to know if it's even remotely possible to recovery data/files in working order from a bad internal drive from a data recovery service or a program. Reason being I need all my files (fixed and working) off of a bad internal drive in my MacBook and on to an external drive (which I have). Also I have some files that where unable to properly transfer to my external drive from my internal drive (when it was operational), I proceeded to check said files with the program it's associated with and it said it was corrupted. So with that being said I absolutely need to know if these files can be fixed (no longer corrupted) and recovered off of my internal drive. This seems realistic and not in the realm of science-fiction so if you know of any service or high-end program that can do this I'd be beyond thankful for your help. [link] [comments]  |

Please tell me that the iPad backup remains in the person's iCloud account after it has been factory restored and removed from the person's account? I'm not expecting so but I'm hoping. | [Apple Music] Switched to family sharing, all my iCloud music is gone and can't be redownloaded Posted: 03 Jun 2018 12:51 PM PDT I had an individual Apple Music plan for a couple of days before my family switched to family sharing. That couple of days was long enough for me to download all the songs I wanted. When I switched to family sharing, all the songs disappeared. I figured it was no big deal and I would just redownload them. BUT now when I search for the songs in Apple Music, there is no plus button. It says the songs are already in my library. When I click the song, there are buttons to see the playlists the song is in and where it is in my library. When I click to see the song in my library, it shows nothing. There is a button that says 'Add to iCloud Music Library,' but it doesn't do anything. This occurs on both iTunes (Mac) and my iPhone X. Does anybody know how to fix this?? Posted: 03 Jun 2018 12:26 PM PDT A friends dog peed on a macbook :/ Sadly, it was on at the time, and when they found it, and it wasn't working, (After trying to dry it with a hairdryer) they plugged it in, thinking it may need charging. Is data recovery at all possible, as it's NAND flash and not removable, or is she probably screwed? I imagine if it is possible, it's very expensive. [link] [comments]  |

| Need you help with my new AirPods! Posted: 03 Jun 2018 02:42 PM PDT Hi everyone, I just bought AirPods after months hesitating. I love them so far, but I'm feared those I got have a defect. Both AirPods charge well in their case, but the case itself doesn't seem to charge. When I plug/unplg the lightning cable, the light color change but that's pretty much it, my iPhone doesn't display it as charging like AirPods and it seems stuck at the same battery level after a hour of charging. When I tried to connect to my wifi to activate it my phone says "Activation Error" and "Activation request could not be completed. Please try again. | Time Machine Backups issue on new SSD. Posted: 03 Jun 2018 10:42 AM PDT I have a Macbook early 2011 13 inch. I was making backups for years on my 1TB Time Capsule - the OS on the old HDD was Mountain Lion. I finally upgraded to High Sierra and installed a brand new SSD. I did a fresh install - no drive cloning. Trying to do time machine backups going forward is proving very frustrating. I am using the exact same time machine/internet setup... it prepares the backup for awhile, then begins backing up alarmingly slow. It does about 20KB in 20 minutes, then it hangs. Eventually the internet disconnects and the backup stops... I repeat the process indefinitely. What could be going on here? How can I fix it? Thanks so much in advance. [link] [comments]  |
| Any way to delete my data from a MacBookPro that's totally broken Posted: 03 Jun 2018 02:21 PM PDT Hi, my old and very battered MacBook Pro recently gave its last breaths. I think it was from water damage. The screen does not turn on, and neither does it if I plug it into an external monitor. The charging cable lights up and the fan whirrs at full speed until the battery dies after I unplug it. I have my data backed up and onto my new computer, but is there anyway to delete the data on it? Ideally I'd like to see what's in there as there may be some very minor things I didn't back up but I'm mostly concerned about deleting the data. Thanks. [link] [comments]  |

| I'd like to use better computer security/password practices; where do I begin? Posted: 03 Jun 2018 02:00 PM PDT What I do currently: I have 1Password on my iPhone SE which I use to manually store passwords and login names for all my different websites and accounts. Most of my passwords are variations on the same theme (no bueno, I know) and I intermittently use the Apple Keychain (I think that's the right word - it autofills passwords and usernames for you) but not consistently. I would like to utilize more secure passwords with a secure program that will populate them for me (if such a thing even exists) across both my Macbook Pro and my iPhone. So what should I do? Do I stop using easy to remember passwords and start using those computer generated suggestions with a ton of characters and rely 100% on keychain? Do I need a third party program like 1Password? Does 1Password do anything differently than Keychain? Also, I don't have a passcode on my phone because I'm not in the habit of leaving it anywhere. I've never lost a phone or anything either. But if I start saving all my passwords in some kind of program I imagine I'll have to add a passcode to the phone, huh? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]  |

I've been searching for hours online but I just can't seem to get a straight answer. I've tried Prime Video, Netflix, and even HBO Now and it seems like I'm always on the cusp of 1080p. I should mention that I've been able to stream accomplish this on my desktop and I've rummaged through the respective playback settings to allow this. Am I missing something or am I just mistaken? Since then, it grew in size and formed a filled black circle. Yellow and purple colors are bordering it. I've tried restarting my phone and it is still here, and now I do not know what to do. | Posted: 03 Jun 2018 12:22 PM PDT Hey folks! I used to have an iMac with 1TB of storage, so my entire 600GB photo library was stored on the Mac in full resolution. One backup went into the cloud (iCloud Photo Library), another one was saved on an external drive almost every day. All my iOS devices (phone, iPad Pro) are connected to the iCloud photo library, but of course I have to use optimize storage due to a lack of... well, storage. Weeks ago, my Mac died. Since I couldn't afford a new one right away I decided to go all in and use my iPad Pro as a replacement. So far, so good! It's a surprisingly great computer... ...apart from the fact that I really don't know how to create offline backups of my precious photos and videos. So right now I still have the external drive, but every picture taken after my Mac died goes into the cloud. Having the cloud as my only backup doesn't really feel good. Is there anything I can do? Any solution I don't see? I'm not an expert, so I'm really thankful for any kind of suggestion. How can I back up my gigantic photo library when the only device I have is an iPad? Thanks!
