Does Safari run faster than Chrome on your MBP? Posted: 03 Mar 2020 10:38 PM PST So lately I've been using Safari on my 2015 MBP and have been noticing how it is noticeably faster than Chrome on my MBP. Pages load faster, there is less lag, tabs don't crash etc. Is this the case for lots of other people as well or just me? [link] [comments]

MacBook Pro 16” TB3 to TB2 Solutions Posted: 04 Mar 2020 01:41 AM PST I'm a video editor moving from a late 2013 Mac Pro to the new 16" MBP. I own a couple high- capacity TB2 RAID drives, a 27" Thunderbolt Display, as well as a couple TB3 drives. Trying to find an elegant solution to connect everything. I haven't found any TB3 docs that include TB2. Would the following work? Laptop Port 1: Power Laptop Port 2: TB3 drive - TB3/2 adapter - TB2 drive 1 - TB2 drive 2 - TB display. I would then use the USB / TB hub capabilities on the rear of the monitor for various peripherals. Again, would this work? Any better solutions? Thank you! [link] [comments]
Anyway to fix a scratch on the lid of a space grey MacBook? Posted: 03 Mar 2020 09:21 PM PST The thing isn't even a month old and as I pulled it out from under my bed, a nail in my bed frame snagged the lid of the MacBook. It's only about a centimeter long but I was wondering if there was any way to blend it in or fill it in to reduce the look of it. I can't stop staring at it. Thanks [link] [comments]

Upgrade my 2012 Pro, or save more for a newer model (for music production / logic pro x) ? Posted: 03 Mar 2020 11:36 AM PST Hello all, I have a Macbook pro from mid 2012 (15in, core i7) that has been great since I bought it used last spring. This is my first Macbook and I came from Windows (which I still use as my desk computer) thinking nothing of the system update - so I upgraded to Catalina in December - which has made Logic mostly not start, and when it does, it will inevitably crash and is completely unusable. The machine runs much more hot now, too, and has more frequent stutters. The main problem is that I literally cannot use Logic. I am on my last semester of a bachelor of music performance, and my bachelor project and thesis is a studio recording - but now my machine is absolutely unusable for the only purpose for which I have it! I used it on my music production exam last summer, and had no issues whatsoever. I tracked everything on it and mixed everything on it without incident or any crashes whatsoever. Now, I only recently found out that this model year is apparantly quite easy to modify - which brings me to my question: Should I upgrade this machine with more RAM and an SSD, or would that be a waste of money, and I should instead try and get a newer Macbook for my needs. For some context to my use, I don't make EDM or grandiose pop music - my own music is jazz fusion, and my biggest VST is Keyscape. When I work in other genres or styles, I only do little things like track backing vocals and other details. So yeah, I'm hoping that you all have some experience and/or input about this - anything is deeply appreciated! Thanks in advance [link] [comments]

MacBook Air only charges to 93% (new battery) Posted: 03 Mar 2020 07:51 PM PST I bought a refurbished early 2014 MacBook Air, the battery is new (only 7 cycles), however, yesterday I noticed the charger light was staying orange and it was stuck at 98% and claimed "battery is not charging" Today it's stuck at maxing at 93%. Is this something that can be fixed? I've tried restarting it, running it on battery for a while. Read somewhere to run it until the battery dies and then charge it. Haven't tried that yet but am looking for advice here. [link] [comments]
Android phone users, what apps do you use to sync/connect with your Mac? Posted: 03 Mar 2020 07:18 PM PST Browser, connectivity, everything. I'm thinking of switching to safari from chrome but I use an android phone so I won't be able to sync my short-term bookmarks, history, etc. Also, I find it a hassle to transfer files from and to. I use a huawei p30 and a macbook pro 13 tb 2018. I love macbooks but I really hate iphones. Additional tips are welcome. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Screen upgrade for MBA 2012 (A1466)? Posted: 03 Mar 2020 12:52 PM PST I've got a 13" MacBook Air mid-2012 which I've had from new since June 2012. The machine has been solid as a rock all this time, and the only thing that has ever been replaced is the battery, which I did myself. The screen has a lot of keyboard marks on it which don't seem to come off, so I have been thinking about replacing or even upgrading the screen. Is it possible to upgrade this screen beyond the stock one? I'd love a matte screen if possible. A bit of shock googling suggests this isn't possible. [link] [comments]
Dead MacBook air a1370 (mid 2011) Posted: 03 Mar 2020 06:18 AM PST Battery needs replacement. I used it on "Replace now" for a while, until it was so slow I couldn't get anything done. Now it won't turn on. When I connect the charger the light turns green and it stays that way. I try to perform the SMC reset and nothing happens, screen stays black. Should I risk it and replace the battery? Or should I play it safe and get a new cheaper computer? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2020 01:45 AM PST Hello guys/gals So, i just moved my desk at work and it only has one main wall socket in front of me.. I've burned down a socket splitter (1 plug to 3 plug) in the previous past and kinda scares me if I'm not buying a high end ones.. Suddenly, there was a story on Instagram that one person that i followed has a plug bug spotted on his adapters.. I'm thinking of getting one.. The PlugBug Duo to be exact https://m.imgur.com/a/rG0S40H The other reason for me to get a PlugBug is because I just lost my iPhone charger.. I'm thinking that i could kill 2 birds with one stone by buying the PlugBug My questions are.. 1.Will PlugBug slows down the MacBook charging speed? This concerns me since I've seen and heard that MacBooks are quite sensitive when it comes to adapters.. like using lower/higer powered adapters could hurt the power rails of some sort.. 2.Will PlugBug aligned perfectly with my 45W Magsafe 2 adapters that came from a 2017 MBA? I've seen one where the PlugBug is smaller than the adapter of a 15 inch MBP, which still looks nice.. but I also saw a PlugBug on an adapter that is smaller than the PlugBug itself (The PlugBug is bigger) which looks ugly.. Thank you for your kind replies [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2020 05:24 AM PST Best Buy currently has a sale on the Macbook Pro 13 inch. I was wondering if this laptop is worth it for some video games to play on, schooling, and video editing. This sale makes this Pro cheaper than the Air. Best Buy Link [link] [comments]
