Unofficial/Official /r/AppleWatch Active April! Fill The Rings Challenge!

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 06:06 AM PDT

While this is moderator endorsed and approved (and thus official) , it is not run by the r/AppleWatch mod team.

    Hey everybody,

Let's get it going for another amazing Fill The Rings Challenge!

For this challenge we will be using the Challenges app (made by the folks over at LoseIt). For those of you who are unfamiliar with the app, it's an app that allows you to join teams and get points for filling your rings. Based on the weight that you enter in when you set up your account, it will suggest a move goal for the challenge. At the end of the challenge, you will be awarded Bronze, Silver, or Gold depending on your performance.

If you already have the app you can just click this link: loseit-challenges://join?eligibilitycode=3qwv

    • First, download Challenges
    • Once you have the app, enter invite code: '3qvw' If you already have the app you can just click this link: loseit-challenges://join?eligibilitycode=3qwv
    • Find a team and join or create your own

Here's how the medals break down:

    • Bronze = 40 points/day average
    • Silver = 60 points/day average
    • Gold = 80 points/day average

    How do you earn points?

    • Move points are earned by closing your move ring. 12 points per ring closed (points awarded for partial closures) with a maximum of 36 points per day possible
    • Exercise points are awarded by closing the exercise ring. 12 points per ring closed (points awarded for partial closures) with a maximum of 36 points per day possible
    • Stand points are awarded for closing your stand ring. 1 point per each stand hour with a maximum of 14 points per day possible
    • If you close all three rings you get 12 bonus points
    • If a teammate closes all three rings, you get 4 bonus points, with 12 points possible if all three teammates close all their rings

I think this will be a fun and healthy way for us to continue to motivate each other, and give us something to do other than post pictures of watch bands (jk, keep those pictures coming).

Let's use this thread for organizing teams and motivating each other as the month goes on.

If you have any questions at all about how to set up the app, don't hesitate to message me, as I'm very familiar with the app and happy to help.

Thanks, and let's get this party started!

    -Eric

    Series 1 lag

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 08:07 AM PDT

Does anyone have any suggestions to make my series 1 run smoother? Lately the actions on the watch are very laggy almost to the point where I don't want to use it anymore.

I lost part of my favorite band at the gym!

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 07:14 AM PDT

I just need to vent. Part of my favorite watch band fell into the locked locker under mine at the gym yesterday. I typically wear a leather band to work, but when I go to the gym, I swap it for the Nike Sport Band. Welp,I was a little careless, and knocked the part of the band with the holes into the locked locker under mine. A day later and the stupid locker is still locked and I can't get my band piece back. Ugh.

Can the S1 alert you when your heartrate is too high outside of the fitness app? Just doing regular activities?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 08:15 AM PDT

I've posted over at /r/fitbit about this but I wanted to ask over here as well since I don't think a fitbit will do what I'm asking. I want to buy a heart rate monitor watch for my dad whos in the hospital with some heart issues. Something that would alert him when his heart rate went over a certain level doing every day tasks. I have friends who say their S2 can do this but for cost sake I wanted to know if the S1 can do this. I'll probably still have to be buying a used one as money is tight for both of us but I really think this would give him a better idea of when he is over exerting himself. If anyone with an S1 can help confirm this that would be great!

Apple Watch S2 disconnecting from iPhone on watchOS 4.3

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 07:37 AM PDT

I'm using an S2 watch on 4.3, and an iPhone X on iOS 11.3. I have noticed my watch displaying the red disconnected from phone icon several times, and I'll have to toggle airplane mode on the watch to get it to reconnect. This happened about 4 times yesterday, and once today. Has anyone else experienced this? This is slightly annoying but my watch has been running so much better on 4.3 than 4.2.

Question for runners (band + treadmill use)

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 06:33 AM PDT

Considering an Apple Watch and curious about two things.

    1. How accurate is the distance when using a treadmill. I know some trackers have difficulty with this.

    2. What band do you use? I would like something that is good for working out but also Ok for the office. I know I can switch but I feel like that would get old.

Which S3 Model to Buy and are AirPods Essential?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2018 09:00 PM PDT

Hi guys/gals. I'm interested in purchasing my first Apple Watch but am unsure on which S3 model to go with. What are your recommendations and why? Money is no issue but I will be upgrading regardless when S4 is released. Also, how important are Airpods to the overall experience of the watch. Thanks a lot everyone! I really appreciate it.
