MBP keeps turning off display even after adjusting settings. Posted: 15 Jan 2018 06:11 PM PST Hello. I've had a problem ever since I bought a 2017 MBP last year, and it's becoming more and more annoying. Under Settings > Energy Saver Preferences on both Power and Battery, I have it set to "Never" turn off the display. Also, I have "Prevent Computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" box checked and have every other box unchecked. Despite this, I would be gone for 30 minutes and the display would show a screensaver. I mainly use my MBP for work and online calls, so coming back to see the screensaver, computer locked, and most importantly, the call disconnected has become very annoying. I've tried factory resetting the MBP, reformatting the drive, and installing the latest updates but it keeps happening. Is there no way around this? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Is there a way to set password delay to immediate via terminal anymore? Posted: 15 Jan 2018 11:38 PM PST Before it was easy to just send out a script for mac to set password required and delay to immediate by using these commands. defaults write com.apple.screensaver askForPassword -int 1 defaults write com.apple.screensaver askForPasswordDelay -int 0 I guess they removed this feature, so i wonder how to roll out these feature to users since our mac environment are growing fast. Posted: 15 Jan 2018 09:20 PM PST Not sure if these issues are on the MacOS side or the Illustrator CC 2018 side. Whenever using the program, after about 10 minutes it tends to majorly lag MacOS, crash or even force log out. Does anyone else have these issues, and any temp fix? My system should be-able to run it i5 4590 Gtx 1060 6gb 16gb RAM SSD [link] [comments]
Tried so many things... ICONS STILL NOT SHOWING CORRECTLY (on dock/app folder) Posted: 15 Jan 2018 08:21 PM PST Title. I am on High Sierra if that means much. This is very frustrating. I tried restarting safe mode and my dock icons do show up properly, but now my applications folder icons does not show properly... I've also tried the terminal clear app cache or something, but its not letting me due to "Operation not permitted" and google hasn't been helping me much and just frustrating me a lot. Hopefully someone can help out...! [link] [comments]
[HELP REQUEST] Mac Mini (mid 2011) Will Only Boot In Safe Mode Posted: 15 Jan 2018 03:30 PM PST Mac mini (2.7Ghz i7 OS 10.11.6) makes a single chirp-like sound and will not boot. If I leave it it will chirp and flash led at the same time and then the fan starts to spin up until it's at max speed and just sits there running none stop with out booting. When I can get it to boot into the OS it will only do so in safe mode. Single chirp may be indicative of RAM issues so I tried 3 different RAM sticks also tested reach slot independently. In safe mode the RAM was clearly visible in About menu. I trashed the system prefs and the sleep image just in case. I haven't been able to reset the PRAM as it won't boot normally. I've run out of ideas. Has anyone has this issue? [link] [comments]

Kernall task cpu time 5:06:59.61 Normal? Virus? Posted: 15 Jan 2018 03:45 PM PST My kernal task cpu time is running really high. Along with the window server. My mouse jumped positions and keyboard kept duplicating numbers. Could it be someone is monitoring my system? [link] [comments]
I still have the beta installed, how can I install the regular version of MacOS? Posted: 15 Jan 2018 02:54 PM PST So a few months ago I wanted to get off the beta, so I installed the regular version via the app store. However, I now somehow keep getting beta update notifications and I'm currently running 10.13.2. Is there a way to install MacOS vanilla without it resuming back to the beta? [link] [comments]

Battery Calibration: down to 0 % or 7 % ? Posted: 15 Jan 2018 11:47 AM PST In this video they say one should let the battery discharge completely until the computer shuts down. However, in the accompanying manual of the replacement battery I bought it says to never let the charge go below 7 % before recharging, even for the first use. So what would you guys do? Posted: 15 Jan 2018 10:40 AM PST Anyone know of a work around to no AirDrop functionality whatsoever on MacBook Pro? Tested this in store with iPhone 7 and one of the MacBooks on display and it worked as it should. Spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple Support and they're stumped. *Edit: Created a 'Test User' account and it works perfectly, just not on my own actual user account... [link] [comments]
Software/techniques for reformatting files/filenames for better organized folders? Posted: 15 Jan 2018 09:50 AM PST I'm looking to be able to take large amounts of existing files and change the names of them automatically based on a stated formula so that they are easier to work with. Say I have a long list of files like this...
Now say I would like to take all these files and change the name to:
so that the folder would now look like look like:
Is there any way to do this automatically on a large scale so that I will not need to waste time doing so by hand? P.S. the above example is based on how I personally envisioned the list of files being organized. If there is a better way of achieving this same goal, I am of course open to that. I'm simply looking for a way to better organize my existing files so that they can essentially all meet the same criteria without me needing to go through and rename each file individually. Ad-Attack during first-time Safari in the High Sierra Posted: 15 Jan 2018 06:07 AM PST Just upgraded to High Sierra. In Safari + ABP + Ad Block + uBlock Origin, I now see ads where there used to be none in Yosemite (Safari with just uBlock Origin). How do these ads make it past a combo of 3 Ad Blockers ?? I'm afraid I'll have to say good bye to Safari and only use Firefox, where these ads do NOT appear ... [link] [comments] |
