| How to update to APFS from HFS+ (Mojave) Posted: 04 Jan 2020 06:54 PM PST Long story short. I currently have Mojave in HFS+ format. I need APFS so I can upgrade to Catelina. I have attempted to do *CMD+R>Disc Utility>Unmounting hard drive>Edit>Convert to APFS* and once that is done successfully, it proceeds to be unable to find my internal hard drive and won't boot. Any suggestions on how to fix this? EDIT: I had a HDD when I upgraded to Mojave, I bought a 2018 MBP this week with a SSD now. [link] [comments]  |

| MBA mid-2011 JPN Restore Getting Stuck When Attempting to Reinstall Lion Posted: 04 Jan 2020 05:57 PM PST I'm attempting to erase the HDD and reinstall Lion on my wife's MacBook Air mid-2011 purchased in Japan. I got into disk utility and formatted the HDD using CMD+R > Disk Utility on boot, but when I try to reinstall Lion I eventually get an error message after agreeing to the terms and hitting continue: "Can't download additional components needed to install OS X" The message appears just after the download starts. The progress bar will start turning blue, and I get an download estimate and then it immediately stops and the error pops up. I've confirmed that the laptop is connected to WiFi so the network connection shouldn't be the issue. Does anyone know what's happening here and how to solve it? Thanks! update: I tried installing High Sierra from a USB key. I got most of the way through the installation until the very end I got a message now that says "macOS could not be installed on your computer - An error occured installing macOS. To use Apple Diagnostics to check your Mac Hardware, shut down, press the power button, and immediatly hold the 'D' key until diagnostics begins. - Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again." I ran the diagnostics but no problems were found.. I'm stuck again :/ [link] [comments]  |

I don't receive any messages from groupchats if there is an Android in the group. I also haven't been able to send or receive photos and videos from androids for as long as I've had my iPhone. | Does battery capacity affect trade-in value? Posted: 04 Jan 2020 08:00 PM PST When you trade in a phone with Apple (or Verizon/T-mobile/ATT/whoever), does the phone's battery capacity affect how much you get in return? Like, would you get less money/credit for a phone whose capacity has dwindled to 70%, compared to a phone that's still at 90%? Or maybe battery capacity doesn't come into the equation unless it's below some threshold, like 50% or something. Surely there's gotta be some limit to what they'll accept, but then again maybe not. But they don't update, I already tried: Factory Reset the airpods, Forget and pair again, Leave them on more time ( also charging), use both data or WiFi. So my mac book pro can't be used 20% of the display area. It was due to the internal crack LCD in the lower left corner. I can use this laptop but it's very irritating. | Software keyboard doesn’t pop on my iPad when flipping the smart keyboard around Posted: 04 Jan 2020 07:09 PM PST Not sure what's up here. I've got a Smart Keyboard connected to my iPad Pro 11. Normally I use it with the keyboard out, but sometimes I just want to flip it around and use it as a touch device, write notes, play a game, watch something, whatever. Problem is that if I ever need to type something, it just doesn't pop the software keyboard. It pops up the little suggestions strip instead like the Smart Keyboard is still out. If I remove it from the case entirely, it'll pop the software keyboard, but I don't see why I'd need to do that. How do I get the software keyboard to pop? [link] [comments]  |

| iMac Recovery Mode - Factory Reset Posted: 04 Jan 2020 11:56 AM PST I am getting rid of my iMac, and I am trying to factory reset it. I did COMMAND + R during boot up and I hit disk utility then completely cleaned off the hard drive. I think I deleted the macOS during this, which was fine until I hit reinstall macOS and it couldn't find a hard drive to select. I went back into disk utility and now there are all different hard drive/ssd partitions. How do I reformat my Fusion drive and get it to show up when I reinstall macOS? Any info helps. Thanks. However my main one is the one I always had which is the U.S. one. I logged back into my U.S. one for the first time and it asked me for my iMac Password which I put in. Not sure why. Now it says my Apple ID and Phone Number is now linked to my iMessage and FaceTime... Why would it ask me for the password I use to log in to my iMac? It also asked me if I want to merge my Safari's which I thought would already be done as they are all connected to iCloud. I'm so confused. Thank you. [link] [comments]  |

Someone in my household won't fess up to what happened so I assume they spilled something on it. The led lights under the letters on this side look dimmer than the rest of the keyboard.
