| Help setting up new iPhone - can't text Posted: 03 Oct 2017 08:09 PM PDT My mom just got a new iPhone 6 earlier today because her old iPhone 5s died completely yesterday. She was able to set up her iCloud on her new phone, and the guy at Best Buy helped change her SIM card. She kept the same phone number. She texted me after getting her new phone but instead of receiving a text from her contact name + cell number, I received a text from her iCloud e-mail. When I call her cell number, her new phone rings. When she calls me from her new phone, it says her contact name + cell number is calling. When I text her cell number, she receives it on her new phone. But when I get texts from her, they only ever come from her iCloud e-mail. Never her cell number. It's really confusing because it appears that her number works, but then it doesn't when it comes to texting others from her new phone. I went into Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, and the only thing there is her iCloud e-mail. No cell number. We've been fiddling around in the settings and at one point read something about the cell number needing to be removed from the old phone's iMessage settings in order to utilize it on the new phone. However, the old phone is dead and we have no way to get into the iMessage settings. I tried to make this as clear as possible. I'm sorry if it's not so. Any advice? Thanks in advance! | Is the left speaker on the iPhone 8 plus supposed to be much quieter? Posted: 03 Oct 2017 06:49 PM PDT I just got an iphone 8 plus brand new and notice that the left speaker is super quiet. If I cover the left one, the total volume only drops a little bit, and if I cover the right one so just the left is playing, it's really quiet. It just doesn't sound fleshed out either, it's really tinny sounding. Is that what it's supposed to sound like? I tried with a bunch of different tracks both on phone and using Pandora and it's the same thing. Thanks! [link] [comments]  |

| Keyboard auto lowercases beginning of sentence Posted: 03 Oct 2017 02:33 PM PDT I'll be typing a message to someone and it will auto capitalize like it should and when I get to the third word it will switch the beginning of the sentence to lower case. It's not happening every time, and it's happening across all platforms from text, to Facebook messenger, to safari forums so I know it is the keyboard. I'm on iOS 11.0.1 on an iPhone 6S Plus. | Recovering sms messages from damaged iphones Posted: 03 Oct 2017 02:29 PM PDT Hi there, I have three old iphones: two iphone 4's and an iphone 5c. All are in some state of disrepair one of the 4's and the 5c's do nothing when plugged in, the other 4 gets stuck on the apple logo. Is there any way to recover data that is stored on these phones? I've searched around quite a bit and have not found any solutions. Unfortunately, they are not backed up to the cloud. If it helps, I am looking to retrieve old sms messages. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 03 Oct 2017 11:26 AM PDT I have recently switched from an Android phone to an iPhone 8 Plus. I'm loving it so far. I have one question about the camera. I prefer to leave Live Photos off and leave the flash off. For some reason, and I can't figure out what triggers it, the flash and live photos revert back to 'On' periodically. I have Preserve Settings set the following way: Camera Mode = OFF, Filter & Lighting = OFF, Live Photo = ON. Any ideas what might be triggering this or how to fix it? [link] [comments]  |
| Brightness automatically turning itself down Posted: 03 Oct 2017 11:24 AM PDT It started this morning. I'm on 10.3.3 and I have never had auto-brightness turned on, I even double checked to make sure. I've reset my phone and when it comes back on, the brightness is down once again. My screen just looks dimmer in general ever since it happened aaaaand it just dimmed as I was typing! It's honestly driving me mad. it dims down to the exact same spot every time [link] [comments]  |
| Transferring songs to PC using iExplorer added 10 seconds extra song replay to all songs Posted: 03 Oct 2017 10:16 AM PDT I needed to transfer all of my songs to my PC from iPhone 6 using iExplorer but each converted song replays 10 seconds of the last 10 seconds of its song, occupying a lot of precious space in my phone and PC (it's Windows). It's ridiculous to edit each song one by one as well as changing where the song will end using iTunes. Is there probably a software that removes specifically seconds of a song simultaneously? I didn't purchase most of my song from iTunes, so there are lots of songs that must be replaced manually. Any tips? [link] [comments]  |

| My top left corner keeps saying "searching" for service Posted: 03 Oct 2017 08:59 AM PDT So I have an AT&T subscription. My problem, in which my phone says it's searching for service/a provider, has been going on for a while. At first it was just very unstable - sometimes I had service (it said AT&T at the top) and then it went back to "searching" or "no service". I just downloaded to the newest OS for my iPhone 6 to see if that'd fix it. It actually did, but 6 hours later I was back with "searching". I've been without service for 1 day now, which is kind of serious as I need it for work. What can I do to fix this? I turn it on and off (and restart it holding the home button and off button) reguarly to see if this will fix it. So far it has been without any luck. Any help would be awesome. Thank you. I tried dropbox and email, but both only send one image, not the whole batch. Side note: I cannot even see my iphone in the "my PC" section of my computer, so that's another issue. Help! | Personal Hotspot via USB does not work anymore. Posted: 03 Oct 2017 06:03 AM PDT I normally use personal hotspot via wifi. The other day wifi somehow didnt work(but that's another issue), I had to use USB but it didnt work anymore. I used to be able to just plug and it would just connect, like when you plug in home internet CAT5. I tried suggestions in google but none of them worked. | iPhone 8+ wont import SIM contacts? Posted: 03 Oct 2017 05:53 AM PDT I've been an Android guy for as long as I've owned smartphones, but when I sent my Galaxy 6 through the wash last week, I decided to shake things up and make the switch. My new iPhone 8+ came yesterday and so far it's been great! The only issue is that when I go to settings>contacts and tap "Import SIM Contacts", it asks me if I want to import to my phone or to iCloud and then does nothing. No error. No freeze. It just acts as if nothing happened. Is there an issue importing contacts that were put on a SIM with a Galaxy? I was counting on being able to import straight from the SIM since the old phone is a hockey puck with corners now. [link] [comments]  |
