Looking for a game with lots of customisation and preferably open world on iPhone?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2022 12:56 PM PDT

Really have an itch for something like Skyrim and other RPG/Open World games where you could really make your character your own cosmetically and with how they play.

Preferably not turn based and not pixelated/classic style (nothing against it, just not part of the itch)

A big bonus is controller support.

Hopefully such a game exists and thanks for your help. If you know other style games with customisation and freedom, I'm all ears.

Looking for a nostalgic early ipod game!

    Posted: 15 Jun 2022 09:05 AM PDT

So im looking for a game i played a lot as a kid on my old ipod.

Its a top down game where you would unlock different pixel/boxlike characters with different weapons to use as you survive waves of zombies(?).

I remember having a lumberjack character using a shotgun and another using a grenade launcher. The artstyle was cartoonlike. Hopefully its enough for someone to go on.

    Looking for a game

    Posted: 15 Jun 2022 02:21 AM PDT

I'm trying to find a game I played a long time ago. It's a plateform game with gameboy-like graphisms where you play a sort of marshmallow, but I can't remember the name.

I’m thinking of trading in my m1 ipad pro for an ipad mini 6. Talk me off this ledge (or don’t).

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 09:50 PM PDT

I was a fan of my 3rd gen ipad pro at first. To me, it was an emergency laptop replacement (via Jump Desktop) and a cool gaming device. But I'm souring on it for a few reasons:

    • The laptop replacement myth. This would be another story had I shelled out for the bigger model, but right now at 11 inches this thing is really hard to use as a laptop. It's not a comfortable about of screen real estate for productivity applications, and the keyboard forces my arms together uncomfortably close when I need to type
    • Pro-motion disappointment. I am a huge motion clarity snob, the kind who plays retro games on a CRT when possible and prefers a 1080p monitor with backlight strobing to a 4k ultrawide. So it's disappointing to compare games on my ipad to the same ones on my tiny little iphone 13 mini and see the 60fps mode on my phone has equal or better motion clarity to 120fps on my ipad, thanks to the low motion persistence of the OLED panel. Most people don't realize motion clarity is really what they're chasing when they look for high frame rates, but a poor display panel is effectively lowering your screen's resolution in motion by blurring and ghosting frames together. Moreover, I expected 120hz adoption to take hold much more after iphone pro max got it, but it remains elusive even in new AAA games like diablo immortal. Obviously the mini 6 panel is even worse, but I feel like I get too little out of this point on the Pro to make a difference.
    • Games not pushing the envelope. Divinity: Original Sin 2 remains an untouched benchmark after more than a year. Genshin can melt any of your hardware, but that's more a credit to the game's lousy optimization than graphical prowess. No Man's Sky was announced at WWDC, but if DOS2 is anything to go by, it will be a one-off showcase and nothing will come close to that level of effort until the next WWDC needs a game to show off.
    • My arms hurt. Remember 3 bullet points ago when I was bitching about how the 11 inch ipad was too small? Well it turns out it's also too big. Specifically, it's too heavy for the all-important job of holding it close to head level while I'm laying down at night and messing around on an ipad instead of sleeping. It also far exceeds the size limit for typing while holding it in two hands, which makes it very folio-reliant. It's a big hamper to the portability factor.

Anyway, I apologize for taking up any of your attention span with my incoherent rambling. My gut tells me it's dumb to toss a high end device in great condition so that I can get a technically lower-end one, so I thought I would put my ideas on the internet and see if someone would call me out on this choice and cyberbully me into taking another path.

Seeking Newer Games that are puzzly? with progression similar to 1000000 and You Must Build A Boat!

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 05:33 PM PDT

    Greetings,

I played both 10000000 and You Must Build A Boat in the past (Though I Will admit.. I never finished either)... but am looking for games in the same vein. I dig Match 3 games and the like, and find myself with some interest in Merge games lately (Merge Mayor and Medieval Merge are go-tos lately). Anyway... I am looking for games similar to to the games in the title. Something I can play in bursts on the go, but feel that I am progressing as I unlock more and more of the things as you go. I am open to about anything, paid or F2P. Leave me your favs. Thanks in advance!

Does somebody remember these iPad games? (2012-2015ish)

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 01:36 PM PDT

I've been searching for three games that I only vaguely remember because I played them when I was a child, in an era when Hugo's Trolley Race was popular. I really hope that somebody can identify them because they evoke really "nostalgic" feelings in me. I just remember one single scene from each game, so it's quite hard I guess. However, I still have hope.

    1) It's either an escape or point and click game. The style is quite dreamy and everything looks drawn. It's 2D and in first person view. It's in a house with a lot of wood (almost in a tree like a giant tree house?), dark atmosphere. A stag's head is hanging on the wall, i think it's eyes are glowing. I remember this scene being in an advanced level of the game. There is a bonsai somewhere in the game, too, and a hedge/tree clipper is also there. Perhaps there was also something with potions?

    2) This could be the same as number one, it matches the style (however this one is more light) and the genre. I think this is clearly an escape game, because you have to find some runes and press them in the right order on a stone door or gate to open it. I think I remember the building as being castle-like. There were also some green climbing plants all over the walls in the game. Also, there is like a entrance hall with rooms left and right (with a tall glass window in the middle?). Additionally, I think I remember a garden, too?

    3) This is definitely another game. Entirely different genre. You have to connect pipes together from well to consumer. There are different eras, like middle age etc. with multiple levels. There are also different types of "fluids" like lava and sewage in later levels.

If this is just confused rambling, I apologize.

I'd be extremely grateful to anybody that has a guess. Thank you all!

How are Matte screen protectors when gaming?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2022 11:00 AM PDT

I always use glass screen protectors so I'm curious if I would lose any image quality or feeling when gaming with a matte screen protector?
