Apple, it's time to get rid of Wi-Fi only on system and app installs/updates Posted: 24 Feb 2018 07:29 PM PST I'm a big boy now and I should be able to decide whether I want to use my mobile usage for these things. Damn, I have a 60 GB monthly allowance and I can't download a 60 MB update for my watch? I travel a lot for work which means I don't have a dedicated Wi-Fi spot to go to, leaving me weeks before I get to update. At least make it a option for us to toggle in the settings or something. Beware Phishing Scam (Unknown Charge) Posted: 24 Feb 2018 06:20 PM PST I had just been hit by a phishing attempt. You'll get sent an email titled RE-ORDER (numbers and letters). The content was a pdf called INVOICE_ORDER.pdf which contained purchase details of a game currency. Obviously you probably haven't bought anything so you will click the View or Cancel button. This will take you to a rather legitimate looking apple website and they will ask you for your apple id and password. DO NOT ENTER YOUR DETAILS. This is a phishing scam and can lead to your account getting hacked. Here's what it looks like. EDIT: proofreading [link] [comments] |

Are There Any iOS Apps You Have Location Set to “Always”? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 11:16 AM PST Wondering if there are any apps that actually provide tangible benefits to always granting access to your location. The little descriptions are never very helpful. [link] [comments] |
Easier way to trigger Reachability on iPhone X Posted: 24 Feb 2018 05:18 PM PST Hi everyone, I upgraded to the iPhone X a few weeks ago and I like every part of the of the new gesture control except for Reachability. I feel like Apple disabled it by default because it feels extremely gimmicky and at times, trying to trigger it ends up activating a menu or other application elements right above the home bar. I've been trying out different and perhaps easier ways to activate Reachability and by far, this method that I've discovered below is IMO, the easiest:

Any good vector editing apps for the iPad Pro? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 11:34 AM PST I have an iPad Pro 9.7 inch and I honestly love it. I almost stopped using my computer. Recently I started using my computer more (iMac 21.5 late 2013) because I started working in an iOS concept that I'm designing. I've been thinking about getting a macbook and selling the iMac. Since i need the mobility cause im going to study abroad in 4 months. After hearing the rumors for the next gen iPad Pro i got really excited and started considering skipping the macbook and going for the iPad entirely. The only thing is that I don't want to stop doing my iOS concept and it's the only thing i currently cant do on the ipad. Do any of you know any apps that work at least somewhat comparable to adobe illustrator? Currently using Gravit Designer since it is good enough for me and it's free software so my standards may not even be as high. [link] [comments] |

Will Portrait Lighting get any better? Posted: 24 Feb 2018 11:37 AM PST Portrait Lighting has been there for a while now and it's still in beta. Do you guys think it's going to be get updates any time soon? [link] [comments] |
A more cohesive experience between devices? (MacBook Pro, IPad 9.7, IPhone 8) Posted: 24 Feb 2018 04:48 PM PST I own the above three devices and I'm trying to learn a better workflow for what I do and general use between the three of them. I've always utilized I guess what one would call a more 'old world' methodology of using my phone and my computer (emailing myself pictures, texting myself notes using the computer messaging client, putting movies on flash cards and watching them on my phone via a port adaptor, etc.) This may sound stupid but I feel like I'm not used to the more streamlined experience offered by owning products that are designed to work well together. Always loved my MacBook and became a full convert a couple of weeks ago when I bought an IPhone 8 and got a good offer on a new IPad. What services can I use to streamline my experience? What should I turn on settings wise? I typically do the following on each device: MacBook Pro: Heavy photo and video editing; Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, etc. Generalized computer work, torrent IPad: Watch torrented movies, browse Reddit, text when my phone isn't immediately in my hand, light Lightroom work, FaceTime when I'm away from home, Ebook reader IPhone: Generalized phone use, a lot of note taking for work that later gets properly typed, social media for a lot of the content I create using the other devices [link] [comments] |

Seeing the IR light projector on iPhone X Posted: 24 Feb 2018 10:15 PM PST I just noticed when I unlock my iPhone X with Face ID in a dark room I can see a tiny amount of red light coming from the sensor during the unlock process. Once the lock is opened the light turns off. I just thought this was interesting and wondered if others have been able to see it with the naked eye? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Feb 2018 08:43 PM PST I can't for the life of me get a live home screen to work, I just got an iPhone X so I know the phone can do it. What am I missing? [link] [comments] |
Plugging your iPhone into a computer Posted: 24 Feb 2018 02:32 PM PST If I plug my iPhone into a computer and allow the computer to recognize my device, do my pictures automatically download to the computer? when i unplugged my phone it looked like the pictures couldn't be accessed. i even copied a photo, unplugged it and then tried pasting it and it wouldn't work.
