    External keyboard

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 11:35 AM PDT

Hello, I'm looking for recommendations on a small, not super expensive keyboard that has a good feel to it to write in the iPad. I don't want to opt for a keyboard case because I don't plan on using every single day as I use the Apple Pencil for notes more. I was looking at the Logitech keys to go and the Logitech k380 (I've been looking at this one as it's on sale for $27. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks in advance.

    Sketchbook vs Procreate

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 12:05 PM PDT

    Hey guys,

I got myself the new iPad 2018 yesterday and now I'm thinking about which app to use for sketching / drawing. I'm an architecture student so I'm only really interested in pencil and technical pen drawings. I've used sketchbook today and I'm pretty happy with it so far (also get pro for free due to being a student). Does procreate offer any additional useful things I'm missing, apart from the perspective help (which is very attractive I must say)? And does it offer similar features like the ruler and straight line tool from sketchbook?

    Thanks for your help!

    Trying to convince myself..

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 07:51 AM PDT

So I have an iPad 3rd generation, the last one with a 30-pin connector. I'm thinking of upgrading to an iPad 2018 as I have grand ideas of using it a lot but in reality I don't use my current iPad all that much except for watching video.

It's stuck on iOS 9 and from what I know iOS 10+ has made a huge difference to using an iPad, so I'm wondering what other people's experiences were like coming from and older iPad like mine to the new ones.

My iPhone X is using the latest iOS but It seems like a much more dynamic experience on the iPad these days..

Just learned about the cursor moving ability with the keyboard

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 01:12 PM PDT

Remember this post about controlling the cursor when typing text by swiping on the keyboard?

Well I just learned of that that feature exists from this youtube video

Sorry if this is old news.

The best part of my upgrade

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 12:45 PM PDT

I bought the new iPad and a pencil. Outside of the obvious improvements (the pencil hype is very real) one thing is still blowing me away. I bought a real smart cover. For my old iPad I bought a "genuine" smart case off ebay. Front and back leather, was being cheap and trying to save money. After buying a genuine apple smart cover wiht this iPad I can not believe how great such a simple thing is.

TLDR: There is no substitute for the real thing.

Best Keyboard For iPad mini 2?

Hey highs, a question which I hope is allowed. Thank you!

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 08:38 AM PDT

TL/DR: I'm looking at getting a 9.7 2018 iPad and I need Keyboard case suggestions, I'm hoping you guys can help me, want to be able to use it on my lap and easily switch between laptop and tablet 'mode'

So, I'm looking at transitioning over to using an iPad as my main computer, or computer device. I have a MacBook which is getting rather slow and would rather just use it for storage and media organising. I don't use 100% of the power anyhow and would like to downsize.

I have made my mind up on the 9.7 2018 iPad as it is the easiest for my budget and the one I'm most willing to buy however I'm struggling to find a case that doesn't have a lot of negative reviews. I know that it is the same size as last years 9.7 iPad replacing the Air line. Does anyone have that iPad or this one and has a decent case for it? Any recommendations?

I'm looking for a keyboard that will enable me to use it on my lap or on a desk. I don't mind if the keyboard has to detach for it to be used in tablet mode and I would really like the ability to easily swtich between 'laptop' and tablet mode.

    iOS 11.3 Camera Flickering

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 08:19 AM PDT

I just went to the apple store and tested the new ios 11.3 on all ipads. I noticed that on all Pro ipads, the camera viewfinder will flicker briefly upon opening the app. This did not occur on the new iPad 6th gen. Anyone else experiencing this as well?

Does anyone else still get monthly emails from TMobile about free 200MB of data on an old iPad?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 12:17 AM PDT

I got an iPad back in 2013 from TMobile because they offered a free 200MB data plan. Sounded good for emergency use, if nothing else. Well, I've long since gotten rid of that iPad, yet I continue to get monthly emails from TMobile informing me that my free 200MB on some phone number that never really existed but was tied to my old iPad's SIM is now active.

Each email has a link I can supposedly use to manage my account and data plan, but it's impossible to log in... keeps asking for a pre-paid PIN that I never had. And I've tried calling customer service to get it sorted out, but that hasn't worked, either, and I don't want to waste even more time over something that's so benign (it's not like I'm being charged for anything).

I could just set up a filter on my email to shuttle off those messages to the trash, but part of me is amused at the failure of it all. And I'm curious, has anyone else run into this issue as well? If so, do you still get those emails, too?

    iPad or Laptop for University?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 07:35 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

This year I'll be studying abroad and I will take my desktop with me, however I need something more portable to take to the lectures or uni.

I was thinking about buying the new iPad (with the stylus). What do you think? Should I buy the new iPad or a Laptop?

    Thanks!

    P.S.: I won't buy the iPad Pro

Does anyone know of a case for the 6th generation iPad (2018) that has any kind of storage for the pen? Something like this for example.

    Apple Pencil drawing apps

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 04:28 AM PDT

After my last iPad crashed I finally got a new one, but now with the Apple Pencil. I mostly make sketches in a notebook and illustrations with Illustrator on my Mac. I was wondering which drawing apps are great with the pencil? Are there great vector based apps out there (with the option to import to Illustrator)?

Language learning and ipad workflow question

    Posted: 06 Apr 2018 12:45 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I recently bought an iPad Pro and want to start using it to improve my german. Which combination of apps would allow me to do the following:

Read a German e-book or newspaper ==> highlight words in the text I don't understand and have them translated, with the ability to save the words I didn't understand in a list. My aim is to build up a vocabulary list of all the words I didn't understand and review them from time to time.

Was just wondering if any one had any other uses for the Apple Pencil besides drawing, note taking and just scrolling around. Interesting to hear what you guys do.

    Split keyboard on iPad 2018?

    Posted: 05 Apr 2018 07:02 PM PDT

I'm new to iOS so I might just be ignorant, but I cannot figure out how to get a split keyboard. I read to hold the bottom right key but that just makes the keyboard go away.
